I've only known about it myself for less than a week! As of this minute it's gotten stopped.

@@Nan-59 Well, paused. We still need to fight and get our voices heard, because they could still decide to move forward after the review!

Thanks for making this! I'm doing what I can to spread the word. I just wish I had heard about this sooner.

Have they begun to pave over paradise and put up a parking lot yet?

Lol perfect. As of right now, it's on hold while options are considered. But there's still a big chance we'll lose most of it.

Well... I guess a non zero chance is better than already crushing the bumblebees.

It's still up in the air. There's a pause on the airport work for the moment, but it looks like they might still wind up bulldozing most or all of the prairie site ☹️

It really, really sucks that so few of us actually care about things like this. We get mocked as being tree-huggers and have the word _progress_ thrown in our faces repeatedly. The people with the money and power can do what they want and they know it. Our once beautiful land South of you in McLean county has been overrun with wind turbines that generate electricity for Chicago. No one cares about the bat and bird fatalities they cause. It's frustrating being so helpless when it comes to saving things and keeping them natural.

The advocates have continued to fight, but it looks like the federal organizations responsible for protecting wildlife have decided the airport's plan does not pose a "significant risk" or whatever, so they're probably going to be able to go ahead and do it. But at least the advocates made noise so that people could see what's happening.
