- I came across this piece late this night (Monday, July 8) after a full day and evening. I thought it would be pretty easy sight readable but it was more difficult then I thought. Especially the pedalling. But after spending an hour with it, I could make a pretty decent recording. I chose a powerful registration that highlights the Majestic nature of the piece. I hope you like it!

Henry Purcell (10 September 1659 - 21 November 1695) was an English composer of Baroque music.Purcell's musical style was uniquely English, although it incorporated Italian and French elements. Generally considered among the greatest English opera composers,Purcell has been assessed with John Dunstaple and William Byrd as England's most important early music composer.
Played with the Marcussen organ from Grote or Saint-Laurens Church in Rotterdam, the Netherlands (Hauptwerk)

Love Purcell! Really nice, bold and majestic registration and playing - nicely played! The fun comes through despite the challenges.
Thanks! It’s a nice piece indeed!
Purcell sounds very regal on the magnificent Marcussen Organ sample set - a magestic performance, Rien: bravo!
Thanks Graham! Have fun in Vilnius today!
These trumpets sound really powerful. Purcell was an amazing composer.
Thanks Vidas!
Lekkere frisse compositie/uitvoering. Dank voor het delen Rien
Dank Nils! Morgen een nog veel mooier stuk! :-)
Great to hear your joyful playing of this famous and celebrated composition which has been published in several arrangements, both with and without pedals. Particularly popular amongst organists was one by Osborne Peasgood for a 1960 royal wedding in Westminster Abbey.
Thanks! And thanks for sending me another arrangement. Which had some more exciting harmonies!
Rousing stuff! Played with great character on the Laurenskerk set, Rien. Bravo!
Thank you Paul! Not my usual style, but I like it! :-)
Beautiful piece, and majestic interprétation ! Bravo Rien !
Thank you Rémi!
Well played, Purcell is always nice. Very nice and thanks for sharing the sheet.
Thanks! I just have finished recorded a piece for tomorrow that is very very beautiful. It wasn’t easy but I managed to learn and record it within 2 hours. :-)
Sehr schön vorgetragen und registriert. Danke und liebe Grüße.Gerd 😊
Vielen dank Gerd!-
Hello dear Rien, I admire you that you can record a piece for a video in such a short time. How nice, a rather quiet trumpet piece, I like it very much!
Thanks a lot!
A very nice transcription, Purcell often works very nicely on organ!
Thanks! This one did! :-)
I have a recording of this piece played on the Trompette Militaire stop of Liverpool Cathedral Organ and it sounds absolutely amazing! Love your version as well!
Thanks! Yes, I think you really have to hear a piece like this live in a big cathedral! The acoustics from such big building can never be “caught” in a recording!
Fantastic performance 🎹
Thank you!
Excellent execution Rien!
Thank you Alberto!
There are a lot of adaptations... this one is very good and what a lovely sound!
Thanks Philippe! I think the pedals in this one adds some nice depth. I just recorded a piece from Healey Willian for tomorrow. I’m sure you want to play it too! It’s so beautiful! Thanks for your inspirations to discover this composer!
@@RienSchalkwijk Watch out for tomorrow! The sentence will be terrible!
Beautiful performance Rien! Where'd you find the music for this one? Reason I ask is I'd been looking for it for ages, then rescored it myself 😁🤣
Thanks! I forgot where O find it, but I just made available in my own sheet music vault. The link is now in the description!
