Is Tiger Woods' Masters win the greatest redemption story in sports history?
Hogan
The Herd with Colin Cowherd no I hate him, he’s a terrible person and I hope he never wins again. Go Phil!!! Tiger is one of the worst human beings of all time and not even close to a role model!!!
Colin Cowherd there was a chap by the name of Muhammad Ali who came back from from 4 years of political exile and had to face the most fearsome boxers of his generation George Foreman with all his speed and power gone. I was 8 years old and woke up early in what was then called Rhodesia to hear him knock Foreman out.
@The Herd with Colin Cowherd Now he is your favorite golfer when just last year you were questioning why everyone was ramping up the 🐅 comeback with such excitement when he won the 2018 Tour Championship. You told everyone to calm down chances are he was going to let us down again, and as far as winning any more majors chances are he was done doing that, simply because he wasn't getting any younger and the field of golfers at these majors were so much deeper than the decade he dominated. Which is it Colin?
@@bradfreemantle9112 you sound stupid, quit being a hater, or not. Don't hold your breath on your wish hoping 🐅 never wins again cause it's gonna happen. As far as your "go Phil" comment , you might wanna do some research on how pure the quality of a human Phil is he isn't in the running for Human Being of the year himself. Let me guess, go DJ, or Al heil Rory. It's what I mean when you sound stupid. Just sayin
My grandmother loved watching Tiger. She knew nothing about golf. What ya doing gandma? Just watching Tiger. She passed before his fall from grace. Was glad she didn't see that . He won the Masters on her birthday. That made me smile
That's way cool!
Bless ya grandma 👍
Wow. That makes me smile as well but also cry a little.
Goosebumps
And my grandpa sat right next to her and rooted against him haha.. me too man
We are all making our own comebacks, that's why we relate with Tiger.
Aayush Shrut god damn right
Well said
Someone had to say it 👏👏👏
yes...
Amen
Tiger had more to overcome: physically, emotionally, mentally, and personally. It's a redemption story. I never thought he'd win again, either. But I wasn't rooting against him. It was a great sports moment. And, don't forget, he beat the best of the best. All the top players were at Augusta and he came out on top.
"That sounds like an autopsy." Laughed at that! Great line.
Colin, this is without a doubt the best piece written I have seen on the topic. From his dominance to downfall and climb back to the top, you nailed everything and in such a professional yet laid back way. “Tiger, we owe you one” was absolutely brilliant. Being 24 I can only faintly remember sitting with my dad in his room watching tiger finish his rounds in complete dominating fashion. But being around for his demise and watching and rooting for him on this seamlessly never ending comeback has made this victory so much sweeter for me. You are absolutely spot on with the comment that we all love him more because of the mistakes and thing he went through that make him like so many of us. For the sport of golf and all of sports all over the world, I hope we see much more of tiger at the top on Sunday’s!
America loves a good comeback/redemption story, and Tiger is just that...
It's not just America who were united behind tiger. Anybody with a heart or soul was rooting for him.
In the late 90s Tiger got more people to play his sports than anyone I can remember...white, black, Asian...it didn’t matter...golf brought us together for even a short period of time because Tiger inspired us all...
This was actually a very good message. Thank you!
Colin is the best in the business. He’s wrong sometimes, sure, but when he’s right he’s really freakin right.
He's a blowhard that's more interested in hot takes than rational thoughts.
Well said.
Game of Golf needs heroes.
Game of golf needs Tiger.
We are blessed again with far more mature hero and father .in Tiger
Poetic summation of Tiger Woods' win on yesterday. Breath-takingly beautiful moment in sports history and I am grateful to see it happen in my lifetime. Thanks for the commentary Mr. Colin Cowherd, you're the best.
Who gives a f*ck about the world's most boring sport - scientific fact.
Spot on...exactly how I felt watching him win!
Hockey here in Canada brought us all together like nothing else ,I remember when my Blackhawks won the cup in 2010 ,I had tears in my eyes ,tears of joy like never before! I could just imagine what the Players were feeling. I was rooting for Tiger ,I even said it around two weeks ago that he would win again! It,s nice to be right when so many so called experts said he was done! Told ya so!
Still can't believe he actually won. Feels very surreal, which is hilarious considering this dude was the most dominant golfer ever and there was no shock about him winning tournaments in his prime. This one is a huge shock though.
