Wagners greatness is so impressive, all operas are totally differend each with its own beauty! Although "Die Meistersinger" is not the one I come back to most, this song brings me to tears every time I hear it. It has such a pleasing accepting, everything is right feal to it.....a small love song about the uniting of art and paradise, all in the love of men and woman in marriage......so beautiful!
Everything about this makes me grin, not least the music itself. Such a supremely beautiful (and fitting) ending to Die Meistersinger, an opera I find myself coming back to more frequently as time passes. In isolation it is an astonishing work, and only more so when considered in the context of Wagner's oeuvre.
