Wow, some days the Internet really delivers. This is one of those days. Upon hearing the finished piece, with that rousing full score, I almost felt a call to arms. I wanted to reach into my hard drive and rip and tear apart my plugins with my bare hands! If I had a printer, I'd probably print out my VSTs onto paper just so I could set fire to them! The casualness of how you support trans rights and call out spitfire is reassuring. Thanks for that, it's always nice to see. I wonder if there's a way to get Ableton to back down from working with them, since they're such a big player. Aside from that, really fun vid, and I love how much that formant shifted voice sounds like the Disco Elysium narrator. Gives it that extra sense of drama.

I saw Redmeans "Jeremy" McRecording at a grocery store in Seattle yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Even if he deigned to expose his ears to a digital imitation of sound created using plugins, he would just insist it isn't real, then warm up a Hot Pocket and pop another episode of Night Rider into the VCR.
I love how, with quantum mechanics, scientists already answered the question of analog vs digital... and yet the debate continues anyway. The answer is, everything is basically digital if you look close enough. Or at least, everything is _quantized,_ which is what makes digital ... digital. The more important question is how high the resolution is. Like, early digital synths were 8-bit and made distinctly different sounds than analog. CDs are 16-bit, which is roughly the limit of human hearing. Good analog synths in a clean electrical environment can reach an effective resolution of about 20 to 24 bits, though it's usually quite a bit less due to common everyday electrical noise. Most digital plugins now use either 32 bits or 64 bits, both of which are far more precise than analog gear. And to fully simulate every individual quantum subatomic reaction in an analog synth, it would take roughly 56 bits... but it would be mostly pointless since that's only ~20 bits of signal and ~36 bits of noise. And the listener generally only hears like 10 to 14 bits worth in typical listening environments, because life is noisy, tinnitus exists, and average speakers are mediocre. The main distinction between vintage analog synths and other synths is error. Old analog gear was really unstable and added a lot of error, basically forcing several types of modulation whether the user wanted it or not. Digital synths, and even newer analog synths, make this extra modulation optional. Like, the user has to add it on purpose in order to get that type of sound, or at least turn a "vintage" knob to dial in some preset error patterns. Anyway, if the copypasta dude really wants to reach enlightenment or "sonic apotheosis" or whatever, he needs only realize that analog vs digital doesn't really matter, and the main things which determine the quality of music are the skill of the musician and the tastes of the listener... not the inner workings of the instruments. But I doubt that's a message he can understand... and high-quality fully-orchestrated shitposts are a lot more fun. This video is basically the best possible response.
this was absolutely fucking incredible. Also damn impressive library for 150 bucks even if not every solo instrument is on a par with some other (more expensive) options.

What do stars sound like? If you could get within a solar atmosphere to hear that, the volume would instantly kill you, but that can’t happen because flares can reach temperatures of a million degrees Kelvin and the radiation will start destroying your cells farther out than the flares reach. But yeah, it’s analogue. Edit: I meant stellar atmosphere. Solar is specific to our Sun.
