Also one of the worst things is when Im scratching a little bit and they tell me to stop. @@alxve1498 yeah.. it went away once, I was very little and I had it but then it went away, only to come back years later (that was now 2 years ago). I still dry skin at that time but only that. It will get better I hope. Dont give up!
Eczema sufferer here! I love that you’re addressing this but I will note that amino acid + b5 serum can actually cause flare ups for eczema as it’s highly potent! It would need to be mixed in or diluted with something else for some eczema sufferers. I will note though that I have severe eczema to the point that my skin peels off and a flare up for me is usually treated like a burn on the skin so it may work for some people but it can be a hit or miss
PLEASE look into taking l-histidine as an oral supplement. my english is bad so cant explain this here. google it there is evidence for it to work. and it helped me a lot! startet topical steroid witdrawal after 7 years of use on my whole face, two months ago, and it was really bad all over my face! totally RED og burnt and iching with blisters :(. l-histidine has really really changed a lot for me. But it is a pretty high dose for us with eczema, 4000mg per day. It is something about we are missing the "stuf" between the amino acids in our skin. this should help for that. please look into it, I´m so happy that I did :)
OMG I needed this. With the extra hand washing and sanitizer from what's going on with the world my hands has flared a bad case of eczema. I've had eczema since I was a teenager which has left me with really really dry skin.

Oh my god SAME I had a large red patch on my wrist/hand from washing my hands so much - personally for me I try to avoid washing that one area + using the steroid cream my doctor prescribed + Vaseline to protect it
I was an Eczema sufferer for the majority of my lie until I went to a homeopathic doctor and found all of the food allergies that have been causing my flare ups! I found out I have leaky gut and eggs and dairy products were the main contributors to my flare ups. I cut those out and started drinking more water and my eczema is all but gone! I would definitely recommend doing a leaky gut test. My skin had never been so non-flaky and non-itchy!
thank-you so much for talking about this. i was born with dermatitis and every skincare video seems to be for oily skin or slightly dry skin. not many have addressed us people with it bad. i have been been prescribed every type of cream and even pills, but it seems to do not much. id love more videos on this!

I love to use rosehipseed oil for my skin,. It's so hydrating and makes my flares go down so fast. Personally I would be careful with sugar because they can "feed" bad bacteria. My skin in a flare up really only needs a barrier of moisture. So it can heal. If my skin is at a good state I use only oils + cleansing balms and ofcourse the rosehipseed oil. Even before shower I would put it on, so the water can't dry me out more. Protection is key.
Yeah, oils! My favourite go-for oil is jojoba oil - it sinks into the skin quite fast, doesn't stain your clothes (for me that may be the issue with rosehip oil) and honestly it's one of the few things that keep my eyelids from turning paper dry ;) If anyone knows some other ingredient that would do same as good but sink in a bit faster, I'd be happy to hear.

I’ve had a lot of success with the squalane cleanser and the natural moisturizing factors + HA. I have eczema-prone skin and a bit of cystic acne, and these products treat my dry patches without causing acne flare-ups. Great products!
Hi, I suffer from Eczema on my face and I really like La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Stick. It's quite pleasant, easy to use and has minimal ingredients in it compared to most.
I treat my husband's eczema on his legs with Cetaphil Ultra Gentle Bodywash, TO Niacinamide + Zinc & then moisturize afterwards with Cica-based moisturizer (we use Kundal Derma C.P.R Cica Balm Skin Repair from Korea) & last step, Skinlabs Therapy Oil to lock the moisture. The itch calms down. No flare ups.
My brother mum and me are like the holy trinity then because I’m the eczema sufferer my mums the asthma sufferer and my brothers the hay fever sufferer 😂😂😭😭
Tatcha has worked WONDERS for my eczema prone skin, and I am curious if the red algae extracts could be contributing to that. Thank you so much for sharing the studies!! I love reading studies on different ingredients and treatments for eczema.
Cutting out dairy and processed sugars help me. Also no gluten. It all stems from your digestive system. Every BODY is different so you need to see what foods trigger you and which dont. Celery juice first thing in the morning helps me and also drinking lemon/lime water. I love coffee but i believe its a trigger for me. HYDRATION IS IMPORTANT. Drinking as much water as you can will help tremendously. Exercise is great! Lymphatic massages too! Just know yall are not alone! Love to you all!
Thank you for the product suggestion. This is a topic many people don't understand enough and seem to always throw steroids at you. I personally have been struggling with Eczema for many, many years and my horrible flair ups mainly occur on my face, but periodically I get flair ups on different parts on my body as well. Coming from myself who also struggles with asthma and allergies. I would love for you to go into how asthma, and allergies can also inflame your eczema. Watching many other of your videos, I would love for you to research more and try the product Eczema Honey and get your feed back.
AMAZING thank you. I have atopic eczema all over my body and my face has been great for years and managed so I’m able to wear makeup, but always super super careful about what I put on my skin
I’ve had chronic redness around my nose for almost 3 years, and I was diagnosed with eczema by a dermatologist. Fortunately, it doesn’t itch and the flaking subsides when I regularly apply a heavy moisturizer on the area, but the redness is still there for some reason and it honestly makes me self-conscious. Also, foundation doesn’t merge well with it. The dermatologist prescribed a bunch of topical creams, but none of them worked :(. I’ll give this a go, and hopefully this might help.
I usually recommend La Roche-Posay Toleriane Purifying Foaming Cream Cleanser or Cerva for my viewers for Eczema but I definitely will checkout The Ordinary! Thank you!

