A compilation of a journey from Bengaluru to #Madgaon in Goa through arguably the most beautiful and scenic train route in entire India. This was undertaken back in August 2018 in the peak monsoon season. The prime attraction of this route stands the majestic Dudhsagar Waterfalls amidst the densely forested #BraganzaGhats between #Castlerock and #Kulem .
I had actually undertaken the journey in two parts with a night's halt at #Hubli to try and enjoy the entire route in daylight. The first part features the beautiful liveried #22498 #Thiruchirapalli #SriGanganagar #HumsafarExpress which I happen to board from #Krishnarajapuram in Bengaluru.
The Humsafar, running almost empty, takes me through the heart of #Karnataka and one of India's most underrated yet uncharacteristically beautiful routes. Small rocky hills, green surroundings, host of coconut trees and light drizzle accompany me all the way, past small yet significant towns like #Tumakuru , #Arsikere , #Birur , #Chikjajur and #Harihar , to Hubli where I call it a day.
A stay in the retiring room for the night is followed by a more eventful next day. This time I go more conventional. Twin #Gooty ALCo led #AmravatiExpress sets the mood perfectly as we head west towards the Western Ghats. I say we because I was joined by a close friend and fellow railfan in Arghya Roy from Hubli.
One special attraction was Gooty's classic #kingfisher liveried ALCo among the twins powering our train. The setting could not have been better.
Forests begin to thicken, the curves begin to multiply and the occasional drizzles turn into downpours as we cross #Londa. However, we witness the best part of the journey from #Castlerock as we embark onto a ride through the green and dense forests of the Braganza Ghats enroute a 510 m descend to #Kulem. The Dudhsagar Falls, a spectacle formed by the plunging River #Mandovi comes within these ghats. Enjoy the falls from a close quarter as we pass by it and again from the distance in a panoramic view after we take a 180 degree turn.
At the end of it all comes Goa, soaked and rejuvenated by the constant rains of the south western monsoon. This concludes one of the best journeys I've been on and I can vouch this shall be in my memories for quite a long time.
