Well delightful as usual, thanks Vanessa. Hope your shoulder heals up soon. Oh....very well done to you and Zeph for the milestone number of subscribers, you deserve it.😊
You say you live a life on the move. You have recorded a wealth of memories. Scenery and architecture and adventures more than most people you know. I admire your life. I have seen most of north America in a big rig but did not record it like you have. But I do have a lot of good memories 👌 🇨🇦 👍
So fabulous! Silvia Plath is my favourite poet, along with T.S.Eliot & you. I could really feel your love for the Rochdale Canal. I hope your shoulder & arm are better.. hard for you to rest it living on a narrowboat with all those locks. Zeph is a superb goalie! Please take care & be well. Your dream ( that you are following) is so inspiring & beautiful.
So many beautiful poets have mental health issues. Thank you for visiting Sylvia, we need to remember these amazing people. Yorkshire, stark, intriguing and so full of history. I think you are travelling in the best way to see Yorkshire in it's many roles and faces. Thank you for taking me along with you I really appreciate it. Take care and enjoy your week =-)
One watches in wonder at the images. Sublime mood from the music. Joy from the narration. And as we lilt through the film, the whistle of the teapot brings us back to reality, as our time with Vanessa draws to an end. But not before she leaves us guessing what treat she will put upon her plate. Another moment in life, richly lived. Thank you, Vanessa.
It is always good to see Our Vanessa and Zephyr, each week on their travels, God love us, I'm glad the stormy weather didn't last too long, never been to Hebden Bridge before, the views are Stunning and once again Zephyr steals my heart bless her, I hope you are not having too much trouble with your shoulder, I'm having nerve issues with my legs, so I sympathise totally,....Thank You for taking us on your journey again and Big Congratulations, reaching 50,000 subscribers,....Totally Well Deserved.
Congratulations on 50k .also glad you survived the mad storm. Can’t help thinking how bleak everywhere is now , therefore welcome your talented observations which are uplifting in the drama of winter.
lovely tranquil vlog, looked up about Sylvia Plath after your last vlog.So sad to read about her life.Well done for paying respects to her last resting place.Perfect reflective choral music for your musings regarding Sylvia. Hope you got your shoulder sorted out @Physio. Safe onward journey, get Mr Mindful to do the locks instead!. Zephyr is the best goalie!
Oh I just love your videos! They're so soothing and inspiring and I learn so much....that millipede is beautiful. I've never seen one like that. Have a peaceful week. 💚
Another lovely vlog Vanessa, I hope your shoulder gets better soon. The Rochdale looks a lovely canal, lots of wildlife as always and interesting history too. I’m glad you survived Storm Darragh, it seemed to last for days! Take care Vanessa and Zephyr. xxxx
Glad you saw Redwings....Zephyr would make a great goalkeeper if England are in need....It was very touching visiting Sylvia Plath's grave...Could tell it meant alot to you...What a stunning area ❤
Vanessa thé beautiful moments you manage to capture have inspired me so much to continue with my own creative hobbies from childhood . And this has helped me through a season of grieving. You truly are a light in a hurting world. Thank you ❤️I only wish I was able to actually share a coffee chat with you . Have a blessed week
Thank you Vanessa for a beautiful vlog, I love the countryside, canals and rivers and you show their beauty in all kinds of weathers😍. I loved seeing the Redwing….. you did well to spot them! and of course Zephyr’s goal keeping was magnificent 🥅🥇. Have a lovely weekend 😊x
A friend was diagnosed with frozen shoulder syndrome. Lots of pyshio and heating pads were her salvation. I'm enjoying seeing old & new videos they are all delightful.
My daught survived Darragh-- what a rager! She's at King's College London doing her Masters. I'm going to tell her to visit Hebden Bridge; it's lovely. Zeph holds her line till you throw, well done. A few Premier League goalies still have difficulty with that! Heal that shoulder soon. All the best, from John in Maryland USA.
I am so very pleased that Hughes’ named has been removed from her headstone. His reasons for destroying her last journal were ones of self preservation as far as I’m concerned. Fantastic video, as always. Thank you flower.
