If I missed anything I'll leave it here! Just as a note for Airborne 2 the last platform has boosters underneath, I just didn't show it! I'm being told holding down rocket drift when transferring directions helps keep the drift going!
7:54 on dust up 1 right here you can fly up and thread the needle between the sign and the mountain and then if you flip right after you pass the sign you skip a ton and it lines you up perfectly 8:08 instead of dropping down after the second boost pad if you jump the the right side again then flip to the right right after you fall off and you stay really close to the corner after flying off you can skip quite a bit too
You missed the opportunity to use the word Definitely...lol Sorry, couldn't resist. Thanks for the vid, great job. ALMOST makes me want to download fortnite to play the game...but not quite.
I’ve done a lot of speed testing in private matches and found that: • Drifting has a far greater impact at low speeds, and low-charge drifts do almost nothing at high speeds. •• For example: A 4-bar drift (counting 1 side only, out of 18 bars) gives 75kph @ 570kph, 36 @ 648, 24 @ 743. • Charging beyond 9 bars is almost never worth it. 9 bars gives 200kph @ 570kph, while a full 18 bars only gives 250kph at 570kph. (the 8th bar is the last short bar, so when it hits the big section and starts making noise you know you’re good) • The green boost pads always give exactly 100kph instantly, regardless of your current speed. Then you get ~1 second of gradual speed increase, same as Turbo & Drifting, totaling ~50 kph. • The Turbo button always gives ~133kph instantly if you’re above 560kph, then the 50kph gradual, and after 1 second you get a 1 second window to hit it again, which always gives you ~138kph regardless of whether you press it .1 or .9 seconds after the option appears. (which makes it beneficial to press it late) • Hitting a wall or other car slows you 20-65kph, depending on how hard you the impact is (grazing it does 20, but a 70 degree slam does 65) • Lava slows you for 1.5 seconds, averaging ~135kph lost.
damn bro thats some good intel, one thing i cant seem to get consistently is the wind tunnel speed boost when ur behind cars, it seems to happen randomly when im stuck in a big group of cars and i cant ever seem to get it when im like second place for example behind number 1, its a mechanic i dont really understand lol
what I would love is a timed mode where you see a "ghost car" where it's your previous attempt. and you basically race against yourself to practice and get a good as you possibly can get.
FYI- Holding the drift button lets you keep your drift charge through flying and landing! You can even start drifting with a tap like usual, then press and hold just before you go airborne. Very useful for keeping your charge when you realize you’re about to leave the surface for some reason.
Wow! I didnt know someone could posess that much knowledge on a game that just came out, you probably spent alot of time to find these shortcuts. You deserve a sub!
44:45 some booost pads are baits as said earlier but some are tight corner extra hazard compensations. No use in my books but if that helps to anyone be my guest
This is BLOODY FANTASTIC! I will say though, there's at least a little bit of "just do this and this and this" coming down to the end of the video; those simple(ish) things for you are damn brutal for me to even try 😂.
Some guys and I have figured out almost every optimal route for every map. And that translates perfectly into ranked, as proof that those really are the fastest routes. This game is so much fun to figure out, because in some cases taking the shortcut is actually way slower. I played lots of Rocket League as well as Trackmania, so no wonder i am so addicted, and climbing the top of the Leaderboard. Cool Video to get to know all Tracks, and tricks.
Bro help me with tilted because that’s the track I have the most trouble beating people in. Every other track I can usually win if I play good enough but on titled for some reason no matter what I do people always pass me
I do wish that more of the shortcuts gave more of a well shortcut then the regular path because some the highest risk ones dont even feel close to the most rewarding.
At 7:56 on Dust up 1 there is a turn sign on the inside of the turn that you can squeeze next to. It's difficult but I think it could be faster. You would get less boost though of course. At 14:18 on Puddle Jumper I see a lot of players go only into the second part of the tunnel which makes sense because it's a straighter line, thus faster if you don't need the boost. I think it would be even faster to just dodge onto the bottom of it, eliminating the need to hover and overall needing less vertical movement. At 15:28 on Bone Cavern 2 in the first tunnel I think it's more efficient to use dodges than to hover. The first hazard you can dodge onto the left wall and jump off so that you land right after the hazard without hovering. The later hazards you can dodge onto the ceiling to skip hovering. Overall I think you want to limit hovering as much as possible except when using it with boost. At 18:25 on Windy Way I think the fastest route is to go ontop of the tunnel or on the ceiling and then hover boost over the mountain all the way to the left of the checkpoint. You can probably use a dodge upwards to gain the height because you don't need it for a sharp turn or to get onto an angled surface. At 18:54 on Windy Way again, you missed a hidden turbo pad. It's up on a cliff to the left. You need to boost and hover off the big jump if you want to take it efficiently. The two turbo pads you called bait on the big white curved turn make it easier to reach. Actually helped me win a race once or twice. I haven't played the expert tracks enough yet to have anything to add there. Im plat 2 for reference if anyone is wondering. I didn't know some of the stuff you showed so thank you for taking the time to research the maps. Glad I won't have to learn the expert tracks from scratch!
