but every song that passes through her vocal cords, takes on a completely different beauty..

This song was originally in Turkish, the language of Karsu's parents. Karsu is surprised because the chorus is sung in the original Turkish language.
I was surprised to see Anneke perform in front of the Dutch government, the king and many veterans for veterans' day a few years ago in the Knights Hall of parliament castle. She has indeed a good heart.
Karsu also does an amazing rendition of Mecano's Hijo De La Luna in this series of Beste Zangers. Worth checking out!

Karsu got very emotional when Anneke switched to Turkish. This song sets my soul to flying. It is so joyous and uplifting. Don't you just love this show and the concept. So much better than a competition. Anneke is my 2nd favorite vocalist. Such a beautiful smile. She looks like she is having so much fun performing. Can you guess who my favorite singer is? She was inspired and influenced by Anneke. Great commentary lovely lady. Loved it Valerie!

Hello Valerie, thanks again for your great comments to Beste Zangers after recovering Covid. First Floor Jansen two years ago and now the incredible Anneke van Giersbergen, our Dutch Metal God Mother. Hopefully AVRO-TROS, the broadcasting company with copyrights, won't block further episodes of Beste Zangers anymore on this channel. Overall, as my strong wish to this company, just inviting the other great Dutch and Belgian metal vocalists the next coming years. Amongst others Sharon den Adel, Simone Simons, Manda Ophuis, Charlotte Wessels, Marjan Welman, Dianne van Giersbergen, Valerie de Kempe, Zora Cock and they are all big fangirls of Anneke and should be absolutely invited for Beste Zangers. And Valerie, listen this season also to the other singers, Karsu Doenmez is my favorite with her Turkish roots. Her cover version of Hijo de la Luna (Son of the Moon) is absolutely amazing, an original and emotional Spanish song and Karsu added fantastic oriental vibes to it.
Last but not least, Irene Jansen is back, the younger sister of Floor. She will participate as vocalist in the Star One album from the brilliant composer Arjen Anthony Lucassen of the project band Ayreon.

When Anneke starts to sing in English (a translation of a Karsu number 1 hit in Turkey),
you can see Karsu get emotional, then Anneke sings as the original, in Turkish!
I heard that the original singer has invited Anneke to sing with him on stage,
so he likes it too, but the "Label", production company has filed a copyright claim with threat of legal action against the TV company, so they have had to remove it.
I felt touched because Karsu was touched.
Sorry to hear you were ill but you're back and I look forward to watching 'Beste zangers' with you.

There's a lot going this season to. I'm not going to reccomend songd. Just discover them yourself as a fan of BZ. Anneke was angelic indeed and it brings me to tears. But there are so much surprises. Lovely and correct appreciation for Anneke and this song. Her singing technique and vocal range is always subordinate to the story and emotions she wants to convey, like you said ¨´she sings from the heart¨. Compared to the jumpy young beauty of the past, her voice has matured, she must have worked hard on that. In my opinion she is one of the 15 best singers on this planet. I have listened to a lot of singers from all kinds of genres and from different countries.
Dear Valerie, thank you for your reaction to this performance. I loved every episode with Floor back in 2019. But this episode where Karsu was in the spotlight was the best ever. Not only the performances with Turkish influences but also because of the beautiful stories she told.
I look forward to watching her hot seat. I usually like to react to the songs without the backstories first, but not always. I'm working my way through the show with English translations.
SHE is the inspiration for Floor Jansen ( Nightwish), Sharon den Adel, (Within Temptation) and Simone Simons ( Epica) ...and many many more
Anneke's tone might be one of a kind in metal, especially with her never-operatic style. The only voice I can think of that, perhaps, approaches her brightness is Simone Simons, but at least to my ear it does not come off quite the same way. Anneke comes off almost Dolly Parton-bright, but with a distinguishing dose of steel and power. Probably the reason she's always been such in-demand collaborator!
Interesting now you said it I can hear Dolly sing this, different band vibe maybe but yes. Anneke does have that same timbre ( tone quality) in a way always light but penetrating trough the mix seemingly effortlessly
all three (Karsu,Dolly and Annneke) very giving peformers in the same sence.

You were just in time commenting on this song. Since today it's been taken offline. They asked the man who wrote the music permission to translate part of the song in English. They forgot to ask the lyrics writer and he is now sueing 'Beste zangers'. They'll talk with him and hope he will be so kind to drop the case.
Good grief. This song will only bring him more world wide attention!

Hi Valerie I have liked all the songs so far. Anneke's new acoustic album is really good. I really like the video of her singing Like a Stone by Chris Cornell. I like the one with Vuur + funny moments. I just discovered a video of Marco hietala singing All I Ask of You. I think you should check out some of Nightwish's live videos this year .
Next Thursday in the "Best Zangers" Anneke van Giersbergen will be in the spotlight and the following week the last episode with Deutten

She inspired several Dutch female singers to start in a metal band like Floor Jansen.