Is that Nutella? Very addictive stuff indeed. Thank, you for a lovely relaxing 3 biscuit Friday morning Vlog. And thank you for honoring an important literary voice. I went on line and checked out Sylvia Plath’s poems at my local library after watching. I also enjoy that we share similar climates. Here in the Pacific Northwest corner is the US we are also enjoying rainy blustery cloudy weather, yet the grass is still green! I love how you always find delight in the smallest details of our natural world. You have become a highlight of my week. Thank you so much for all the effort you put in to these episodes. Also I would like to send healing energy for you shoulder. Be well.
Thank you for allowing this old soldier to accompany you on your journeys so peaceful. Reminding me of the greatness of God's wonderful creations and the peace of a gentle soul, a kind heart.
Phew, thanks for letting me relax in my easy chair this week instead of sitting, perched on the edge of it! 😉😊 I am currently rereading a Joan Didion auto biography. She spoke for some of my generation, just after Silvia Plath's star burned so brightly. I hope the doctor's visit was not too consequential. Till we meet again along a canal path where a fern and mushroom hide in plain sight.
❤❤❤Vanessa it's a 3 biscuits today you are a happy girl may your shoulder be healing , day by day as you need to be in full strength to work Alice Rose thank you again following your vlog is kind to ones soul thank you ❤❤❤
I tuned into your channel because I am interested in canals and its watercraft. As a bonus I received delightful side bars about botany, birds, local histories , poets and quaint villages and a profusion of other interesting topics. My kind thanks to you Vanessa for expanding my dreary Winter days! For some reason my tea consumption has increased. 😊
So glad you all got through Storm Darragh okay, love your videos always full of interesting facts and beautiful nature ,hoping your arm and shoulder pain gets better Vanessa Take Care 😊
Thank you Vanessa for such a lovely program. It's so calming and professional. Plus it's very informative. I look forward to Friday to be able to take to the canals again. This is on canal I never traveled, but thanks to you I have now seen it in all it's glory. Hope your arm heals soon. STAY SAFE. regards Peter T mid Wales UK.
Good work, team. Daisy Dog and I thought about you two being safe, as our red alert pembrokeshire garden was smashed about. The bonfire has been going all day, and all night since Monday last. Constant chainsaw action for five days. Daisy watches Zephyr (sp?) when we finally sit down, and I wonder at your sparkly eyes. Love to you both. Edward & Daisy D.
Hello again! This vlog started out very dramatically, with a raging storm. Yet, as always, it ends in the relaxed and peacful interior of the wonderful narrowboat Alice Grace! The Rochdale Canal is indeed very picturesque. You showed us viewers some lovely scenery along the way, and I'm sure I speak for many when I say "Thanks very much!" I enjoyed seeing Zephyr play goalkeeper...you should contact the Three Lionessess! Perhaps Mary Earps would appreciate a break! Thanks again, and best wishes! As always!
Vanessa a huge congratulations on reaching 50k subscribers 🎉 Well deserved !😊 Some weeks I’m left smiling so much that I forget to smash the like button. Knocking the moles up for a game of football had me grinning 😂. The like button doesn’t do your vlogs justice. I love them 😀. Thank you.
Dear Vanessa. I'm so glad you agree with me. I've always said it's my most favourite and least favourite (Rochdale centre) canals. By the time you read this you'd have done Tuel Lane, the deepest English lock, I think Ireland has one just a few inches deeper. Then onto the Calder and Hebble. The crowning glory. I can't wait.
