MARIO 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️💯
"So long, gay bowser" is part of my vocabulary at this point. It's a great goodbye for friends.
OMG same 😅
@@DD-zh4byGood job outting yourself as socially inept in 1 sentence.
1:11 - you say it sucks for Luigi, but I’d argue it shows that their parents loved Luigi more as they gave him an actual name; when it came to Mario they were like “Ah fuck it, just make our last name also be his first name.” Could also explain how their personalities are so different - their parents mollycoddled Luigi while neglecting Mario, forcing him to learn to be self sufficient.
😜
Luigi is the younger twin, so it's likely he was babied by the family whilst the oldsr twin was maybe not neglected but maybe they didn't expect much of either of them
@@sev1120 neglected might be a bit hyperbolic choice of words on my part, I meant more that they cared for Luigi more and took more care of him.
To be fair as well, Luigi was the one kidnapped in Yoshi's Island.
@@robxholicfoxyfan8552 That can't have been good for him growing up
This is a godlike head canon actually
I believe what actually happened was that the original line that was recorded was infact "So Long King-a Bowser!" but they decided to trim it down to just "So Long Bowser!" for the game but they did such a shit job at trimming it down that it ended up still having a bit of the "ga" sound in there from "King-a", resulting in it sounding like "So Long Gay Bowser!".
This comes from the Nintendo giga leak that happened a while back. The uncompressed and more high quality version of the sound effect was leaked, which still sounded like he is saying gay but analyzing the sound effect revealed an obvious cut before he says that which suggests that the sound was trimmed down.
Almost sounds like an intentional edit by a disgruntled employee.
@@davidmcgill1000legend
This makes way more sense because it does not sound like King-a Bowser at all
Oddly enough and this is probably more a matter of just being particularly sheltered is I always heard it as "So Long, K. Bowser" with the "K." being short for King. Like King K.Rule from Donkey Kong Country.
@@krysbrynhildrI can definitely see how you heard that. For me I always heard gay Bowser but I also grew up when everything was called gay for some reason.
I thought it was a bit crunched King Bowser but if the high quality version still sounds that way, I suppose not lol
I always heard "So Long Eh Bowser?" Like 100 percent legit what I always heard XD
So Mario is italian canadian haha
I kinda took it as "so long-a Bowser" just as the sort of generic over the top Italian accent thing you get as standard with mario
Same, I was genuinely confused at people who heard "Gay" or "King "
It may not be canon but he still says it in our hearts.
Exactly
🖤
With the part starting at 5:42, i do want to mention the "U R MR GAY" and "YA I M R U" on Mario Galaxy 1&2's title screen respectively. Very relevant to the topic
i always thought the actual line was "so long-e bowser" like the accent extended the "long", i genuinely cant hear king at all, only gay, or long-e
Yeah, like "its-a me Mario" Always figured it was just part of the accent...
it doesnt sound AT ALL like "king" it is absolutely an "ay" sound, its so weird
@mediumvillain Always thought it was a translation or localization error. Bowser was usually called Bowser or King Koopa (often K. Koopa), not King Bowser. It seemed like they jumbled it up and called him K. Bowser.
No matter how many times I listen to that voice clip I cannot hear him say "king" at all
It was said like this
SO LONG kiNGAY BOWSER
but the ki part was said too soft, so it just sounds like SO LONG NGAY BOWSER.
because he isn't saying king
My brothers and I thought it sounded like he said that too. We knew from the start that obviously wasn't what he was saying but it didn't stop us from constantly repeating the fake line and laughing endlessly. 😂
I know someone mentioned Mortal Kombat's "Toasty!", but my favorite is still the death scream/moan from Final Fantasy Tactics on the Playstation 1.
Mario and Luigi have a lot of lifts at the end of things they say. That's their verbal tic, but don't let that get in the way of the cement drinkers who will try to claim Luigi's name is actually Aluigi and when Mario says "Letsa go!", he's actually using the very obscure Italian phrase "Let's ago", meaning to fondly remember the glory days of ages long past.
Mario RPG properly timed punches because it was so hard (as a kid) so the noise was satisfying AF.
All I’m gonna say is the sound of the broken drill in payday 2 is only anoying because it’s literally the only sound you’ll hear for like half the heist
This sound clip is burned into my head from watching SM64 runs
In terms of the video game timeline, Wind Waker is old at this point (oh no) and Beedle's sound effects such as “Thank you!” and “Oh!” are brilliant.
The Metal Gear Solid Alert is so iconic I hear it whenever I see an exclamation mark. !
The best dialogue is Dan Fortesque in Medievil - he has no jaw so he just does his best.
for retro games, my favourite sound effect is sonic saying "im outta here" in sonic cd before he kills himself, as for shooters, im gonna have to go with genji from overwatch screaming in japanese as a giant dragon envelops him while he's pulling out his awesome robot kitana
The video game Black, how realistic the gun sound effects and explosions. Also metal gear the sound of being seen
Battletoads for the NES had the best pause music. We used to just leave the game on pause and groove out to the beat more than we played the actual game.
