As Malaysian, we normalize the term brother when calling or address someone (men) who is older, or sister for women. We didn't actually use older- or younger- unless we are referring to the siblings hierarchy. This system was derived from Malay language translated as Abang (brother) and Kakak (sister). So there is no exact term for younger brother or younger sister because the term brother and sister automatically assigned for older ones. For younger ones, Malay use the term adik so for younger brother is adik lelaki (lelaki = male) and younger sister is adik perempuan (perempuan = female). When calling someone younger, we are not bound to male or female but generalize the term as only 'adik' which is acceptable for both. Example when ordering food and the person is men older than you, out of respect you can address them as 'Abang' (or 'Bang' for short).. or women older than you as 'Kakak' (or 'Kak' for short). If the person looks younger, no matter boys or girls, you can address the by 'Adik' (or 'Dik' for short). Also do remember that the pronunciation of Malay is somewhat similar to Japanese kana phonetic sound and not like English, which should be easier for you to learn Malay as well. 👌🏼
