Staj has taken some tough jobs.
Maybe he deserves credit for setting the mariners up for their treble era.
But to me he has taken a team here that should be better.
He has shown too much quality in international management with phillipines and matildas to be dismissed.
But he's clearly a very stubborn individual and I can't imagine he's in the best place mentally.
A tricky dressing room atmosphere at the moment.
Imagine if he took them to a wooden spoon - would he be the first coach to claim three with different sides ?

Very lucky to get away with a point.
Given we got that point you can say - "brave" or "stubborn" enough to stick with it.
I have both fm and coaching exp!! Lol and in my experience coaches the higher up you go say stuff like "don't change your formation" and "stick to the plan" as rules of thumb to give their players confidence in what they're doing. But it is up to the players to work with the directions and the analysis to execute the strategy
And if you can nail that plan, then we will be more competitive.
If Australia can play with space behind the opponent- it makes sense to play quickly, but they give the ball away so much.
I thought Hrustic was poor. I thought we looked much better in the second half.
Borrello and mgree should put one away- we should concede at least one too.
Gauci bailed us out with a desperate and timely recovery and eventual cupped save (turns out to be offside marginally) the disallowed goal...
To say we "dominated" I don't agree.
We had the better of the chances- but they should've scored two.
Both teams missing their best creators..
But we were hemmed in and they were zipping the ball around and looking superior.
After hrustic comes out the balance opens up- and they start giving us more space to play.
Mgree is so good! I'm thrilled we have him. Burgess had a dodgy 5/10 minutes but looks solid as.
Definitely ahead of Rowles at the moment.
Not a believer in Yengi yet.
I still say kuol despite a league form.
    He'll come good.
Goodwin and mgree offer threat, but we need an Adams or a Koncharski or a kuol or an Arzani or one of those Macarthur lads milanovic etc to hit some form and come in alongside duke and Goodwin..
I would love to see Dylan Pierias come in - play on the right or the left and give it genuine pace.

If Arnold had played what is basically a 5-4-1 formation at home, he would have been slaughtered. The formation creates the problem you boys mentioned: They try to play out from the back - fine, but when the opposition gets their press right and we have to kick it long, 7 members of our squad will be deep in our own half there's nobody forward but Duke surrounded by 2 to 4 defenders and we're probably going to lose possession. What annoys me the reason Poppa is in the job is partly down to the lack of goals, and we're probably going to end being more defensive. 😂 Bahrain are gunna sit very deep, and will probably be delighted if we play this shape. Mata should play as a DLP for Wanderers, I know everybody wants him to hit the ground running, give it time, he'll still a success by the end of the season imo. Wanderers signed Mata because he's Mata. Sydney signed Costa because they really needed a winger - that's a big difference. I'm still happy they did.

Formation wil likely be the same, but expect the wingbacks to act a little differently I think. Less of a flat back 5, more pushing high up and getting numbers in a press.