What a very interesting vlog again Vanessa 😊 Full of local history and views of great scenery even if they were up hills and of course the wild life and vegetation, u make it all so interesting and enjoyable to watch l bet u were missed when u left teaching. Have u ever tried a slice of Cheddar cheese on a digestive biscuit? its gorgeous the two complement each other. I hope u have a relaxing weekend with Zephyr playing penalty shootout.🍂🕸🌼☕️🏐🥅
. What a wonderful beginning of this video, for me, at least. Besides the endless variety of insects, the songbirds, the ducks and loons, the mammals and mushrooms, the buds and leaves, there is also precipitation I yearn to hear your observations about in it's multiple forms; fog, drizzle, rain, deluge, frost, snow whisps, snow showers, snowfall, blizzard. There is the tranquility of dew and the jubilance of a daytime thunderstorm the mystery of nighttime rains or snow . Then there's the clouds that accompany them, from the ground hugging to the lofty, the cheerful cumulus, the sky painting cirrus, the dramatic and stately anvilheads. All considered in light of what makes your boat a delightful platform in the midst of the days or the snuggest of snug retreats. I know you make note when it's cold or windy or sunny, as you did this time. But what can I say to invite you to continue spending just a little more time and love and poetry on the weather, the clouds and the air of your journeys as you do upon the other delights that have made your videos a morning favorite of mine? . I must say, I have played and replayed and rereplayed the opening of this posting putting myself in your place, snug and comfortably occupied within your happy space with the rain being so serious outside. (Is that a clock I hear ticking placidly in the background? Perfect) And I took such satisfaction in your remembering the weather in your closing poem. I enjoyed it very much. . I also should add, I have taken to watching your vlog every morning with my breakfast, repeating many. What a gentle way to start my day! . Here's wishing you the best for your shoulder. May it's discomfort be short lived.
Thank you for another wonderful video, and the useful information I was wondering how I would see a doctor! and of course Zephyr manages to steal the show haha thanks again amazing views :) and best of luck with the physio.
Oh my goodness…many, MANY moons ago my parents used to own the ‘Pennine Provisions’ delicatessen in Crown St, Hebden Bridge that popped up for a split second, approx 1m19s in!! What a surprise that little unexpected blast-from-the-past was! Thanks! 😮😍🎉
We passed Alice Grace very early a couple of days ago and I was telling my husband about your lovely channel and how talented you are. I think you and Zephyr would have been in the land of nod. Good luck with the deepest lock at Sowerby Bridge. I’m so glad the Rochdale is in your top three favourite canals.
To visit Sylvia Plaths grave is on my list too..I’d read that people leave pencils, pens for her, and will not have Hughes on the headstone..hope your shoulder recovers soon 👍
Thank you Vanessa for visiting Sylvia Plath’s grave. Such a profoundly tragic life she led. I can certainly understand why someone tried to erase that cad Hughes’ name from her headstone.
Crikey!!...I find myself up to date!🤣, beautiful video Vanessa. Paying your respects like that to people you know only through the written word says so much about your lovely personality. Adam is well versed as you know, so I wish he would sit and watch one of these with me properly but he's still at the 'looking over my shoulder' phase🙃. You've done so well getting through those storms but somehow I'm not surprised you got by with such strength of character. Have a lovely weekend! 🙂
Vanessa, Thanks for your nice videos and the channel of life on the water ways of the UK. Love the amazing wild life and plants along the canals. Having a happy holiday season. 🎄🎄 Cheers🧋🧋🤠
I had no idea that 'fustian' was the Victorian name for corduroy. As a kid in the 1970s, corduroy was revived and was all the rage - as flares of course! We wore pin cords, jumbo cords, all different widths of corduroy - I still love wearing cords today. My mum, who was from Lancashire, always used to call corduroy - 'poor man's velvet'!
@@chickenlady3155 Take it from a (former) Hebden Bridge lad - it's a facade. Faux socialists striking a sneering "look at me being cool" pose, shops selling tourist tat at inflated prices, while Calderdale Council try to screw every penny out of the town's popularity. You couldn't pay me to live there now !
A sad troubled soul Sylvia Plath, her book The Bell Jar is a tough read. Perhaps Ted Hughes wasn't the best person for someone like her to get married to; still, que sera sera.