I watched Tiger win 22 years ago and I watched him win again yesterday. It was amazing.
yawn.
theKONGBLOG wait 3 more years when he’s won the most majors. I can’t wait to see haters meltdown

Ok
Tiger Wood is the Michael Jordan of Golf today.
This is a great comeback story, especially going thru all those injuries in recent years.
Collin this is a W. Explained this perfectly.
As Humans we rise and fall, watching someone struggle, scratch, and claw for years, to reach the top once again is truly inspiring, and I am honored to have witnessed. Thank you Tiger, we are on our feet celebrating, thinking in our minds that we too can overcome some of the self-inflicted adversity in our own lives
Had the same conversation with a good friend - then we both laughed and said the country will start hating itself again tomorrow, but for one day unity was great!!
When I was a kid learning to golf, Tiger was dominant and it’s just so great to see him win again years later. It’s a wonderful comeback story.
It's simple and yet deep. We are all imperfect and we all recognize that no matter who you or we are, we all deserve a second or even third chance. Tiger Woods, represents all of us! We all have had are ups and down, we have gone thew the severe lows in life. Tiger and his life reminds of us and the tribulations that we have gone there and are going though. And most importantly, he and his story reminds that there's always a chance to comeback, survive, and thrive!
I have to say that as a guy who loved playing sports despite having minimal natural talent, I don't get what Colin is saying. Both Tiger and Michael Jordan had such natural, God-given talent that one of them was able to take time off to play baseball, and the other was able to recover from a serious injury and win again. I get more emotional when someone of average talent fights and fights and fights and when he wins a ribbon for defeating the local competition, he feels like he is king of the world, if only for the day.
I'm not all that familiar with Tiger and I know almost nothing about Michael Jordan, but I do know that they are both multi millionaires because they were, or are great at a sport. I am amazed by some people's talent but I find it hard to get chocked up when they win, regardless of the circumstances.
MJ wasn’t physically hurt. Tiger almost couldn’t walk. That’s why it was the greatest comeback ever
I'm a Griseled old Curmudgeon in Training. When I heard Tiger won the Masters: I cracked a Kawhi Leonard smile....
👏👏👏👏 good one lmao.
I never stopped loving him or dreaming 😭😭♥️
Oh stop!
4:15 colin speakin straight knowledge. What a powerful segment
He had the red/black outfit on... if you've ever played tiger Woods golfing games, you know that outfit means business...
Watching Colin made me want to get back up and try. The way he talks about Tiger being humbled. I’m at a low point. Makes me want to get up.
Mark Pitre Get Up!!!
We are all pulling for you! And if you need help we are here!!🙏
Hey mark do it no change is easy that’s why it’s called change I was there a year ago(rock bottom) and decided to fight and change my life I’m not all the way there but so much better now we’re here mark.....and being able to witness what Tiger Eldrick Woods did on Sunday at Augusta I will never forget
No matter the month, it’s always the season to get back your life.
Hope you got up mark pit
Best commentary yet in my opinion about Tigers miraculous win
Damn Colin nailed it, early 2000s, Tiger whacking the ball in red in an afternoon PGA major, Tony whacking someone at 9:00 on the Sopranos.
Yes she really did a number on him with one of his golf clubs. Tiger did not press charges on her; he should HAVE and she still got over 100 million.
Watching this makes me want to share a personal moment. My mother has been in a retirement community going on almost a year. She's been failing in her health and sometimes when we visited those moments when she was "with us" were getting shorter. On Masters weekend my sister, also a golfer and and Tiger fan, was visiting with mom. They watched on Saturday and mom was getting into it somewhat but said "Oh honey, he's been through so much, I'd love to see him win but I just don't know" Then on Sunday mom was on edge through the whole round, early in the morning which she's never up before mid-day - Mom was yelling and rooting for Tiger and was just like her old self as we hadn't seen her in a long time.
This is one of the moments my sisters and I will remember because she was alive and filled with it like we hadn't seen in so long. My mom passed a week ago today but it's pretty cool that she got to go up to heaven and shout to all of them up there that "Tiger is back" .... I don't know if they already knew, but I can damn sure tell you they knew when mom got there.
This brought tears to my eyes.Thank you.
@@avigrett1484 Wow man, I'd forgotten about this post. Tomorrow, the 25th is the anniversary of our mother's passing. Impossible to forget, my oldest sisters birthday. Thanks for the thoughts. Another reason to smile because my mother was unforgettable for anyone who met her.