Glad to see you taking the lead in making more in depth videos about the racing game, watched the whole thing it just flew by. Satisfying commentary. 👏
Not sure if you have found it yet or not but i am only just watching this for the 1st time. On Sidewinder you were talking about connecting drifts, i find it alot easier to connect them if you tap and hold your drift button whilst drifting 1 way then quickly tap and hold whilst switching directions to maintain the drift, you can also use this to get tighter angles by holding the same direction when you tap and hold, hope that helps, awesome vid btw, some very useful tips 🙏🏻
In puddle jump one after the first checkpoint you can decelerate or drift hard to the left then fly on the rock to reset your jump meter and go on the billboard and skip the whole beginning drift part
@32:25 to keep a boost building while airborne, hold the drift button or simply underthrust down onto the track-momentum and cornering immediately continue.
20:14 there is even a second boost pad at the building at the right. You can fly over to after the first boost pad. 19:27 at this point you can fly with turbo and use a roll to the left at the end. 28:52 after the boost pads you can fly around the corner. It is possible with turbo or without additional turbo.
as someone coming from comptettive racing games since ctr (og one) this game felt too easy im glad they added more difficult tracks plus newer versions, the grind is there man i finally decide to go for unreal this time since the new rank skin looks sick on elite, im nearly there already
I do have one tip for racers. It is a difficult mechanic and I don't know for sure if it's worth it but, if you are in a tunnel that goes straight and has walls. You can drift on the very corners of where the wall and floor intersects on that rounded out part. Again, it is difficult and I don't know if it's even worth it. You can also do this with tubes.
Hey Leth I gotta question. Do the white and orange ripples on the sides of the road slow u down? I feel like I get passed when run over them but idk for sure
A huge thankyou for this video!! I've used alot of these shortcuts especially the ones for pleasant pitstop and tilted turnpike and they've helped me grind through Plat to Diamond and I just got a 2nd place on Olympus so I'm feeling good about climbing to Elite and this video is a huge part so again thank you!
For the continuous drift while changing directions, I’ve found it’s easier to hold the drift button while changing directions to keep it in the same drift
While drifting, you can can hold rocket drift in conjunction with a steering direction to change drift directions without loss of buildup (or press it several times in a row with same direction to make a tight corner even tighter).
tip for tilted turnpike: on the bits where you have to wall climb, on both of them if you have a boost saved you can skip having to go on the walls and fly through the whole thing, first one you can do pretty consistently but the second one is very hard to do without wall grappling, i think youd have to front flip to get the distance but i suck too much rn lol
@lethamyr : very strong abbreviation at 14:17 : fly to the left wall and land on the billboard to recharge your flight. This saves a lot of time! (usable without turbo)
Damn I had no idea Rocket Racing would have such a high skill ceiling. Do you have any thoughts on how they could lean harder into this and give it lots of replayability?
@@Lethamyr once that map maker releases (assuming good) the community will do it themselves. I can't wait to see how open those maps will be unless it forces them to put a certain amount of checkpoints and the death zone around the track.
The piggy at 43:37 that he goes through has 2 inline boosters on top. Through some testing it seems you have to go out of the 3rd pipe and onto the 4th on the outside to get it. I cant get it smoothly enough to use it in a race, but i see it being possible to get both of these then the one on the floor
Hey Leth, when you go airborne while drifting, there is a way to not lose drift. All you have to do is hold in the drift button while airborne and then release it again once you're then straight and back on the ground
36:53 yo leth, it’s nothing too important but there is another set of boosters on the rock connected to that sign at that last turn in airborne 2 (you would need a wider approach to be able to land it but it’s somewhat worth it)
I learned a lot from watching this video. Definitely some need little hidden boosts to look for. I just got to the Elite rank yesterday, but the only thing that's been rough is ranking up. I've seen deranks when I was like 1st place or top 4. Idk, probably just a me issue lol but cool video none the less.
Thank you Leth! Thank you for bringing some positivity to the game. This will be fun to practice. These devs worked hard and should feel proud for their work.

i have a question, if you take 2 booster with all 4 wheel (so 1 booster with front wheel and other with rear wheel) maybe when you are drifting it count like 2 boost?
I've heard most people say you should avoid being in the air as much as possible, and often use turbo power to get down from the air quicker. In your video (which is excellent by the way, thanks a tonne) you frequently fly just to cut off bits off small bits of a corner, meaning you loose the boost from a drift, and lose speed because you're in the air. I'm wondering if you think the same about those small corner cuts now? I do get that flying to get a booster for example makes sense, I'm meaning cutting the inside of a long corner off the edge of the track - that seems like it would be worse?
Hey, I got to champion last week and I noticed on the track that lethamyr mentioned its mostly an air track, people will drift some of those corners instead, technically the routes are a little slower but you can gain much more speed and boost from drifts so its all about balancing when to use 1 method over another.