Dear Vanessa and Zeph No matter whether it is stormy, rainy or just cloudy, you always manage to bring sunshine into so many peoples lives. This week I have a couple of odd questions and if they are too personal I will understand. What type of toilet do you have on board of Alice Grace? If you were to change out to another sort what type would you prefer and why? Stay warm and do look after yourself. Mark Alberta, Canada
Under similar skies - “a duvet of gray” - here in the Inland NW 🇺🇸. I feel trapped inside, literally and figuratively, unable or unwilling to venture outside or migrate to the sun. I always look forward to weekly visits with Alice Grace, Vanessa, and Zephyr to infuse some beauty and appreciation for life. This week’s poem particularly struck me. I’m dealing with the decline of my 100 year old father. I think of death, its aftermath, and what follows for the rest of us. I read your poem 3X and cried. But … on happier terms … congrats on earning 50K subscribers, best wishes for that PT, and another lovely sweater/jumper! May I ask, if a visitor was to spend a couple of weeks boatless alongside a canal (walking, touring, living), which would you recommend? As you say, Vanessa, take care.
I have always thought of you as having the perfect life but now I understand that you suffer as do the rest of us. I for some reason never picked up on the fact the you have Asthma that is very scary to me since my Mom died from that at age 60 the pain in you shoulder must come from all the work it takes to keep Alice moving. I know what you mean about Sunshine you bring a little of that to me and the rest of your followers every Friday. Thanks for that and take good care of you. Steve
What a lovely place and thankyou for showing us and i think its so enjoyable always to see your lovely handsome lab must go and visit it there sometime out of season i think.kind regards robert
By heck that was a storm, hope you get some good help with your muscle's problems, i've read the Sylvia Plath story very sad, the mental health has a lot to answer for, it certainly isn't a nice time. Chocolate spread on digestive biscuits eh, by you know how to live the dream yeh. All the best Gary n Irene
Well now - where else would we get Storm Darragh, 50,000 subscribers, dog vomit slime mould, Sylvia Plath and....?! chocolate spread on digestives??!! 😂😂 Magic, beautiful and priceless 🦋🔆💐 Thank you Stay safe 🙏
I love your videos, I'm finding them absolutely fascinating. I've been debating hiring a narrowboat on one of my leaves to see if I like it. Then I might go down route of buying on.
I have same issue with my shoulder but it's coming from my neck. M.R.i. showed bulging disc. Just to inform you so that you may get the docs to do further tests 😊
What lovely story telling! Hebden Bridge sounds delightful and nicely quirky. Mark Steel did an affectionate and funny Radio 4 “In Town” on it that I’ve recently listened to and it sounds wonderful. Did you find the Kibble Bakery dog cafe? If The Lionesses didn’t have Mary Earps as their goalkeeper, I’m sure Zephyr would make nearly as good a job of it; in penalty shoot-outs at least!! Thank you for our Friday evening treat!
Can anyone explain how I ended up here? I usually watch poker, sports, Warhammer and food vlogs on YT then out of the blue the mindful narrowboat popped up on my suggested watch list 😂 🤔 Coincided with me spending the last week in bed with flu 😷 so I have been binge watching all week and now a fully fledged convert despite my zero interest in wishing to spend the autumn 🍂 and winter 🥶 years of my life living on a boat 😃 Perhaps the mutual love 💕 of doggos 🐶
Well delightful as usual, thanks Vanessa. Hope your shoulder heals up soon. Oh....very well done to you and Zeph for the milestone number of subscribers, you deserve it.😊

I've been wanting to visit Hebden Bridge for a while now. It looks so lovely in your video, I will have to make it happen!
Just by the weather alone I was going to guess you were on the Leeds & Liverpool canal, perhaps near Skipton.
I wasn't that far wrong !
Thank you for another very relaxing vlog ,so pleased you enjoyed the Rochdale Canal it’s not so “grim oop North “is it take care Terence & Kate 🐾🐾
Wonderful video hope your arm feels better soon
❤❤❤
❤
I'm glad someone scrubbed out the 'hughes' name. It shouldn't even have been put there in the first place.
I usually watch poker, sports, Warhammer and food vlogs on YT then out of the blue the mindful narrowboat popped up on my suggested watch list 😂 🤔
Coincided with me spending the last week in bed with flu 😷 so I have been binge watching all week and now a fully fledged convert despite my zero interest in wishing to spend the autumn 🍂 and winter 🥶 years of my life living on a boat 😃
Perhaps the mutual love 💕 of doggos 🐶
