      I assume in your simplicity you pressed the "thumbs up" button. However, I agree with Thomas: if you watch and listen to TS, you are not a simple man, because you have tastes that are denied to simple people.

      I must add that I agree with you. My observation is that as soon as any electronic amplification is added to the music the quality of the suffers.

    Her Majesty the ChihuaRat has approved this video. & this absolutely SPLENDID & WONDERFUL group of SUPER-TALENTED musical geniuses. &, of course, the 1 & only Sir James Sterling, who always delivers the very best videos to make this old brokedown great-grammaw get up & dance her rickety hip joints off.
    Literally.
    🙀Ouch.😖
    THANKS, Y'ALL, & GOD BLESS YOU & KEEP YOU SAFE, ALWAYS, IN ALL WAYS!!!!!!!!!

    It is great again to hear the sax player. He fits in perfectly with that great band. I have heard them a few times on RUclips doing “Willy The Weeper,” a great old song. Always fresh when they play it. So a professional band.

    No doubt TS version is the best I've heard.
    So many have done this song over the years.
    It was probably the 2nd or 3rd song I remember hearing when I got to New Orleans in the mid 70's.
    Thanks a bunch James.
    You should post these on Rumble.

    Many thanks, James. I won't yet again offer time stamps for this particular tune. However, I will just point out - for those who need it - that the 16-bar Chorus is heard for the first time at 00:20 to 00:40 and that the 16-bar Verse is heard only twice (following Shaye's conspicuous 'go to the top' signals) at 00:58 to 01:16 and 02:28 to 02:46. For anyone who would like to read an article (by a distinguished jazz writer whose blog has had well over a million visits) on the origins of this tune, try:

      At 2:47 the tune shifts keys from G Minor -to C major. the guitar plays a G7 to C G7 C A7, Dm, G7 C for his solo. The guitar is hard to hear. And then the band comes back in on the origin part of F7 to Bb. That short key change is wonderful.

    • @PopsCoffee
      @PopsCoffee 2 года назад +2

      Yes, the Verse of 'Willie the Weeper' is in G minor; the Chorus is in the related key of B flat major (not C). The Chorus starts on F 7 (not G7). The 'short key change' is in fact the Verse which, as I said, is also played at 00:58 to 01:16. The guitar solo at 02:47 is based on the Chorus, Todd having just led on the Verse.

    • @JamesSterling

      On the day this was recorded (April 1, 2022) they were playing in the street to protest the city not returning Royal St. to a pedestrian mall. Later that month, right after the French Quarter Festival the city relented and reinstated the pedestrian mall so the band can now play as in the past without traffic and without being harassed by the authorities.

      That's her most recent cornet, a Bach Stradivarius. You can see the signature sheppard's crook of the Bach Strad when she turns to her right at 1:16.
