    It was really fascinating to watch you bring that project to completion; a few times I thought you had ruined it but in the end it was stunning and perfect! Love your process, your painting style and your teaching style... so happy to have discovered your channel!

      there are times I have to keep working a painting as I DO TAKE RISKS and push myself with color at times. This one did end up one of my favorites as I love how the pinks look!!! THANK you for your continued support Leslie!!!

    Hi! Wonderful! How about if I have painted with acrylics on acrylic paper, can I mount the paper on canvas?

    • @CherylWilsonArt
      @CherylWilsonArt  10 дней назад +1

      Yes, absolutely. I use thicker gel for thicker paper but the same technique applies!!!

    • @johannapeura4019

      @@CherylWilsonArt Thanks! I just glued it now with glue. (Well, I had three pieces I glued into same painting, like a collage.) It turned out just fine. The glue was acid neutral meant to that kind of work so I think it'll be just fine. 😊

    • @CherylWilsonArt
      @CherylWilsonArt  10 дней назад +1

      @johannapeura4019 I just always remember to put a support under the canvas as well as pressure on the top to ensure the entire thing gets adhered, but I’m sure you did that

    • @johannapeura4019

      @@CherylWilsonArt Well, I just pressed it on both sides, and then double checked the edges and put more glue to them. They seem to have dried out just fine! (I used a quite thick layer of glue.)

    Will the painting fade over time if it is not glazed

    • @CherylWilsonArt
      @CherylWilsonArt  5 месяцев назад

      Acrylics don’t tend to fade over time I hear straight, watercolor might I don’t do straight watercolor, but I’ve never had any of my paintings fade. Glazing is different than varnishing. Do you mean varnishing? I will varnish your painting if someone asks me to I will always ask the buyer if they want it varnished and if they want it varnish with gloss or matte and it’s really up to them, lotta times varnishing does help with dirt and to wipe the painting off but I’ve never had any painting fade

    which gel do you recommend for gluing?

    • @CherylWilsonArt
      @CherylWilsonArt  2 месяца назад

      I almost always use golden gels. If it is a lighter piece, I will use the lighter gels. If it is a heavy collage or a bead or something which needs more power, I use the heavy gel. I hope that helps.

    Do you ever paint the sides of the canvas to match the background or always leave them white?

    • @CherylWilsonArt
      @CherylWilsonArt  3 года назад

      I personally do not, it is personal preference by each artist. I do not like the look of that. I will do white, black, gray mainly on the sides. Thank you for the question

    Do you have a video showing how you wrap a finished painting around a canvas frame?

    • @CherylWilsonArt
      @CherylWilsonArt  Год назад

      Marion, i have two videos where I show how to wrap the canvas BEFORE i paint on the canvas, but I would Follow the same process. Here they are; ruclips.net/video/3Sr-UkBOSKs/видео.html
      ruclips.net/video/PAU0cT7jJTE/видео.html
      if this does not help, let me know.

      I need to wrap a watercolor finished painting around a canvas frame. I should have specified. If I wet the back of the watercolor paper to stretch it around the canvas, will it ruin the painting? Have you done that before?

    What weight is the paper you paint on?

    • @CherylWilsonArt
      @CherylWilsonArt  3 года назад

      Laurie, I use all kinds but I believe the paper for this was the Strathmore 400 Artist Watercolor Paper, 140 lb, 22 x 30 Inches, 10 Sheets . The 140 is sturdier to adhere to the canvas. I hope this helps. I have the link in my store link above under paper and substrates, but you can probably get at a local store too!
