Something makes me feel like making this video was really hard and you had a hard time deciding how to format it. Great video regardless of the process. Also you're literally the only one I could find that had a video on this keyboard, it's a life saver thanks!
Personally, this keyboard was perfect for me the layout was exactly what I needed and has been amazing for almost a year. However I don't have much to compare it to as it has been my first mechanical keyboard. I feel like using 3ildcat's mod video was incredibly useful.
Thank you for your awesome content. I'm new to mechanical keyboards and having been watching a ton of videos on keyboards and switches. It's all so fascinating! I really like creamy sounds I think, but I'm listening to everything to hear all the differences!
Thanks for your comments on the Gateron optical switches and the comparison to Cherry's. Since optical is just starting to take off, it's really hard to find any comparisons other than a quick sound test. Another youtuber tore down a k4 to comfirm that optical switch boards can be hotswap by nature, as the switch is only fastened to the mounting plate. Thanks to your reviews, I picked one up to have fun with the new optical switches from Gateron, Kailh and Outemu. Since you mention the Gateron yellows, I checked out their optical yellow, and found that they decided to get super confusing and put a really light spring (35±15gf) in the optical yellow. Their optical black (60±15gf) looks the closest to their mechanical yellow. Both are still linear.
Lol that was a cute intro. Nice review! Re: shopping for keycaps. I'm on a GK64xs which is essentially the same board but rebranded or distributed by someone else or something. Anyway, If you buy a standard full sized layout there are some compromises that can be made for full coverage. 2u left shift can be covered by numpad 0. The split space can be covered by the standard 2.75 and 2.25 shift keys (that you won't be using as shift keys anyways), and any additional 1.25u modifier of your choice. And then numbers from the numpad can cover the 1u fn, 1u alt/menu. I use 5 as a homing key to feel for my 1u shift. and 1u delete can be placed, but will likely be a different row profile (or if that bothers you use another number of the correct height row profile). And a bonus for the split space -- since the shift keys are sculpted in OEM/cherry -- you can flip them like you would any other space bar if you prefer that flipped space feel.
I actually think the bigger detriment to finding keycaps for this layout is the 2u left shift. Unless you get a set that's kitted out with that, you'll often have to sub in a numpad 2u key from a regular set.
I got the SK64 and modded it by lubing and putting sound dampening foam in between the case and PCB. I also got the YMDK 9009 keycaps you recommended in a previous video (loving em). I just bought the KBDFans Tofu aluminum case to replace the plastic case the sk64 came with. Although, the plastic case is one of the nicest plastic cases.

for me it's perfect. I got the sk64 RGB with black switches. The software from epomaker is great but it's nothing for the easy user. They should at least linnk to some tutorials, so the new user can figure out at least primitive thinks. For instance, the Standard --Driver switch back and fort to see the light, bug. Nothing what a new user could figure out. I was thinking my keyboard is broken, until i found a good tutorial on YT. And of course the right small shift, was at start a little bit annoying, so i remapped the upper arrow as shift too, this helped me to get used to the layout, after 2 weeks i adapt the setup and dont need the remap anymore.
Nice review. I have the white version of the SK64 and really love it. I also have a black Dierya DK-61. The GK/SK/DK boards are all pretty much the same, except, as you said, the GK version supports MX mechanical switches and the others are optical. They vary a bit in build quality, aesthetics, options, and keycaps. A really solid platform, though (you can also find kits) and I enjoy typing on them. I would like to try some of the other switch options such as yellow and red. Pretty cheap to change switches...about $25-30 for a set of opticals.

