      Great interview. A lot of the kids he speaks of have been under Gvt care. I wish Neil well but his guilt is making him over simplify the solution. In the US deaths via legal drugs has actually taken over, ie opiods etc including hospital deaths. Its because the attitude to drug use hasn't changed. You need strong families and good schools to raise kids with strong moral values...

      Prohibition doesn't work, alcohol prohibition in 1920'-30's America fuelled the growth of organised crime, all governments keep it illegal because they eventually benefit financially from the profits. It being the second biggest trade after Arms in the world, drugs are taboo. You could say half the pull is the feeling of being a rebel against the system. take the mistique away and half the problem is solved, yes people or dealers could find new streams of synthetic or opioid drugs, however the main culprits for the misery the world seems to be held prisoner by heroin, cocaine, opium will be viewed as normal as ciggerettes.. I know first hand how addiction over decades ruin lives and how illegal markets work. It’s very satisfying to hear somebody who really knows what he’s talking about because most people dealing professional with drugs (politicians, police, doctors,...) don’t really know what they are talking about. Very good interview

    This guest needs to be running for a political position within the UK. He understands his own deficiencies as well as the ones your communities are facing regarding crime. Knowing where your lacking to bring in advisors while having a good grasp on what needs to be done in your communities is an amazing combination. His empathy is something that will also be a huge benefit to all those he impacts with policies.

    One of my fave interviews, gripping start to finish. Very interesting points of view with real experience to back it up, this guy isn't just parroting text or imposing a view from an ivory tower or anything like that, it really wakes up the issue. Before this I was against legalising drugs. I am not saying I am 100% convinced but it's certainly woken me up to the idea... this guy isn't talking shite, he is someone clearly worth listening to! Whilst watching this I thought of another thing we should be doing is ensuring education of child exploitation is done early on in schools... if a lot of adults turn to hard drugs as they are dealing with abuse from childhood, we really need to make it normal for a child to have somewhere to go and and freely tell someone what someone may be doing to them; if people can be afraid that children cannot be pressured or scared to tell someone uncomfortable things, maybe we can stop many of them being absued and then taking the path into drugs too. Fantastic interview!!! Get this man on Question Time and all those mainstream broadcasts... would love to see him do exactly what he did here and calmly wake everybody up; the MPs from their ivory towers wouldn't be able to put the lid back on.

  • @Fionasichanie
    @Fionasichanie Год назад +1

    This man is so full of wisdom! Legalizing all drugs is the best way to combat violent gangs and cartels. As an example, here in
    Seattle, cannabis has been legal for a few years and many of the old dealers set up their own stores selling a slew of cannabis products including tonics, creams, pills, juice for “shots”etc. Gone is that often violent underground market. It’s a new industry that is legal and the stores are very friendly and respectable. Now instead of committing crimes by distributing drugs, these guys do it as businessmen. All their staff are very knowledgeable and provide advice about their products. In fact, often when you shop in these stores they are full of the older generation picking up creams for arthritis etc☺️

    A really interesting interview. I have a reservation based on all those who say decriminalise drugs etc. Many say it’s their body and that they are not hurting anyone. The tax paying worker picks up the bill for the NHS. They are hurting our pockets and overloading the NHS.
    I was recently in a hospital after a car crash. Going though the emergency sections was an eye opener. In every cubical around me was someone brought in through drug abuse. Whilst there, I spoke to a senior nurse who works all over the world due to her geologist husband. She said that weekends are worse as they are filled with drug related patients from age 7 to 70. She once wanted to live in the U.K. but said if the NHS is representative of society, she would not want to raise a family here. She has seen a massive decline over the last decade.

      In britain the health service is not over run with drug addicts that have overdosed , the bigger problems are boozed up idiots who cant have a drink without hurting someone or themselves , the shortage of staff caused by government cuts , the massive amount of immigrants and asylum seekers that are coming into the country every year , legally and illegally , and have been for a long time. This country needs more hospitals and doctors surgerys, more doctors and nurses , more money invested in the whole of the nhs

    It was 1964 when I was stood in Piccadili Circus London. I saw that the 'all night Boots chemist' had a queue outside. Pusseled by this I asked a local why the queue? He answered "they are all drug addicts from a couple of miles around" they were about 12 in number. Taking their 'next day' prescription to claim the drug prescribed by their doctor.
    This practice was stopped by the government shortly after.
    Piccadili is now filled any night with addicts and so is all other popular places, and every other town in Britain.
    This ex cop is dead right.