@@VocalSplendorStudios I think the german Beste Zangers version Sing Meiner Song is difficult to access on RUclips. I couldn’t find their uploads of the previous years. Vox/RTL produces Sing Meiner Song. AvroTros produces Beste Zangers and VTM produces Liefde voor Muziek. You may have heard also that Davina Michelle and Suzan & Freek will perform in the Belgian Liefde voor Muziek 2022 which is now being recorded in the south of France.

@@VocalSplendorStudios she speaks dutch,english,swedish(as her partner is swedish the drummer of the band sabaton)finnish(as nightwish is ofcourse finnish..she found this language very hard though to conquer) she is not familair with spanish nor german although she did some songs in them(vilja lied,que se siente) and ofcourse she had a couple of years musical training so she did mio babinno carro from puccinni a couple of times which is in italian (tiende van tuyl back in 2010 and 2011)..btw last week was last session of beste zangers 2021(duets) which were awesome again i hope you can do je suis malade from belle perez en karsu....

I would have expected that Anneke would create the same Floor effect for the show but it is not going that strong among the RUclips reactions. Probably it has to do with the strong copyright police that is going on.
Hmm ... consider this:
Floor has had a massive Nightwish Army following, who have been actively pushing for reaction videos for quite a few years now. And they were able to catch the wave with fortunate timing in various respects.
The Gathering and Anneke were kinda ahead of many developments and fans of them face a bit of a tougher, more individual action dependent, task to draw attention to their musical idols. This, and the relatively low commercial profile of their releases throughout the years, makes it a tad harder to get attention for TG and Anneke, despite the consistently high ratings for TG albums throughout the years.
So be it.
@@grungegrumpy3585 Anneke is heading to Turkey, the show only brought Floor into the Netherlands, considering the circumstances and the fact that Anneke does not have the monster machine of Nightwish behind her, her success is far more impressive. Her whole impressive career is what got her here. Floor, as amazing as she is, won the lottery of joining a world-renowned international band.

There are some problems with this performance, wich is a bloody shame. I found this news piece just now.
"The makers of Beste Zangers were recently unpleasantly surprised by a claim by Hakki Yalçin, who wrote the original Turkish text. Van Giersbergen translated part of the text into English and legally it is questionable whether this is allowed without permission. "The production company has requested permission for the cover, but unfortunately not with both parties," says a spokesperson for AvroTros, the broadcaster that broadcasts Beste Zangers. In short: the composer agrees, the lyricist does not.
A conversation between the copywriter and the production company will follow later this week. In the meantime, AvroTros has removed the number from social media and the website as a precaution. Only the complete broadcast can still be seen. "We think it's a storm in a teacup, hopefully the issue will be resolved this week," said the broadcaster's spokesperson."
Immediately after the broadcast of Beste Zangers was on TV on September 30, the song went viral in Turkey. "The next day I was already on the broadcast of the Turkish RTL Boulevard," says Van Giersbergen. ,,Mustafa Sandal asked me to sing at an open air show in Istanbul, but unfortunately I couldn't. I'll give a few of my own performances in Turkey in December, hopefully this will all be resolved by then. As soon as the performance of the song is allowed back on Spotify and RUclips, I will be completely happy again."
What a shame! It's surprising that they didn't get the rights to the song beforehand.

Thanks for the response guys, found something in the Dutch news: Although Anneke's version was received very positively, also in Turkey, a production error was made. "The production company has requested permission for the cover, but unfortunately not from both parties," the broadcaster told the newspaper. Although Hakki, who wrote the song, did not give permission, composer Mustafa Sandal did agree.
A further conversation will take place later this week between AVROTROS and the lyricist: "We think it's a storm in a teacup, hopefully the matter will be resolved by this week." In the meantime, the version of Anneke (as a precaution) can no longer be found on RUclips or the website of the broadcaster.
And arjen lucassens brings out a new star one album out in december with floor and irene jansen on it as well as steve vain and some more new and old singers maybe also anneke is on this one

There was some controversy with the song. It was originally in Turkish and some of the original songwriters didn't approve of the re-write.

Since when has iPad been the standard word for tablets??? Apple has like a 2% marketshare. Same with iPhone, ~5% market share but every phone is an iPhone to Americans.

The original is from the 90's from Turkish popstar Mustafa Sandal Jest oldu, Karsu had covered this song in her own style as well. Anneke is covering it in her turn in her style to Karsu. Karsu was surprised that Anneke used a part of the song original Turkish lyrics. In the 90's we used to sing this song to the girls we wanted to go on date with !
