    • @LivingAsleepHD
      @LivingAsleepHD 3 года назад

      Yup for mine the triangle stays lit, but flashes and remains lit when you hit the brake pedal. It can be modified by rewiring the internals (check my reply to another commenter here).

  • @arondeepnishand1116
    @arondeepnishand1116 4 года назад +1

    Hey bro. Loved your video. I was wondering. Shouldn't the top triangle come on when you press the brake? I've been trying to find a video on how to do it for the 2017+ and your video is the closest to it

    • @LivingAsleepHD
      @LivingAsleepHD 4 года назад +1

      Thanks bro! Out of the box the triangle stays lit but flashes a few times and goes back to solid when the brake is pressed (then stays on when off the brake). There's a way to modify the wiring inside the actual housing (need to cut and solder some wires) to get the triangle to behave differently. You can have the triangle stay off and then go solid on brake, or stay off and then flash and go solid, etc. There's a few good RUclips vids for this just search Valenti wiring mod!

    • @LivingAsleepHD
      @LivingAsleepHD 4 года назад +1

      If you're comfortable with wiring and soldering there are some modifications you can do if you open up the 4th brake light to get what you're looking for pretty much. Search "DIY Valenti 4th brake light wiring mod" on RUclips there's a good video showing the options you can do!

    Hey bro I got the jewel Valenti tail lights for the 2017 Toyota 86 and I wired the red to the green and the blue to the red wire and it works but when I press the brake, it doesn’t do anything. Is there a reason why? Maybe my light is defective? Thanks

    • @LivingAsleepHD
      @LivingAsleepHD 4 года назад

      Hey did you do red (Valenti) to the green (OEM tail light) and blue (Valenti) to the red (tail light) and have the reverse light harness plugged in? If so that should work but if not, check these few things and let me know, before concluding if it is defective:
      1. Does the V light come on with your headlights?
      2. Does the triangle light up ever (brake press or release)?
      3. Are your wire taps for the red/blue Valenti wires done properly? If you open the tap you should see that it bites through the rubber around the wiring and exposes the metal of both wires to the metal clip in the tap so the connection is bridged. You can test it with a multimeter or just stick the wires into the tail light harness directly (unplug the tail light and just stick the Valenti wires into the car-side tail light harness) and see if that works. If that works, then your Valenti light is probably fine and the tap wasn't done properly
      4. Any other weird behavior?

    • @ionhype488
      @ionhype488 4 года назад

      LivingAsleepHD the connections are secure and everything turns on. Even the triangle. The triangle just doesn’t react when the brake is pressed. Also I guess I spliced it into the harness side that is from the car and not the tail light. Should I disconnect it and connect it on the tail light side? Will that make a difference?

    • @LivingAsleepHD
      @LivingAsleepHD 4 года назад

      Hmmm it shouldn't matter if it's on the car side or light side as long as it's tapped into the correct wire... So that's weird. Was this a brand new unit? If so it might be defective, if not the previous owner might have modified the wiring inside the unit to disable the triangle flash (there's RUclips guides out there, maybe if you can't return yours you can open it, inspect, snd reverse the process if needed?). The red wire from the Valenti should only control the flash and not the actual power to the triangle, so I would triple check its a solid connection and tapped into the correct wire and if not try to replace it or open it up and check the wiring. Sorry bud good luck though! Would love to get an update on it though when you figure it out!

    • @ionhype488

      LivingAsleepHD is starting working randomly. I guess it also only works when the lights are turned on?

    • @LivingAsleepHD
      @LivingAsleepHD 4 года назад

      That's super weird! Maybe some loose connections inside the unit settled (if the harness side was fine)? Either way good to hear. And yea the V and triangle will only activate if your lights are on, you could probably do sone custom wiring to tap it into the DRL and wire it to a switch in your cabin to control it if you wanted. Might be a cool DIY tbh lol

    Are these all running and brake lights? On my gt86, the 4th lights only show when I select the fog light setup. How do you get them to work as running lights? Thanks

    • @LivingAsleepHD
      @LivingAsleepHD 4 года назад

      Hey I only had to tap in the running light and brake light. Just ran out to check what happens with my fogs on/off and it had no effect on the 4th brake light. However for this video I did have them on. Which brake light do you have and what are you tapping the lines into?

    • @jbalgo
      @jbalgo 4 года назад

      @@LivingAsleepHD from what you are saying it seems as though you could be running on fog lights. Did you check the front fog lights if they are turned on? On my European gt86, I'm only allowed to switch on my DLR lights in normal weather conditions. So, switching to fog lights to get the 4th boomerang light + triangular brake light is not good for my wallet in case of fine. See pictures of my car with fog lights on and off. Can you please confirm whether you are running on DLR or fog lights? Thanks a million.

      @@jbalgo not sure if the euro wiring is different then, having fog lights on or off does not affect my 4th brake light. You can use a multimeter to see the voltage on the wires you are tapping into and make sure you are going into the correct ones. At minimum if you've tapped into the running light the V should light up when the running lights are on.

    • @LivingAsleepHD
      @LivingAsleepHD 4 года назад

      The loose red wire from the 4th brake light taps into the green wire on the tail light :) of course if you don't want the triangle to flash while braking you can skip this

      Thanks for the response. I’ve tried this and it doesnt work out for me. I too have an OLM VL style light on a 2017 brz. So i did the opposite and wired red to red,blue to green, and the triangle lights up when i press brake, but doesnt flash. Still confused haha

    • @LivingAsleepHD
      @LivingAsleepHD 4 года назад

      Hmm yea in that configuration your triangle is wired to a constant power from the tail lights so it won't flash. If you go back to the wiring in the description/video does it work when your full lights are on? If not I'd double check your wire taps are fine, check voltages with a multimeter, if none of that works maybe your brake light is faulty :(

    • @paoloenriquejavier3591
      @paoloenriquejavier3591 4 года назад

      Update: the headlights being on made no difference, however, i somehow fixed it! I wired the red wire to red wire, blue wire (4th light) to green wire (tail light), and then i tapped both the red and blue wire (both from 4th brake light)together. and Now the triangle flashes when i brake, and returns to solid with headlights on.
      Honestly i didnt know what i was doing but it worked for me! (Hopefully what i did doesn’t cause any problems in the future)

    • @LivingAsleepHD
      @LivingAsleepHD 4 года назад

      I'm not sure that's a good idea - you are bridging the brake and running light so they might not work properly so one will short the other when triggered.. That's also not the right wiring according to the forums and FTspeeds info either:
      www.ftspeed.com/part/fr-s-brz-86/exterior/lighting/tail-lights-reverse-lights/htyf86rv-vsb-olm-vl-style-4th-brake-light-reverse-light-black-edition-2013-fr-s-brz-86#.X3KP2LcpAzQ
      If the recommended wiring doesn't work then there is likely an issue in the unit or with the wire taps :( do you have a multimeter to test the voltage with?
