    Can you do an updated version specifically for trans folks? Pride is definitely more for white, gay and bi cis folks than it is for BIPOC and trans folks. Cities in Missouri, Iowa, and West Virginia are definitely not appropriate for trans folks, and cities in Ohio are also questionable.

      1000% agree! I am originally from Huntington, WV area. It's an absolute shit hole and so drug infested. It's also known as one of the most unhealthy and saddest cities across America. I moved to AZ and the following year, my child came out as trans. We don't feel safe in this neighborhood either and we homeschool because of it. My kids were attacked for wearing a mask to school. I can't imagine sending my openly trans kid to school here. And cannot imagine living in half the places he mentioned as a trans person. I won't subject my kid to it. Please do your research first, everyone!

    TYVM for this information! Although knowing this about the cities is very important, I believe the way the states treat us matters more. Just take Florida lately. I know it has many gay friendly cities but the state wants to take away any rights we have. I have lived in many gay friendly cities but got tired of my rights being attacked by the states. I refuse to support a LGBTQ+ hateful government anymore. Some smaller cities and towns in pro-LGBTQ+ states are around that love us. I live by Ithaca, NY and although it is expensive right by Cornell University, there are many supportive countryside communities and small towns nearby that are very affordable. Check out the states that have our backs. With so many liberal people, there are likely to be a lot of liberal towns and cities that welcome and protect us.

      We live in Toledo and can vouch for it being very LGBTQ friendly, especially Adams St where we can walk the street holding hands.

      @@queermoney That’s surprising but good to hear. I say surprising only because I don’t know Ohio well. Was in Toledo many years ago during a cross country trip but not long enough to get a real feel for the vibe there. Also I can see what you might mean about the Pride stuff. I’m in NYC and a lot of it feels extremely corporate and people come from all over to spend way too much money getting drunk in the street like its a gay St. Patty’s day, which is fine if thats your thing but it all feels over commercialized and not terribly inspiring. As for Ohio it is one of those states I hear has swung so heavily right-wing in the last few years to the point of being hostile but I could just be letting social media and political media color my perception.

    I was just going to comment that Detroit wasn’t in here and here we are number one, it’s a very accepting and diverse city. And getting better and better every year, diversity is everywhere and generally accepted. However, to be honest with you ,that cost of 84,000 is extremely deceiving, you see there are many neighborhoods that are not in good shape at all, which are extremely cheap, and there are many neighborhoods that are expensive to high mid prices,generally downtown and midtown , Corktown, Indian/ West Village, which is where a good portion of the LGBTQ population lives . Very LGBTQ friendly,, some really really nice people, the pride flag flies proudly at City Hall every June along with numerous hotels, establishments and corporations. Love it here. Ferndale especially , and in Royal Oak in the suburbs have very large LGBTQ populations and the flag flies proudly there all over also.

    I love lists and glad I stumbled across your channel! I want to thank you for taking the time and presenting the data. There were years when I NEVER would have considered most cities on this list. But life happens and the cost of living in the USA has skyrocketed so much so that I'm beginning to wonder if I can even afford to stay here in 5, 10 or 20 years. Upstate New York. St Louis? Say it ain't so! Even a "modest" life in Florida is slipping away. Anyway, I'm rambling but again, appreciate that you've opened my eyes. Everyone is a critic and I'm sure Dubuque is perfect for some Gay gent out there, approaching retirement, just not me. Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Ciao.

      The largest reason why crime is so high in those places is they are under Conservative/Nationalist leadership for decades where former Nazi POW crotch goblins are in power at local and state government who treat those area as their own fiefdom.
      Additionally, the ridiculously loose gun laws of Missouri and other "Red States" makes it easy access to firearms bought by private/strawman dealers who are relatives of local law enforcement selling to criminals. Then claim they were stolen or purchased legally and failure of local law enforcement to do their jobs because of being full of White Supremacist shit stains in their ranks all the way up to the DC. While the insurance companies pay for the stolen firearms rather than penalizing the illegal firearms trafficking.
      Worse is that Military Industrial Complex and US Government make sure that firearms are intentionally given to criminals on purpose by certain Government organizations including the Private Prison Nexus needs to continually create future criminals. As a well, educated Proletariat is the antithesis of our current Neoliberal to Nationalist Plutocracy. Which is why we're always dealing with the perpetual cycle of school to prison because it's a guaranteed money maker for the Department of Correction and their associates in secondary markets. The fact that certain foreign Government's lobbyists also help to continue the problem too so our Government and public can't go backwards to how it was before the Error of Reagan and also get rid of the current dipshits in Congress on both sides who are corrupted and senile.
      My neighbor's son-in-law who was a St Louis cop had to quit because of racist threats for marrying a white woman like it's the 1950s before Virginia v. Loving. The St Louis Law Enforcement is a White Supremacist run organization that pretty much creates crime by various covert and overt means. While on the Illinois side most Minority law enforcement join the St Clair Police Union to get their benefits and live here in St Clair County.

