This was so gut wrenching because i realized while watching this scene since the creators put so much in this then there were pretty much no chance that Ekko in the actual timeline will ever get a 'happy' ending. Also since i understand french, the scene was even more devastating.

Even though doing so dooms everyone from his timeline. Just a sad position for them both to be in. The song is the perfect addition to it to invoke your feelings for them. It really is a brilliant scene.