Golf was just an instrument yesterday for Tiger Woods to convey to us that hardship and struggles in life still open up tiny doors to achieve great things. Hats off to the champion in life!
he said “i was hoping Francesco Molinari got ran over by a golf cart” damn bro you ain’t had to say all that
Right? I just wanted him to take a swim, which he obliged twice!
Ok who said that and when did they say that?
Michael White literally watch the video
Tiger is just an unbelievable guy, nothing United the US quite like tiger in his prime and he’s doing it again nowadays which we need more than ever, he’s just so damn likable and everyone wants to see him succeed
Noe Hernandez facts. Makes you proud to be an American.
Tiger life could be a box office movie after winning the masters.
I would love to see that movie. That would be amazing
You made my eyes water Colin 🙏🏼 Thank you
It would be great if NFL Films could do a video on Tiger's comeback, with the late John Facenda doing the voice-over.
Pretty good documentary on his comeback on Espn+
Mr.Facenda was unavailable for comment earlier when asked if he would consider working on this production.
This is HANDS DOWN the best segment of Cowherds career... 100% spot on. Considering I've never seen him even 50% right, I had to comment
Tiger's two putt on 9 is one of the greatest two putts ever.
Rarely do I agree with you Colin, but I do on this. To me too, GREATEST comeback in sports history. All time. And I was one of those criers. I couldn't help it. He deserved this.
Colin deserves an award for this. Nobody else in the business is this in touch with reality.
I can’t wait for the Hollywood blockbuster tigers life will inevitably inscribe 🐅 ❤️
This may be colins best monologue ever
It’s been 4 years and I truly think this is still the greatest moment in sports history. Absolutely insane what Tiger did
Omg he’s talking golf and not LeBron or the Lakers? Favoriting this
Even though you’re horrible for going after Mayfield, this was a beautiful message. I have watched and loved Tiger my entire life. I’m only 17, so that means I remember more bad than good. My brother and I would go crazy over Tiger for every tournament he was in because it was an obsession to see him win again. The only memory I had of him winning were only mere images, and to see him win this tournament was the greatest feeling ever. I’m a Cleveland fan, and this meant more to me than the Cavs winning it in 2016. That’s how much Tiger means to his fans.
WELL SAID COLIN I AGREE! I CRIED YESTERDAY AND I CRIED WATCHING THIS. WE NEEDED THAT FROM TIGER ❤️
Tiger woods came back from the bottom and he showed every one that he had problems. Everyone has problems and how we deal with them defines us. Tiger woods showed people he can be the best golfer on the planet after being on the bottom. This is what everyone knows tiger woods put himself together from the bottom and beat the best pga players on the planet to win another major.
Tiger 🐯 is Back. Americans Love Comebacks, Resurrections and Redemptions. Ray B.
I can not believe someone that the whole world had written off finally won masters. What a miracle
We love the chaos of building someone up, bringing them down from a pedestals created & watching them bounce back to glory. We have a passive emotional attraction towards Tigers story. It represents us in ways. Things coming full circle.
Appearing too perfect causes resentment. Even from people who “love” you.
We like to see the rise and fall. It’s an emotional roller coaster. Most peoples lives aren’t polarizing enough. There is no real success or failure. Just mediocrity and routine.
We love the comeback story & mythology.
The humanity of Tiger comes out once it’s discovered he has weaknesses. We see that in ourselves.
The USA is the land of second chances for a reason. We are a VERY forgiving culture.
That’s what Tiger represents.
nevermindme313 . You said it all brother . Facts
MaineLocs 513 thank you brother 🙏🏿🏁
Colin my boy. You sir deserve a like!
A golf player that gets a hug from his competitor after he’s beat them? ONLY Tiger. That says it all.
Wish I could "like" your comment more than once. Someone said earlier, sports transcends, Tiger transcends🐅🐐
"I have considered him for the last 5 or 6 years as a former golfer"
you were cold and wrong! don't mince words, eat them!
By no means am I a Colin sympathizer but he did on twitter
I came looking for this.
we all were wrong.
Colin should have ate his words on camera. Just like when Tiger was struggling he was ON CAMERA telling the world how Tiger was washed up and would never win again. Doing it on Twitter was a cop out
More like Colin COWARD. For all the shade he was throwing Tiger’s way saying he was finished, he needs to eat crow. These Journalists have no spine. Know when you’re wrong and you were horribly wrong that Tiger was finished.
Well said, Colin ... I cried again just listening to your commentary!
