-McDavid has set the record for goals scored by any Canadian player in the history of this U18 tournament.
-McDavid is not NHL draft eligible until 2015.

The most mind boggling thing to me is that he ended up with 14 points in 7 games. If some of his teammates could a have buried the gifts he gave him he could have easily had 22-28 points.

Saw McDavid play livestream today as Erie beat Windsor 5-2. Like a man playing against boys. Reminds me of Gretzky in terms of vision, creativity, moves, skating, dominance and skill. Not saying he's better than Eichel because I haven't seen him play that much, but if Eichel's name is being whispered in the same breath he must be pretty phenomenal as well. We should just sit back and admire their talent instead of caring about which country they were born in. They are magnificent hockey players and we are hockey fans, so let's be hockey fans and not project our own hopes and sense of self worth onto their successes and failures. Just let them play and enjoy what they do.

Buddy I know this is late but you are dumb as fuck, Mcdavid was on another planet since he was on skates, was internationally recognized as the next Crosby and by far the best hockey prospect since Crosby by the time he was 14, eichel and mcdavjd were never in the same breath at any point, mcdavjd has always been head and shoulders above him and it was never even close, to say mcdavjd is being mentioned in the same breath as eichel is dumb and insulting, not just now has been that way since before you posted your comment, the conversation before the draft was not eichel vs mcdavid, it was how eichel would be a clear cut #1 overall pick in the last 10 drafts, but bc of mcdavjd it wasn’t even a thought in anyones head everyone knew he was going 1st since 2012.

I've seen him play and seen his stats and wouldn't be surprised if he slips out of number 1 in the draft next year. It was depends on how well he does next year.

That'd be big news... I've only seen highlights, and then his performance at the World Juniors. I didn't find he played as well as people hoped in the Juniors, so you definitely have a point.

he was playing against people up to 4 years older than him. And was only the 4th 16 year old ever to make Team Canada. I'm hoping his hand is ok for these WJs. It will be the known as the 2015 McDavid Tournament by future historians.

This kid is so awesome I think he will be our secret weapon at the u20 WJC this year hopefully he gets lots of ice time and hopefully this will be the year Canada wins gold.
Little did they know he'd pan out even better then they expected, highest paid player in the nhl, fastest player in the nhl, one of the youngest captains in the history of the nhl, at least 100 points in all seasons where he played more than 70 games
This kid looks like he's going to be really special. I've heard all the hype, and as a hockey fan I hope he's a generation-type player. Still al long way to go, NHL's a tough league.
I get chills watching this kid, going to be so exciting to see him play in the NHL. I hope this rough year for my Hurricanes pays off with some Connor McDavid :)
Analysing the game you can see that McDavid is going to be Right off the bat twice as better as he is right now when he will jump into the NHL and playing with professional payers. Others will make him better and vice versa. He's really fast and so great to watch.
agreed....I saw atleast 4-5 EASY assists he should've had, but the other players just can't keep up...
What’s crazy is any one of these guys on the ice could murder in pick up hockey even against guys that played junior B and A and that just shows you how great and fast mcdavid really was before he even reached 18 years old.
This guy is UNREAL!! I think Crosby is an amazing player, but i think this guy could be even better when he matures. Just unreal in all zones, no weakness to his game.

You really have no idea what you're talking about. Mcdavid is a 16 years dominating an 18 year olds tournament. Kid is going to be something special, and thats nothing against drouin who is also a great prospect.
I was watching Mitchkov and Bedard's performances at the u18 as sixteens years old so i decided to compare their performances with the Mcdavid one and man, Mcdavid was on another level. Mitchkov has a knack for scoring goals and Bedard has an impressive wrist shot but they cant compare with Mcdavid, the way he skates and dominates with the puck in his stick is unmatched.
Haha same here man, mcdavid just always had the puck and could control the game which I haven’t seen bedard or michkov do yet. Surprisingly michkov surpassed mcdavid in points in this tournament and bedard tied him but still mcdavid was just on another level.

I was watching the replay of the Canada-Finland game to get of better view of Morin and Kasperi Kapanen (who I hope the Flyers can draft). While I was looking for them, I never had to look for Connor McDavid because he jumped out on every shift. This guy is going to be incredible considering he is already outplaying draft eligibles as a 16 year old.
He's so smooth, kinda reminds me of Datsyuk

He's not a completely unreal player. What he does have going for him is his speed and quickness. Combines with his hockey sense and he's a level above most guys he's playing with right now. You can also tell the level he's playing on, the game has already slowed down for him - which is a huge advantage.

Don't get used to that. They don't let future league MVPs go crashing in to everybody. If you notice, even Ovechkin has slowed down on the checking... its too hard on their body, and given how much they need to score and skate, and back check, all while going up against top D pairings every night, something has to give -- and its usually the banging.
Sorry, I meant Ovie has slowed the banging on bodies -- he's gotten better (more responsible) at checking.
I think this kid will be pretty good in the NHL someday!
imagine your nhl team drafting connor mcdavid and he wants to play for your team forever and is not a bust . and also not injury prone . it be like having a stanley cup looking at your team for the next 15 to 18 years
In the NHL he'll be a perennial 100 point set-up man. His hockey sense is off the charts. If only he had teammates who could finish.

He really knows how to handle the puck, but you can tell he still needs to work on some things. He ended the year with 99 points. I believe once he really comes into his own, he will be unstoppable!

When I said Crosby was doing this before, I meant World Jrs, QMJHL, and early NHL career. Crosby is his comparison -- that in itself is a compliment. Maybe you mean McDavid is the best 18 yr old you've ever seen, but to say that the 18 yr old McDavid is the best player youve seen period? Im sure the 24 yr old Gretzky, or 25 yr old Mario, or 22 yr old Crosby would have something to say about that.
McDavid makes Crosby look like an orphan begging for an additional piece of burnt toast.
Who's going to get him? That's going to be the most watched among hockey fans, and anticipated draft lottery drawing of all time, some time in April/May/June of next year.

Agreed totally. Do you think he will be better as Tavares or he will really be an impact player as Crosby. He is so young and has so more to develop again. Next year he will be draft #1. As good as he is they wont let him play Junior one more year?
Petit Nono It's hard to say because the competition isn't the same. The NHL is a lot more physical and a lot of flashy guys like this get pushed around.. A lot of those fancy moves wont work on NHL defensemen

He's got crazy hands, but the finish ain't there. If he tops out at 6"2 225 he'll be unstoppable.
He's saying the Flames (a bad team) will be the worst team in 2014-2015 and will be the team to take McDavid. I think it's pretty accurate, because they are awful, but then again, so are teams like Buffalo and Nashville.

Hockey may be Canada's game. but the USA is closing fast. Of the last 10 combined U18 & U20 world junior championships. The USA has won 6 Canada 1

Dan Paul, hockey is not as participated as all those sports because of money. Why do you think soccer is most watched world wide??? It's a cheap sport. Not very hard to buy a soccer ball. Same goes for basket ball and football. Ice hockey one of the more expensive sports because you don't just need the pads and gear, you need an ice rink!
