I was there in 86, and it was wide open. Bed and breakfast all the way down the side of Balaton, 24-hour service for rooms in Budapest, nothing like Soviet bloc expectations. Moved on to Prague after, totally different story, entire experience could have been scripted by John Le Carre.

I didn't know him as much as I do today so back then he was a new face in movies to me and only got to know and like him after Hitman and Die Hard 4.0, but it's so cool to realise things like this decades later, lol.

The premise though, wasn't really sustainable.