Oddly I always find your timing on a topic really bizarrely appropriate for me :) I have a rash in my armpits - I knew it was contact dermatitis because I had shaved and used a shampoo for a razor cream which was a DISASTER. I ended up with a nasty hot red rash on both armpits :( I thought maybe it was a yeast and tried canesten but no that didn't work so I knew it was eczema. My husband has suffered with severe eczema off and on for years and the only ointment that REALLY worked was prescribed by a doctor - it's called Protopic. I immediately put some on and the rash has already started to significantly fade. Another day and it will be completely gone. Just in case you have other suffers whose doctors may never have heard of this ointment.
When it comes to makeup and any other skin care I refuse to use anything that is not cruelty free...but somehow I have never thought to check the cleanser and moisturizer I have been using since for 10 years! I havd eczema from head to toe about three years ago it was just so bad and flared up it was uncontrollable. I didn’t have money to go to a dermatologist so I saw that there was a clinical study for people who have chronic dermatitis. And I did it for nine months and got shots every 2 weeks I don’t know exactly what it was. It didn’t have a name but it basically worked as a steroid. But wasn’t a steroid shot. And I’m glad because steroids I took my whole life creams and pills and they never worked if anything I feel like it got worse. Doing that clinical trial literally changed my life I don’t have as much eczema flare ups anymore only from the neck up I have minor flare ups. But I know it has to do with allergies. And keepinh up with my skin care so. Thank you for these tips I’m definitely gonna go out and buy them.
Can i use, 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Borage Seed Oil and Amino Acids + B5 together? After some research I found out, these two are the best products in the ordinary for eczema.
i’m very prone to hormonal acne and i also have atopic dermatitis flare ups any time i use anything but vanicream gentle cleanser and cerave moisturizing lotion😩 any products that you would recommend any products to help my acne without flaring my skin up?
I’ve got the same problem and I hope that my skin care advices might help you. So birth control pills are very helpfull because they reduce the level of hormones in your endocrine system and icrease level of estrogens and drag down androgens (they are mainly ,,responsible” for hormonal acne). For skin care products I found Bliss jelly cleanser helpfull. Its very soft and gentle for atopic dermatitis and also doesn’t cause itching and rash. Cetaphil is also good solution. The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil is a miracle for this type of skin. Also remember to moisturizing your skin well and use a light sunscreen even If it’s not sunny outside. Vitamin C for example is said to be great for those with rosacea but then it's not good for those with eczema and so on and so forth, so I am struggling so greatly right now in trying to find what would work best for my dry eczema and rosacea prone skin!! Hello, Cassandra, Is it a good idea to mix up AA + B5 and the NMF or it is better to apply them separately? And do you think they are a good choice for sensitive skin prone to pimples?
Hi Cassandra! I’m an eczema sufferer and I wanted to ask if the moisturiser and B5 and amino acids can be used on other body parts other than the face?