2 sounds from old school games that stand out to me. The sound of bouncing on the large mushrooms in Sonic and Knuckles. And the sound of the doors opening and closing in Super Metroid. These were the first 2 things to pop in my head. All those boot sequences tho.. Pure nostalgia!
In Link to the Past, when you first get an item, and it's all Daa Daaaa Daaa Daaaaaa. We always sang "Youuu got some bombssss". Can't hear that tone without hearing those words now.
The metal gear solid codec is so iconic I had to change my phones text notification from it when i was working at Gamestop two other customers came in and had that as their text ringer so when my coworker texted me asking what i wanted from coffee place they both checked their phones and then looked at each other awkwardly.
Bagman when he lifts himself "ah oui" followed by "hoppa" when drops into a mine cart.
The voice line in Martian Gothic when you find the oily rag, he rasps, "Oily rag... I liike oily rag..." and I know that's not a sound effect, but it is a sound bite that made me laugh for faaar too long lol. Just the way it's read is perfect AF lol.
For at least a decade I heard it as "so long-e bowser" and only after the internet talking about it I heard gay bowser
The old platformer Lode Runner had a fun "OOF" sound when you ran into a wall. However, if you kept running into the wall, it would become a rhythmic "OO OO OO OO OO" much to my childish amusement.
Sega Rally - "Game over, yeah!"
I always thought that Mario said “So long ay Bowser” because he has a thick Italian accent, and the line was being read as such
24:52 - I see your Halo Low Health beep and raise you the Zelda Low Hearts beep. 😉
The most pleasing sound. Ps1 gem collecting from Spyro
"Toasty" from Mortal Kombat is probably my fave!
Mine is from an old Warhammer game, Its a scaven saying "Die, Die Trator", still makes me giggle
Favorite is probably a toss up of Scorpion's "Get Over Here!" And "Toasty!" From MK1, and least favorite was the sound of the Duckhunt Dog laughing at you if you missed 😅
It may just be because I grew up on Valve games, but the HL2 Grav Gun has the best sounds of any game gun ever. The "pwoomf" of a Portal opening from the Portal Gun is always engraved in my memory
I think that my favorite video game sound is the Halo 3 Grunt Birthday sound. Just the pop followed by the chorus of children shouting "yay!!"
The baby crying from the drug trip sequence of Max Payne was that for me. Still makes chills run up my spine.
...or on the other end of the spectrum, Baby Mario crying from Yoshi's Island...that's one baby I would punch if I could...
The voice sample in the NES version of Double Dribble is both technically impressive, and accidentally playing wrong.
When they talk about gun sound effects that they liked, I just can't help but think back to the Karasaw's sound in Armored Core 2. Loved it.
I always just assumed Mario threw in "A"s at the end of works, like "It's-A".
I;ve never heard hear either
I've literally always heard it as "So Longie Bowsie!"
They changed it in the newer japanese version, not the first release I believe, to be "bye bye!" So they did change it after the first release. Which means they were probably aware.
Voice line i won't forget is the majority of voice lines in Castlevania: SOTN. So much cheese.
For specifically gun sounds, I think for me it's definitely gotta be the Farsight from Perfect Dark. Cool sound plus getting a headshot through all the walls from across the map? Yes please.
I love the fact that I just immedietly knew this was about the "so long gay bowser!" moment.
Like bruh, there is no way they didn't know how that sounded before releasing it
I miss when there was a second punch sound in the intro, with a snarky little line in parentheses
best sound effects I can think of are from mechwarrior 2, that startup sequence was so awesome , "reactor online, sensors online, weapons online , all systems nominal"
The halo shield recharge noise will always live rent free in my mind as my favourite sound ever, gave me chills when I first heard it in the halo infinite trailer
it's hard to choose a favorite game sfx, but the heal sounds from final fantasy 6 and the metal gear "!" are up there. I would put the mario mushroom power up in there as well.
As far as my favorite sound effect from a video game, the most memorable one at least, that I specifically went out of my way to hear whenever it was an option, is the insane growl that Agatha in Twilight Princess makes when you lie to her about not having bugs to give her and then try to leave her house.
I mean I immediately went back in to give the bug afterwards, but I did this with every single bug I collected when I found out about it.
I love any crazed Bandit voiceline from the Borderlands Videogame Series because they're so silly.
Snackerz theme and bite noise from banjo Kazooie haunts my dreams
I’ve always known about the gay bowser thing and it’s one of those things where I never understood what they were trying to actually say and it’s just always been “So long Gay Bowser”
Also personally, my fav sound effects old school video games has to be metal gear solid’s alert sounds and game over sounds. Just hearing the music play and over dramatic voice lines of the cast screaming “Snake? Snake! SNAKEEEEEEE” is just wonderful and funny given some of the characters funny back stories like otacon who literally says “My name is short for Otaku Convention” unironically and then goes on to explain to snake what Otaku meant
My favorite is Yoda's death scream from Lego Star Wars. This centuries wise jedi master riding in a run away shopping cart is how I imagined it.
