Oh my gosh the biome is so cute! I bet that was so much fun for them! I remember doing one in 5th grade, it was one of my favorite projects i had done in elementary school.
Great room for Open House! Here's an idea for writing, I create a bulletin board with a space for each child's work. I then put up "published writing" up as it gets completed, the new writing gets pinned on top of the old writing. So, when my parents come in they can see the most recent writing piece and all the pieces the students complete throughout the year. I plan on putting all the writing pieces together in a folder to go home at the end of the year.
I always do a scavenger hunt too. I also have a PowerPoint playing with pictures of the kids working and playing. Your room looks great and so does your hair!
Looks great! I, like you, am overwhelmed by visual clutter....making a portfolio out of bulletin board paper (all in one color) to put small art work and written work in seems to help with keeping it all at least looking uniform...also, maybe putting the portfolio work on the student's chair and leave the biome on the desk might be a helpful solution? i think whatever gives ownership to the class as a whole is what makes it work!....well done! Looks like your little classroom family night will be a huge hit!
Wow, that was impressive, Shelley!! 👍👍Love looking at all the students work😍 and how conscientious are they to help you out with the cleaning and the set up👍👍Keep it up💙🙏
This is so interesting, our 'Open House' in my town in south GA is at the beginning of the year when they come to meet the teacher. We dont have something like this later in the year but I kind of wish we did! We do 1 'student led conference' nigut and that is when our kids can show off work, but, ours was earlier in the year after our PTA performance. I would love to have something now when the kids have made so much growth!
Thank you so much for sharing! I'm hosting an open house next week, but my students will only be showing one of their projects. Next year I will definitely borrow your idea :)
I like how you took ideas from other teachers and put in class many teachers unfortunately don’t like to give credit where credit is due and your class looks fantastic!!!!!!!!
Santa Clarita, CA-we also have a Back-to-School evening in August to meet the teacher and go over class expectations and routines. The end-of-year is like this video. We also call it Open House.
I’m curious, you use to not record the kids and know you do. You don’t record them straight on obviously but you know what I mean lol. I love your channel so much! I’ve been here for so long. I don’t think you even had 1,000 subscribers!
Thank you for sharing this wonderful video. I am a high school special Ed student in Vermont, and I am on spring break. My birthday is tomorrow, Monday, April, 15.
+Early EDventures Shelley , Tip: How about assigning classroom jobs for the students when it comes to cleaning and organizing things so that the classroom can be clean and organized almost daily ? Trust me , when it comes to the academics that they are being made to do that may leave them later in life versus an activity that inspires the value of cleaning up after yourself and things like that which will follow them in their lives even outside of school like helping clean I am willing to bet that the students see cleaning as like some kind of a I would not exactly say field day but when teachers teach students based on things that they see in life or may see in life later will go further with them . Hang in there beautiful . The end of the school year is also coming . - Dwight
That first shot of the students cleaning the classroom was beautiful 😍 If only all kids were like this.