Having used the Bluetooth version with a Mac I appreciated the replacement modifier keys (although you don't get one to replace the 1U Menu key) and the Mac mode which remaps the modifiers is a nice touch, however the downside of Mac mode for me is that it changes Fn+UIOJKLM,. Otherwise, you can add "gk64" to your search on sites like amazon or aliexpress and find a few cheap sets that would give you actual properly labeled coverage. Im currently using "126 Key Double Shot PBT Keycap Set - Black Translucent (Vortex)" That I picked up from mechanicalkeyboards.com. and used the above mentioned compromises. detailed review. good job on that. but it got annoying at times when the camera zoomed on too much on your face. rather than that I would have liked more focus on the keyboard itself to be honest.
This layout seems (almost) perfect for me! The layout is very similar to the Cooler Master SK622. I'm a developer and the only time I use any of the modifier keys on the right is when I'm typing with one hand lol 😝. What I do use all the time are the arrow keys along with left-hand modifier keys for various ways of navigating and manipulating code. I'm desperately trying to find a Win+Mac bluetooth 60% that offers the most elegant solution with the arrows. With a 65% it just feels like unnecessary bulk to add an entire column of mostly unused keys just to make room for the right arrow, especially when there are large and/or unused keys to the left of the arrows on both rows. It's obviously about which trade-offs suit you best. Other solutions: * The Blitzwolf BW-KB1 and DIERYA DK63's approach with the "/?" key above the right arrow is close but a hard pass for me with how often I use both of those symbols. * I like the Anne Pro 2's clever use of the right-hand modifier keys doing double-duty as arrows based on holding vs. tapping, but I haven't tried it in person, and Betty says the uncertainty of the timing is not nice. * Redragon's solution to use WASD with Tab as a modifier for left-hand arrows is interesting, but IMO probably more suitable for gamers who use arrows very seldomly, and already have their left hand there. * I quite like what seems to be getting popular with various 60% boards (e.g. Royal Kludge RK61), using "/?", "right-Alt", "menu-key", and "right-ctrl" as right-hand arrows with a Fn or Fn-lock key to the right. What I don't like about it is that I'm not sure having to switch between arrows-mode and having "/?" readily available would be so great, but it's probably the easiest trade-off for me on this list. I think the 60% market is looking for ways to cater to the many minimalist enthusiasts who have to stop short of 60% because their workflows require it. The above mentioned options are already great explorations beyond the standard solutions for 60%, i.e. : * using IJKL with Fn key (not great for one-handed arrow-use, which for coding means you'll often have to add another modifier to the handful of modifiers your left hand might already be holding) * or ; [ ' / ...pfff. c'mon. Happy for other Hackers to enjoy this, but it's not for me. Given how things are developing in this area, with companies trying different approaches, and that it's the main reason many people don't get 60%'s, I think a video covering this topic and the various options in depth could be fantastic. ❤️ P.S. I said (almost) perfect because ideally there'd be a blank space to the right of the up arrow, maybe even to the left. Those gaps help one find the arrows more easily, but I could get a similar effect with textured keycaps for the arrows. I think finding the arrows is also an important point with all of this. I would totally get the Happy Hacking solution or some of the others mentioned above if one could get used to accessing the arrow keys easily without leaving the home row, saving precious coding time, but if you find yourself playing Twister with all your fingers to grab all the modifiers at once, it probably won't be worth it. I'm not exaggerating-some of the most popular development environments even have multi-part keyboard shortcuts where you press some keys together, let go, and then press some others, just to do one common thing.
I've had this keyboard for a little over 3 months now and I do have to say, I love it. It's the perfect layout for me. For ME. Not for everyone, and I would take everything that she says seriously because this keyboard may not be for you. Good review!

thank you for the help i just bout it
detailed review. good job on that. but it got annoying at times when the camera zoomed on too much on your face. rather than that I would have liked more focus on the keyboard itself to be honest.
I want this exact keycap set but not the keyboard itself :( Someone that has a link to it? (if it exists) Thanks!
just search for 65% keyboard keycaps. You will eventually find it
How to do shift + ins ? do i need to press another button?
now they have gateron optical yellow, btw
can you switch just the keycaps to put it AZERTY
Can you put glorious pandas in this keyboard?
what is the polling rate of this keyboard?

My partner has a GK64 and they love it, but finding caps was not fun. Really want a GK68XS, there’s a purple aluminum one in Amazon I’m eyeing.
I have a aluminum gk68 and you won’t regret it. The case feels so heavy and premium. Such a good board
ENTER is upside down?
I just got mine and I broke it within 5 mins. The usb c port litterly fell off so that’s awesome
Well, that just sucks
Should of let the dog do sniff of approval.
Is this longer than the GK64/SK64?
Should be the same size
@@SwitchandClickOfficial Sorry, what I meant was, is this shorter than the GK68/SK68! My bad
Yeah it's one row shorter
@@SwitchandClickOfficial Thank you so much
What do u use to edit?

How does Bluetooth works
How do I use function keys
Anyone know compatible backlit keycaps for this keyboard?
Other solutions:
* The Blitzwolf BW-KB1 and DIERYA DK63's approach with the "/?" key above the right arrow is close but a hard pass for me with how often I use both of those symbols.
* using IJKL with Fn key (not great for one-handed arrow-use, which for coding means you'll often have to add another modifier to the handful of modifiers your left hand might already be holding)
* or ; [ ' / ...pfff. c'mon. Happy for other Hackers to enjoy this, but it's not for me.
Given how things are developing in this area, with companies trying different approaches, and that it's the main reason many people don't get 60%'s, I think a video covering this topic and the various options in depth could be fantastic. ❤️
Good luck in your search and thanks for the suggestion!
I have a feeling that i would mistyped that right Shift key a lot, especially coding etc. lol
Definitely, I have that same keyboard and I had to modify .. actually switch places with the delete key, and took me about a day to get used to it
@@ddalejandroo what did you modify exactly if you don't mind me asking? I really miss right shift while coding.
new merch?
is this hot swappable?
If your gonna get this board, trust me, just get the gk68 instead.
Where can i buy it?
@@eugenioand19xd31 I got it from here, epomaker.com/products/epomaker-gk68xs it says preorder, but mine came in a couple weeks
some of my keys stop working....
Ring and wired key cap puller?? I use a string LOL
It's funny to me that you don't like this keyboard. I guess it highlights that we are all different and unique!