Most of us fans don't care whats happening of the course or field, we watch the guys for their athletic ability, thats it. He is the man.
Sports connected us yesterday - so true - thank you! I was thrilled to hear about Tiger's win!! 1 in a million comeback story! Now I know my dreams can come true, too!!
The first thing colin has ever said that I actually and truly agree with. Thanks colin. I owe you one.
Then why are you a loyal fan?
We’d be saying the same thing about Peyton Manning if he’d won that Super Bowl against the Seahawks.
If's and buts all day long man...
Except our defense rocked his world... most under appreciated defense of all time
good job colin. it was like a dream watching it happen
Beautiful, poetic and moving monologue, Colin. Very well done, my man.
Amazing reflection about Tiger's comeback as an story of us.
For circumstances too long to say, I stayed at work 2 hours after I got off (with a short 9 hour turn around shift) just so I could watch the final round with Tiger Woods. He had me just as you said, Hypnotized. I grew up with him too like most people. Some of these 18-20 year olds at work didn't understand why I would stay after work at work to watch him play. They don't know.
Golf without Tiger is Golf without a purpose....
Omar, stop talking.

What amazing commentary. I'm in tears right now...
Also the most people have agreed in the comments of a Colin Cowherd video
The biggest comeback since Lazarus
Fair enough, but how many majors did Lazarus win?
Hogan's story was far more impressive.
chris tipton Debatable. They’re two of the best comebacks in all of sports though
I never doubted woods he’s too good just goes to show how powerful failing forward can be!!
People can change, tiger can change!!!
A simple I was wrong would have been what a bigger man said.
no, what he said was perfect
Well said. That's the exact reason I love the Olympic Games so much. It brings all of America together.
If someone had won other than Tiger, that golfer would have been hated around the world. The world wanted Tiger to win more than ever
Tiger never admitted that he is a former golfer, you, Colin, said that! LOL
Respect to you brother
Great piece, Colin.
And 9/11. That was the last time America was completely united.
Black Friday?
I think we all wanted a golf cart run Molinari over. We with ya Colin 😂
Herd .. You get it... thats why I listen to you! Tiger made a movie! SPORTS!
I love it and green suites him well. Beautifully said and 💓 felt as well as the existing division.
as soon as Molinari put it in the *drink* at Rae's Creek...I thought..."it's Tigers to win!"..and sure enough, I was right! :-)
I don't watch Golf but MJ and Tiger are actually good friends.
So many men cried manly tears when he won. I did.
I met him in Vegas at a craps table. VERY nice to us when we were told it was a private table. He apologized. He’s NOT a bad guy.
Colin, your best segment yet. Thank you.
Watching these tiger videos make cry
His family seem to love the guy and he seems to treat them quite well. As for his ex wife common how many North Americans and throughout the world had affairs.
His ex is just fine with her $800 million

God Bless Tiger Woods!!
I thank Mrs. Woods for gifting 🐅 To us all.
Tiger for president 2020?
My grandmother would've loved this
I’ve never played golf, I’m in love with 2 things my family and disc golf. I watch Tiger
Although I wasn’t alive I have to imagine the miracle on ice in 1980 was the last time the country was this united over sports
As far as almost an entire country rooting for the same thing, the 1980 hockey team was on another level. I'm an unapologetic, huge Tiger fan, but I know plenty of people who just don't like the guy and will root for him to fail till he never golfs again.
The reasons not to like Tiger are some of the reasons we shouldn't like ourselves. Everything Tiger has done, either I've done myself or I know PLENTY of people who have.
Colin said it first, the GOAT debate literally runs national sports talk shows. Its good for his "business"
Colin's biggest W ever. By far. And now with Damar Hamlin, sports again united us a million times deeper than this.
This guy never admits when he is wrong
Incredible Colin. Thank you
Yesterday was the Ryder Cup. And the US only had one player.
My guess is some of the members of Augusta National were seeing things they never thought those hallowed grounds would see. And everyone is afraid to discuss it because they no they'll never get through those gates again. Just ask McCord.
Great perspective. For the longest time as a fan of golf I didn't want him to win. But I started to pull for him in the last year or two and you just made me realize why... he is human, and he made mistakes, his body betrayed him, and he went from being this mythical character to being a man who wanted to win at the one thing he knew. Congratulations Tiger. You worked a lifetime for this moment.
Same reason why grown men cried over Derrick Rose dropping 50
