I watched a 10 hour video on Death Note, and the explanation for this was pretty much on how Light let Soichiro down by everything that he done, and the fact that he destroyed his family and killed his dad, who he later calls a fool. Matsuda couldn't see any admiration or good for somebody who did that to somebody as righteous as Soichiro, so he loses his shit

@@dragonlover7196I would say L and Near are either unbelievably smart or they are emotionally obsessed with saying Light is Kira no matter what just to avoid admitting that their initial theory was wrong though. I mean the FBI agent confirmed that Light was doing nothing suspicious outside when he followed him and cameras installed in Light’s room confirmed that he did nothing suspicious while criminals kept dying. After Light was basically cleared as a suspect, L was still suspicious enough about him to meet him in person and investigate no other suspects. He kept focusing all his attention on Light.
It’s understandable that he got suspicious of him again once Misa was revealed to be another Kira and she made it very clear that she was with him but after the killings continued multiple weeks after he was in confinement, L should have at least tried to look for a third Kira but he didn’t. He focused all his attention on Light. He only cleared him after his coworkers pressured him to and still after that, he chained himself to Light. He wouldn’t have even started investigating the new Kira if Light didn’t start doing it for him.
Near started suspecting Light once Kira helped the police recover the notebook Mello stole which was suspicious because he was too quick to act on this without having a plan to backstab the Japanese investigators afterwards but it doesn’t prove it for sure. Then after hearing that L suspected Light, Near did the same and became almost certain that Light was the main Kira despite him having been cleared by L without even knowing for sure if the 13 days without writing a name rule was actually fake even though the CEO Kira suddenly died from a heart attack while L was right next to Light confirming that he wasn’t writing in the death note at that time.
So yeah, they are either unaturally smart or just obsessed. But then again, Light is also impossibly smart and talented at practically everything despite having not received the same intense training that L and Near did from a young age so I guess it’s fair.

I honestly think Light Yagami is just a sociopath with a God complex. At the beginning, we already discovered that he seemed to have an ideal that all bad people or those who committed crimes deserve to die, and that with the power of the Death Note, killing these people he would bring "justice" in his own way. But I believe that this is just a pretext for him to fill his own existential and emotional void with the pleasure he feels in having lives in his hands and the power to judge who lives and who dies, "the bad and the good". And as he is very social and probably has a very high IQ, he can be successful in all areas of his life, masking his true intentions, appearing outwardly kind and friendly just to get what he wants or achieve a goal. He has clear characteristics of someone with Antisocial Personality Disorder: He is a pathological liar, lying and pretending for him is as easy as breathing, his disrespect and violation of human rights, lack of remorse or regret, indifference, coldness, persuasion and manipulation, lack of loyalty, egocentrism and narcissism.
And I love Light's character precisely because of how complex he is.
I love death note because the protagonist is unquestionably the villain, and the tension comes in rooting for people to figure out how to off him.

Which creates this funny situation where the Japanese VA are trying to say "killer" and the English VA are trying to stay faithful and use "kira"--- it's a fail on both sides but it works out for the best 😅.

Controversial opinion: lights dad is the most problematic character in the series, like obviously you don't wanna believe your kid is a serial killer, but holy shit dude you're blatantly sabotaging the investigation by being part of it. There's a reason they don't let cops work cases related to them.
