Colin Cowherd there was a chap by the name of Muhammad Ali who came back from from 4 years of political exile and had to face the most fearsome boxers of his generation George Foreman with all his speed and power gone. I was 8 years old and woke up early in what was then called Rhodesia to hear him knock Foreman out.

@The Herd with Colin Cowherd Now he is your favorite golfer when just last year you were questioning why everyone was ramping up the 🐅 comeback with such excitement when he won the 2018 Tour Championship. You told everyone to calm down chances are he was going to let us down again, and as far as winning any more majors chances are he was done doing that, simply because he wasn't getting any younger and the field of golfers at these majors were so much deeper than the decade he dominated. Which is it Colin?

@@bradfreemantle9112 you sound stupid, quit being a hater, or not. Don't hold your breath on your wish hoping 🐅 never wins again cause it's gonna happen. As far as your "go Phil" comment , you might wanna do some research on how pure the quality of a human Phil is he isn't in the running for Human Being of the year himself. Tiger had more to overcome: physically, emotionally, mentally, and personally. It's a redemption story. I never thought he'd win again, either. But I wasn't rooting against him. It was a great sports moment. And, don't forget, he beat the best of the best. All the top players were at Augusta and he came out on top.

Colin, this is without a doubt the best piece written I have seen on the topic. From his dominance to downfall and climb back to the top, you nailed everything and in such a professional yet laid back way. “Tiger, we owe you one” was absolutely brilliant. Being 24 I can only faintly remember sitting with my dad in his room watching tiger finish his rounds in complete dominating fashion. But being around for his demise and watching and rooting for him on this seamlessly never ending comeback has made this victory so much sweeter for me. You are absolutely spot on with the comment that we all love him more because of the mistakes and thing he went through that make him like so many of us. For the sport of golf and all of sports all over the world, I hope we see much more of tiger at the top on Sunday’s!

It's simple and yet deep. We are all imperfect and we all recognize that no matter who you or we are, we all deserve a second or even third chance. Tiger Woods, represents all of us! We all have had are ups and down, we have gone thew the severe lows in life. Tiger and his life reminds of us and the tribulations that we have gone there and are going though. And most importantly, he and his story reminds that there's always a chance to comeback, survive, and thrive!

I have to say that as a guy who loved playing sports despite having minimal natural talent, I don't get what Colin is saying. Both Tiger and Michael Jordan had such natural, God-given talent that one of them was able to take time off to play baseball, and the other was able to recover from a serious injury and win again. I get more emotional when someone of average talent fights and fights and fights and when he wins a ribbon for defeating the local competition, he feels like he is king of the world, if only for the day.

Watching this makes me want to share a personal moment. My mother has been in a retirement community going on almost a year. She's been failing in her health and sometimes when we visited those moments when she was "with us" were getting shorter. On Masters weekend my sister, also a golfer and and Tiger fan, was visiting with mom. They watched on Saturday and mom was getting into it somewhat but said "Oh honey, he's been through so much, I'd love to see him win but I just don't know" Then on Sunday mom was on edge through the whole round, early in the morning which she's never up before mid-day - Mom was yelling and rooting for Tiger and was just like her old self as we hadn't seen her in a long time.
This is one of the moments my sisters and I will remember because she was alive and filled with it like we hadn't seen in so long. My mom passed a week ago today but it's pretty cool that she got to go up to heaven and shout to all of them up there that "Tiger is back" .... I don't know if they already knew, but I can damn sure tell you they knew when mom got there.

The only memory I had of him winning were only mere images, and to see him win this tournament was the greatest feeling ever. We love the chaos of building someone up, bringing them down from a pedestals created & watching them bounce back to glory. We have a passive emotional attraction towards Tigers story. It represents us in ways. Things coming full circle.
Appearing too perfect causes resentment. Even from people who “love” you.
We like to see the rise and fall. It’s an emotional roller coaster. Most peoples lives aren’t polarizing enough. There is no real success or failure. Just mediocrity and routine.
We love the comeback story & mythology.
The humanity of Tiger comes out once it’s discovered he has weaknesses. We see that in ourselves.
The USA is the land of second chances for a reason. We are a VERY forgiving culture.
    That’s what Tiger represents.

Amazing reflection about Tiger's comeback as an story of us.

For circumstances too long to say, I stayed at work 2 hours after I got off (with a short 9 hour turn around shift) just so I could watch the final round with Tiger Woods. He had me just as you said, Hypnotized. I grew up with him too like most people. Some of these 18-20 year olds at work didn't understand why I would stay after work at work to watch him play. They don't know.

As far as almost an entire country rooting for the same thing, the 1980 hockey team was on another level. I'm an unapologetic, huge Tiger fan, but I know plenty of people who just don't like the guy and will root for him to fail till he never golfs again.

Yesterday was the Ryder Cup. And the US only had one player.
My guess is some of the members of Augusta National were seeing things they never thought those hallowed grounds would see. And everyone is afraid to discuss it because they no they'll never get through those gates again. Just ask McCord.

Great perspective. For the longest time as a fan of golf I didn't want him to win. But I started to pull for him in the last year or two and you just made me realize why... he is human, and he made mistakes, his body betrayed him, and he went from being this mythical character to being a man who wanted to win at the one thing he knew. Congratulations Tiger. You worked a lifetime for this moment.
