It was great to see you revisiting my second favorite Zeppelin album Dale. Houses of the Holy has always been my favorite. Actually I love them all. I was fortunate to have seen them live three times with Bonzo in 1977 at the Garden in NYC and two without Bonzo. Live Aid 1985 and the Atlantic Records 40th Anniversary at Madison Square Garden in 1988. Heroes in a wonderful record. I love her 1980 to 1985 period starting with the album you are showing. Thanks for sharing some of the not heard in five year albums Dale~

Hi Rob, Houses of the Holy is probably my favourite Zeppelin album too but I fear Presence, whilst strong, isn't second for me...Great you got to see them live. Cheers Dale

Nice selection Dale. Side 2 of Heroes is my favorite thing Bowie ever did. Still never heard Stackridge though I remember John Peel retrospectively pouring scorn on them in an interview he did towards the end of his life while discussing why punk had to happen.

Hi James - I'm not sure would call out poor little Stackridge like that. I'd have thought ELP and Yes deserved Mr Peel's attention more...

I wish the David Crosby had more songs like Cowboy Movie. Natty Dread may be my 2nd favorite Bob Marley album after Rastaman Vibration. As soon as you showed John Phillips I figured it was the goner.

Hi Dale - I love that Neil Young album. It is full of Killer tracks. I like Freebird but for some reason I don’t have any Lynyrd Skynyrd albums in my collection. I also love Blood on the Tracks and funnily enough I was into the cinema last night to see the Bob Marley biopic “One Love” which I really enjoyed. Stackridge are very different to any other band. I enjoyed your video and looking forward to your next one which I hope you can do in less takes 😊- cheers Bill

The n3ver 3 Grace Jones albums were excellent in my opinion. I have every Bob Marley album but I am questioning is I really need to have them. The LZ album is my favorite as it was my introduction to them, sentimental. Some good stuff Dale

Lots of keepers this time around.
I don’t have that Stackridge album so I think I’ll look out for it now you’ve recommended it.
I only have Presence on CD and have probably never played it. Will dig it out and see how it rates next to their bigger albums.

'Friendliness' is worth a listen if you come across a copy John. Definitely dig out Presence - decent but not top drawer IMO...

I have played that Neil Young album recently but it has been some time since I have played the Lynyrd Skynyrd. That Bob Marley Live album is indeed a classic with wonderful renditions. I was not familiar with the John Phillips album. Blood On The Tracks is a top five album for me, not just Dylan.

Well I made Grace Jones my favourite album of 78 & More Specials my favourite of 80. I can’t handle Dylan..bar Nashville Skyline which I really enjoy. I. Had that John Phillips album & I remember it had a couple of lovely tracks..but it’s gone..I don’t know what happened to it!

If someone said they only liked one Dylan album, I would never guess it was Nashville Skyline. But maybe because he sings differently on that album it would be...

19 good choices this time out Dale (I'll leave you to decide which are two that are not for me). Two there that IMHO are the best albums those artists ever did - those being the Young and Crosby, and another (Blood on the Tracks) that is very damned close to being the best - and for anyone else than Dylan would be. Glad to to see none of those were chosen to go (you'd have been condemned to the deepest level of Hell if they had!).
    Cheers...Pete

I thought you might be getting rid of the Skynard album, but then that may be because I don't like them!..
Glad you're keeping the Neil Young and Crosby records, both top tier as far as I'm concerned..Laughing and Cinammon Girl worth price of admission alone.
I much prefer More Specials to the debut.Jerry Dammers was really stretching out musically, lots of lounge music influences and great atmospheres ..
International Jet Set is possibly my favourite.
Not heard the John Phillips so can't comment..the final Mamas and Papas album is actually really good and worth hearing if you don't know it.

It may suprise you but I've never owned any of those and not even heard them but having said that I think they'd be all difficult to part with at least the ones your keeping. Times do change and nostalgia is great for me it's 1980s cheese and grunge, Brit pop and Madchester though all the way. Heroes appeals but never got round to it (don't tell Richard McCook obviously) I guess my collection is half predictable (e.g. nearly all Beatles) then half obscure (ish).

    • @gatefold33