Some of my favorite video game sound effects are from Earthworm Jim.. "Groovy!" and when the old lady hits him and says "Fresh!" lol
For me it's Kirby (smash) saying "bye" and hearing "die"
final fantasy 13, that god aweful remix song thats on absolutely everything , title screen, exploration every bloody cutscene. its absolutley mind numbing and agonising
The funniest part to me is that after it got changed to “bye-bye!”, people collectively invented the narrative that Bowser previously presented as gay, and then came out as bisexual instead. So now Mario is saying “bye bi!”
My favorite sound effect has definitely got to be the little “Woop woop woop woop woop” that plays when the Koopa Troop dies in Mario kart Wii
My favorite sound effect is SGT Pepper saying "good luck" in the original Star Fox for the SNES
"Gotcha" from ape escape
Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time had some great music and sound clips. the gibdos and redeads will always be the most frightenig to me from that era. that scream!
Least favorite video game sound effect: low hearts noise, in classic Zelda games
Kefka's laugh from Final Fantasy 6 always stood out to me. It was actually kinda scary when I first played it as a kid, now it just gets me hyped.
Let's See: Fav sound is hard, but I'd have to pick the ball shake, click in Pokemon for a successful catch, the Extra Life fanfare for Sonic, or the old reliable, FALCON PAWNCH!
Least favorite, easily the low health beeping in old school Pokemon. Like Karl said with the halo, I can see my health is low, the bar is red and everything, don't need to kill my ears to tell me
Bubble bobble had great bubble noises haha
my favorite sound effect from a game is either soda popinskis laugh from punch out or the song that plays when your running with doc after you beat a leauge
The old Minecraft "Oof" was an instant classic, of course. But I think one that always brings up memories (aside from the LOZ item jingle, of course) is the normal battle encounter sound effect from Pokémon Red/Blue.
But one that I always liked, just for how weird it is, is the room transition sounds from RPGs like Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy, etc.
The noice I probably fear the most from a game is probably the power down noice from Satisfactory. Just thinking about it makes me groan
Jigglepuff sighing as it goes to sleep and blasts all three of your friends off the screen in Smash Bros.
Wow, your impression of mario falling off a cliff was literally perfect
The sound effects in IK+ on the Amiga… actually, heaps of stuff from the Amiga
Oblivion's "Halt, youve violated the law..." 😂😅
When you have a massive bill at the end of Starfox 64, and the big dog general just goes "....WHAAAAAT?!"
So long a bowser.
So longa bowser.
so long gay bowser.
Favourite sound effect is tough, but one that springs to mind is the Alt-Fire from the blaster rifle in Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy.
The standard fire is a pretty normal blaster sound as you'd expect, but the Alt-Fire where you rapid fire with it sounds like you are just UNLOADING on whoever is in your way XD
If Mario knows Bowser is gay he must be very confused on why peach can't just walk out of the rocky horror picture show that is the mushroom kingdom
She's just a rope-bunny, not interested in anything else.
The “oogadabooga” sound that plays when you break a Aku-Aku crate in Crash Bandicoot
"so longgg-a-bowserrr" is what I hear
Instant post before the video gets going.
"So long, gay Bowser!" is the truest canon of all time.
The sound effect in Quake 3 when you pick up health orbs ive heard in hundreds of games because the sound library they used is still for sale to this day, and still pretty good too.
Doom 1 doors can also be heard in any sci fi movie
Favorite may not be the best word but the best in my opinion is lavos' scream on the snes
I always enjoyed the sound that played in Tomb Raider when you found a secret.
Fav video game sound for me probably the sound that plays when you pick that one collectable up in the old lego games (you know the collectable that allows you to build a little Lego structure in the hub)
I think my favourite Video Game noise is Jak throwing a punch in the first game.
An entire generation refer to spinning someone around and throwing them as "So long gay bowsering" them.
Punching metal barrels in streets of rage, and the enemy death sound in golden axe.
On the Nintendo, the flying game "1949 " when you clear the screen with lightning.
1942 is a vertically scrolling shooter game made by Capcom that was released for arcades in 1984. Designed by Yoshiki Okamoto, it was the first game in the 194X series, and was followed by 1943: The Battle of Midway. via wikipedia
There's a voiceline I lowkey hate but that brings me great nostalgia, and that's civilians calling your character "chicken chaser" in the original Fable.
What did Mario say when he broke up with Princess Peach? "It's not you... It's-a me.. Mario"
i like it when mario caught me not paying my taxes
I can see how people hear "So long gay Bowser." But I always heard "So long ya donkey."
I always assumed it was just an Italian Stereotype Accent "So long-a Bowser!"
The most iconic videogame audio clip is Anakin Skywalker's death audio from the revenge of the sith ps2 videogame
"So long gay bowser" 😂 never noticed that before 😅
My favorite video game sound effect a character made as a kid would be aku aku voice when you get three mask in crash bandicoot. Second would the grunt from Duke Nukem when he kicks and then "Where is it?" Line.
It gets more funny when you hear the amended line as Bye Bi😂😂😂
I'm surprised they didn't mention U R MR GAY from the super mario galaxy logo
I thought mario was doing the "itsa me" thing with "so long" which made it sound like gay
the worst sound in a videogame is on color computer 3, dino wars, the attack sound
