How do you get the cover off the DR-5. I removed the screws on the bottom and there still seems to be something holding it in like another screw. I don't want to force it or break anything that would be hard or impossible to replace. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you
I have a boss dr-5 that shows no life. I changed out the 2 470uf capacitors bit it still doesn't come on, it's very clean inside and already see that the switch works because I receive the 9volta after switching it on, so I'm confused as what it can be
i have boss dr3 and the problem sound very low... specialy at rca input and headphone... but it works not bad at R output... i used usual adaptro 9v for fx pedal... and itu turn on kinda slow to,.. shoul i but PSA adpater, can you help me with this problem... thanks before
I have a boss DR110. From 1982. And the power switch is broken but fortunately it is the on position. But the four AA batteries Must be installed to keep the memory for the patterns that you input. It’s a six pin switch. Which I cannot find. What are my options. ? If I remove any power source. I lose everything. . Why does it have a six pin on off switch.? Thanks
I know this is an old video, but ... My dr-5 has a dead pad. The "open E" note on the bottom far left corner doesn't trigger the sound. Every other function seems to work fine...inclusing the "A" note above it, and the "F" note to the right of it. I opened it up and didn't see any noticeable corrosion. Any ideas?
Hi, my DR880, the display is totally blank, pushing the buttons dont do snything but sound does go thru and the drum pads emit sound but nothing else, not able to see values or change anything...
This is an excellent video -- thank you. Would the entire unit stop working if the internal battery is dead? I thought not.... but I have heard other things. I got a DR-5 at a pawn shop, and it worked fine except for the right channel was not outputting. After I opened it to investigate why , it stopped working altogether. I didn't do anything other than open it up. When I check the internal battery with a meter, it is dead. From what I did, it does sound more like a connection got broke, but I cannot find anything on visual inspection. It is very clean inside, no corrosion or obvious signs. Any help appreciated !
@@bloubear2557 Seemingly the internal battery is soldered in place -- is there any danger in heating up the battery to de-solder it? I cannot believe the mount is soldered to the battery itself, but that seems to be the case...

Hi there, so cool you made this video. I have a question. in my case the actual binary encoder is bad. connections are good, no corrosion but inside the little metal hairs were damaged. Do you know what the part number would be for this encoder? (found answer see reply) Also side note, for some reason the + / - fret adjustment button jumps by groups of 3 at a time up or down. it's reliable. not glitchy.. but i had one for years in the past and each press was only suppose to go up one fret per push either way not 3.. it's a minor thing, but peculiar behavior. (found answer see 2nd reply)
Hey everyone, so I found the part. Boss will not be helpful.. they will say you need to take it in to get serviced.. the part is cheap and EXACT. www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=%E2%80%8EPEC16-4225F-N0024-ND

Pop off the rotary dial with a small blade screwdriver and then remove the nut beneath.
Slick, just short out the switch. Brilliant :)

How do you get the back cover off? I've removed four of one type of screw and five of the other, but it doesn't seem like the top cover will come off.
