It completely depends upon your confidence level. After preliminary ideas you can take a driver beside you,to drive on highways for at least 100 km, after that you can do it alone. And drive at moderate speed keeping both eyes very much open, enjoy your driving. Just one thing, don't be over conscious and don't be over confident.
Congratulations for your Car. There is no such time frame I guess. Start with short ones. Then increase the distance. I started my driving class in March and my first road trip was in June. And yes, drive as much as you can in local roads to make your judgements perfect.
