    My adhd has made me a job hopper, I've always had anxiety due to my work performance... Its so embarrassing and infuriating. I wish I had a job I was good at and made me happy to wake up every morning. This condition has brought me nothing but chaos, i just want some order/harmony. Ahhh, the you tube rabbit hole...the place where 10 minutes magically turns into 3 hours and you're not sure how you got to the current video, but you can't remember what you were looking for initially, so you have to trace your steps back through the history section to remind yourself!!
      I agree it's a mixed blessing!
      I had the same problem looking up a word in the dictionary when I was in school...I'd get so distracted by interesting words along the way, I would forget what I was looking up! I started writing the word on my hand or arm before looking it up as a constant visual reminder. That way I could remember my goal, but still explore a little without getting completely off track and lost!

      Well, it’s clear that Eva has confused ADD with selfish impatience. The good news is, she can get over herself if she chooses to form those kinds of good habits. The bad news is, she’s going to need to get over herself and do the character work required to become a person who realizes there’s a better way. I hope for the sake of her relationships that she chooses the harder but more excellent way.

    Honestly, this video just pressed my angry button! We have ADHD, we are not crazy! We don't have "problems"! Most people with ADHD have an IQ that can blow the average person out of the water. We have trouble collecting and applying. Most people with ADHD are going to laugh at this video. We are all Different, ADHD changes from person to person. I am sick of people broadcasting garbage because they think they have some type of a qualification to do so!!! People like this are why so many people get misdiagnosed.

    • @archdukefranzferdinand4429
      @archdukefranzferdinand4429 2 года назад +1

      YES! ADHD is so stigmatized and over-diagnosed and it hurts the people who actually have it. After a rough 4 years of college I fell into a depression and saw a therapist who really helped me understand what ADHD really was. He made me realize how many things and issues I had in my life were a result of my ADHD and for so long I had spent my life trying to “fix” my ADHD and be “normal” when in reality ADHD is not something that can be fixed it’s simply something you have to learn to cope with and you cope with it by playing to your strengths. ADHD is not this common Benine disorder it’s made out to be and it can be truly debilitating but it can be a gift just as much as it is a curse if you learn to use it to your advantage!

To summarize: ADHD people lack the dopamine that should motivate you to complete boring tasks. Medication also increases norephinephrine which makes you more alert.

    • @piesho
      @piesho 8 лет назад +6

      Way out of the mark. The point here is that people with ADD tend to have a very limited set of activities that they consider interesting. People without ADD tend to adapt to the new job faster and easier than people with ADD. People with ADD start a new job and they immediately want to get rid of stupid practices, but people without ADD wait for the best opportunity to promote changes.
      More words are needed to explain what the good Dr is talking about, but he himself has ADD and thinks that everybody else requires just a few words to understand the message.

    I have ADHD, and my brain is always on high duty work by default, that’s why I can’t pay attention when people talk to me. But when I am really interested, my brain literally shuts off all the other works and I start to hyper focus and dominate in the conversation. This is how my brain works not only for conversation, but also for most parts of my life.

  • @SC-xi9to

    Is AD(H)D amongst adults (or in general) more accepted in the U.S.? I mean that society "accepts" the existence? Stupid question maybe, but here in Germany I think it's still so that the majority thinks it's a "made up disaese". Though recently I met 2 people who were really open minded and accepting it (both of them are in health care / social work sector). I usually don't tell people that I have it because those who know about symptoms will reckognize it on their own ;-) And I LOVE the idea of having a "hunter's brain" because that's what I've been experiencing all my life and this definition makes so much sense!
    I don't mind the video to be long and only talking because that's what I'm interested in and able to focus on: English, learning new things (about biology/adhd and stuff). And I ALWAYS scroll through comments why videos are still playing 😅 It was only hard as I heard the birds and cars outside and the cat scratching the sand in his box... But made it through the whole thing and am a little bit impressed that both of the doctors (they are doctors, aren't they?) confessed to have AD(H)D. So that's what led me to my initial question: Is ADHD/ADD amongst adults "accepted" in the USA?

    Nope. I loved my job. I was an investigator with CDCR. Always seemed different and always on the move. Eventually though, the job started to get boring because of the day to day operations of the job were the same. The situations were different but the way I worked, the style I investigated crimes stayed the same. Granted it took longer to get bored with that type of job but I did. The adrenaline from that type of job sustained me. When I retired, dopamine slammed to almost nothing. Not fun.

    Nice video about ADD and jobs. Most people see ADD only as an attention dissorder, but it is indeed different: we have hunter minds that hyper focus on things we find Interresting! This was the first video I saw on your channel, and I watched the newer stuff. Nothing about self development anymore, only right wing politics. 😥

    The title is misleading. There is no list of jobs... However, the MFT on the show did say some very important stuff and literally said the best jobs are the ones that you are interested in doing -- take that to mean something that perhaps you went to college for and not a job at a shop or in a warehouse somewhere. It's too bad the host was interrupting what he had to say with all her non sequiturs because he actually opened my eyes more to adult ADD.

    I agree. They could not have had people suffering with ADD in mind or them being ADD obviously did not review this video prior to posting... because if so, they would have found themselves completely bored and has already moved on to the next distraction or vidoe... Ugggghhh.... Even the freaking meds don't help to focus on this attempt. But hey thanks for thinking of us....

I feel like that isn't something that should be so widely misunderstood here. Did I miss something?

    The title is misleading, and I'm annoyed that I wasted 9 minutes waiting for the speakers to address a topic that never came up. This isn't fair to someone who already knows the basics of ADD and is looking for ways to cope with it. Is this a cynical bait and stick tactic to get more viewer and therefore advertising revenue? If so, shame on you!

    I also have ADD and my room is complete chaos! ^^" but my biggest problem is that I find it hard to be social and actually being with people. I would like to have an overview of everything that happens, but I always end I get headaches and not in control of anything. and it annoys me that I can not take it easy and let things happen. I want to know what will happen before it happens and can not handle last-minute thing. I'm not on medication and it is my own choice. but it does often I end up feeling alone because I can not contact my friends but almost waiting for the contacts me. I do not know why but I can not even do that. and everybody else gets it look so easy that they just chatting with everyone from school / work / friends every night. I am actually a little jealous but it's my own fault ... or is it? IDK I am the only one with ADD that feel this way?
