Shaq once admitted directly to Kobe Bryant's face in an interview, " Because I had you, I could just chill out in the summer." Shaq needed a Top 3 SG of all-time (Kobe/Wade) to win rings. Shaq got swept twice with 1st team All-NBA guard Penny Hardaway in 95 and 96. SWEPT. No shame in losing to Hakeem or MJ, but he couldn't get one game. Shaq got swept two more times with 19 and 20 year-old Kobe in 98 to Utah and 99 to San Antonio. Then Kobe reached his early prime in 2000 and suddenly Shaq won 3 straight rings. Do the math. Conversely, Kobe went to 3 straight FInals and won 2 without a top 75 player. Dwyane Wade carried a past his prime Shaq to a ring. Fun fact: Shaq wasn't even the 2nd leading scorer for the Heat in the 06 Finals. That was Antoine Walker. Shaq wasn't even the best center on his own team in that series. Zo outplayed him if you actually watched that series.

But steals while hakeem is 9th shaq isnt even top 250. Blocks hakeem is 1st shaq is 9th. So the gap of those 2 defensive stats give hakeem a large edge.

Actually, Shaq's 08-09 which was 2 years before he retired, he was 3rd team all nba at 37. I don't know why he ever left Phoenix, he was rejuvenated there- played 75 games.

Well like almost all Nba players, but to me, him and KD are the two that are more interested in stats than all the rest. And that's a thing that have always made me holding something from those two, even if it was just a little, behind some guys like Shaq, Kobe, Duncan, Mj, Magic and Kareem (those who won more than the two guys above, more importantly)

"Better" is so subjective. Better depends on what that individual person values more. For me, I think Hakeem was better than Shaq because he was more skilled at the position. Others might value dominance. I think both arguments hold water.

Agreed. Hakeem was a "better" player than Shaq IMO. Shaq had weaknesses, The Dream had none. Plus, he outplayed every other great center (including Shaq) of his era. Which just so happened to be the golden era of Big Men in the NBA. So that and more is why I would absolutely rate him in my Top 5 before Shaq. But to each their own.
Hakeem had more skills to begin with. And shaq was only more dominant cause he played in an era rite after all the dominant centers were gone. Only center more dominant than shaq was wilt chamberlin and that was still based on there era
@@mattb1446 I think Hakeem had more skills in the beginning, middle and end. Shaq never devolped a jump shot like Hakeem. Shaq never had the footwork. And Shaq was never as good as the dream defensively.

I think they should categorize the top 5 or 10 by positions. Not randomly. For example: Centers, Power forwards, Small forwards, Point Guards, and Shooting Guards.
