I pulled the wire off and boot was still stuck on there. I pulled with everything I had. It wouldn't budge. I gave it a couple shots of CRC Brakleen and it came right off with ease.
Just broke the plugs off, boots come right off when the plugs are broken. Use a big screwdriver and hammer or a vice grips and a bending motion and they break quickly. You know plugs normally break when ya don't want them to..
with the very small space to work on and if you brake the plug, how the hell are you going to get the rest of the plug out? in that little space you have?
You should definitely replace the wires when you do the plugs. Get a crow bar or short wrecking bar and hammer and break off the back ones. Clean around the plug whole before removing rest of plug and clean when plug is out. Replacing is easy. Careful not to hit the O2 sensor in middle. On dog bone motor mounts also remove bolts on each side and tilt the engine forward.
I use a single loop of string - one end locks on boot(similar to his) and the other end of string loop locks( cinching ) on a wrench or screwdriver. Boot or wire is not damaged.
Sounds like the older style, the metal shield slides on the boot first then install on plug...those I usually end up breaking the boot sliding off the shield, then finish tearing off the rest with Needle nose.. no real easy way, yes a real pain.....
You sir are a genius, and you deserve an award! Thank you...i never would have been able to pull them without your help 😁
:-) I always think of Gump when I hear that line.

Bessimer tech, interesting name. are you located in pueblo colorado?
It ripped the rubber boot in half. What about the heat shields? Do you slide them towards the engine or toward the wire?