    Actually you can get homes in Buffalo for a lot cheaper than that. Some parts of Buffalo you can pick up a home for $50. It just depends on where you're looking. There are lots of homes that are nice in Buffalo that you can get for under $100. You can go to Niagara falls which is about 20 minutes north of Buffalo and pick up a really nice home for about 70 and a really nice neighborhood. 481,000 you can move to Grand Island which is a pretty athletic community has good schools there's a very very low crime and you can get a really nice house for $181,000 there you can probably get a four bedrooms three bathrooms 2,000 + square feet maybe 3000 sq ft for $181,000. Just depends on where you're looking at. Buffalo has an extremely extremely awesome lgbtq community if that's what you're looking for. There are certain parts of Buffalo that are bad in certain parts that are good like any City. I would say 181,000 is the high-end.that is more like a home that has apartments in it. There are a lot of homes in Buffalo that have been turned into doctors offices and apartment buildings so maybe that's the reason that the cost is where it is but just personally knowing the area 181,000 is extremely high I'd say you can get a three bedroom two bathroom house and maybe 1300 1400 sq ft for right around 75 or 80..

    This listing is helpful perhaps for couples looking to buy a house in small towns that may tolerate pride celebrations but have few housing, mental and medical health resources or social outlets. I’ve lived in both Syracuse and Rochester NY in an attempt to cut costs after decades of the ridiculously expensive rental rates in NYC, and indeed the apartment and rent to own homes were absolutely affordable, bus aside from their annual pride events, there were barley any social events outside of a few tiny bars with the same 6-10 patrons in heavy rotation and I was BORED comatose the entire time!! Not to mention the long, freezing cold winters that most 50+ folks avoid at all costs… especially dealing with the relentless pain of arthritis!! Thanks for the info and effort nonetheless… I’ll subscribe and wait for an updated review of more socially upbeat, culturally diverse cities with much warmer weather. 😎✌🏾

    • @fendiking3909
      @fendiking3909 Год назад +2

      @@EastSide-qc5oy I agree, the fact that NYC has the best and biggest selection of jobs, but as any true New Yorker knows, we spend the majority of our lives working to afford the luxuries we barely get to enjoy, because we have to work more than we get to play. EVERYTHING is way more expensive since COVID hit, so I’m thinking of relocating Southwest, like Las Vegas where employment opportunities are always available and in heavy rotation, the cost of living is way less costly (car insurance rates in NYC would be a months rent down in the desert), and personally the dry desert environment would be rather therapeutic in more ways than one. Second choice, a seaside city in Southern California for fun in the sun yearlong and road trips into Mexico… arriba!!

    • @EastSide-qc5oy
      @EastSide-qc5oy 11 месяцев назад

      @@fendiking3909 Yeah NYC is still insane and getting more so. Housing everywhere seems to be getting so much worse though. Did you make any decisions? I’m still here. I would love the dryness of Vegas (I hate humidity). Probably not the culture though. I could probably tolerate it if I could find niches away from cliche Vegas and stay away. I lived in southern california for a couple years (and northern for many more). I miss California a lot but that’s all super expensive these days too.

    At first I was surprised at the cities listed in the top 10. Most of them are in deep RED/conservative/evangelical ( small c )christian states. Awful places to be different. Then I reconsidered that the two metrics you are looking at is a fair equality rating and inexpensive housing. Oh wait....that changes the way many were thinking. If one measures the equality rating of entire states., using something like hate crimes against LGBTQ+ per 1000 people that really changes the heat map. In deep red states, rural areas are much less safe and fair for people that are.different. People have reason to leaver rural areas for better job opportunities. Add onto the positive of a better job, a different person has less chance of thriving in any way in a hateful environment.. Cities are the land of opportunity and a sanctuary. Sure many cities not on this list have far higher acceptance ratings and tremendous opportunities BUT housing costs and cost of living is much higher. Red states will continue to elect anti-different politicians and enact anti-different state legislation. Those are STATE LAWS and they will come for you in the city. Your different vote still counts, but is drowned out in deep red states. Move instead into a purple state like those in IOWA, MICHIGAN, OHIO or NEW YORK and vote there to help make a difference for all in the state.. Abandon rural MO, WV and KY for more civil states. Those in all the other states not mentioned, ask yourself, will you always be oppressed there? Are you okay with that? No? Move to a purple state....aka swing state....city or inexpensive reasonable rural area. VOTE!