What moisturizers do you recommend? I’ve been binge watching your videos and I’ve seen you mention there are better moisturizers out there. Please share!
I would recommend la roche posay for sensitiv skin. It’s no fragrance or parabens in it. It’s the only one I can use. I use rich, men you can also use the light formula if your skin is not that dry like mine is😊
I have neurodermatitis( around the eyes mostly) and my skin doesn't react to normal products that well and time to time I still get acne. I used one korean brand it is called dermatory their allantoin cream and balm are for extremely sensitive skin, it has the minimal igredients. It is like 10 dollars, maybe look at that one. Otherwise (even though I am not an ultra fan of la roche posey) la roche posey eczema line works ok but as I said it is not perfect.
Κατιαννα Ιατρου Absolutely!! Ecuerin and vani cream are commonly recommended by derms and is really really good, but not cruelty free. SkinFX has an amazing balm that is super soothing. Also, I haven’t personally tried oat so simple but oat can be fantastic for flares! I hope this helps :)
I couldn't find the EXPIRY DATE or MANUFACTURING DATE on my THE ORDINARY PRODUCTS!!!😱😱😱.... please help me!🙏 I have bought some products from the ordinary (following your instructions 🙂).... hope they will work for my skin concern.
The shelf life of the Ordinary products is indefinite. However, there is an icon of a jar with an open lid on the packaging with a number on it, like 6M or 12M. It means you should use the product in 6 months or 12 months AFTER you open it. Products that are sensitive to light or oxygen should be stored in a dark place or always closed tight. I would not recommend using a product after a year though.
Thank you so much! I am with atopic dermatitis and this video was very helpful. Could you recommend me the other moisturisers you were talking about rather than the NMF. I am from Europe - currently i am using La Roshe Posay Lipikar AP + M. Also could you recommend me another cleanser for skin with atopic dermatitis instead the squalene cleanser?
I'm also from Europe. May I ask if you want to try another cleanser or is it that you think it may not be accessible to you? It's just that if you think it's not accessible, it should be. I live in Ireland and have bought a lot of The Ordinary products from their website or from Boots online also. Got them delivered to my door. I'm sure other stores stock their products too. Just throwing that in if it may be of help.
Thank you so much. I am using the moisturizer and think it's great. Also am using the B oil, but I don't like oils so much, so maybe I will try the B5 instead. I bought the cleanser a while ago but have not used it regularly yet. I was at a dermatologist about my rather mild( in comparison) excema, but her recommendation was essentially to cut down all skincare products with any actives and just use very basic moisturizer, she recommend Avene products. I was not happy with that as it means that I could not year any other issues, plus I found the products produced for having as the main benefit the fact that they have no irritating ingredients. She specifically said to only use cortisol creams as the last resort and only for 5 days at most.
Tbf Avene's products for dry skin have perfume, which I find more than suboptimal for irritated skin. Also I get the feeling your doctor told you to avoid actives because she didn't feel like or didn't know enough to explain which you should and should not use.
@@Sund3v3 Yes probably. But that seems to be the case for most dermatologists here. I asked three so far and basically their recommendation if one has an outbreak of excema or redness from extremely dry skin is to not use any actives or products with anything except maybe hydration and oils. I think most dermatologists seem to believe that all those actives are not helping much but have more potential to do harm than to help. Especially if skincare companies mix a lot of substances into it that make the actives penetrate deeper or use stabilizers etc that may again cause more irritation. And of course perfume. Instead what they may use is cortisol derivatives as actives against the inflammation for a short time with the recommendation to just not buy any of those fancy and sometimes expensive skincare products that they consider a rip-off.
@@auroraglacialis I personally think every dermatologist should invest some time to actually read up on basic skincare instead of just prescription medications. There are already a lot of options one can use that have been supported with studies and whatnot. That being said, I do find most of the cosmetic brands to be a ripoff nonetheless, potentially harmful for both skin and wallet but that doesn't mean we should dump everything in the same basket. There are some good formulations out there.
@@Sund3v3 I guess most dermatologists dont have the time and energy to go through all the thousands of brands with hundreds of products to see which are ripoff, harmful or actually a few good. They just stick to some dermatologists brands like Avene or a few others they usually recommend that basically provide just very basic skincare with hydration and maybe Urea - unless they see some real issue like Akne or Rosacea, in which case they probably are going to prescribe stronger acting skincare stuff - but if you go there with just enlarged pores, some dry skin and hyperpigmentation, they dont see it as clinically needed to act. If they are neural. Some dermatologists of course have contrcts with some brands and will try to sell you products or they want to make money on medical peelings or laser treatments they want to sell you then.
@@auroraglacialis to be fair, medical peelings and laser do have an effect. I wouldn't put the blame squarely on the dermatologists, either, even though I might disagree with some of their recommendations. A large part of the problem is patient expectations - a lot of skincare conditions require diligent, everyday, patient care to improve, some even for life since they are based on genetic defects. That isn't something people like to hear in my experience. Hell, I preach it to my clients and I don't like hearing it told to me. And I know all too well the feeling of helplessness when you realize there isn't a straight answer and a miracle cure and even the doctors sometimes cannot help. But on the other hand, I'm all for people learning independently about their bodies and taking responsibility of their health. There's no better way to achieve good discipline and compliance (in the medical sense) than when the patient is equally involved in the treatment. Keep educating yourself, learn to understand the ingredients and in some time you will be able to help yourself better than your dermatologist.
Also to add when I had my worst flear up on my face 2 years ago I cleansed my skin with Uriage Xemose Syndet cleaner mild and it made such a difference x
I had small patches of eczema and also remedied it testing this eczema guide t.co/BTIL6ygIYD . The final results were incredible therefore i made a decision to further make use of the treatment solution on my facial area. I haven’t been comfortable with just how my skin area appears to be. It feels so good and healthier. .
Such a great question dear! From a clinical perspective, the answer would be yes. You see eczema is often dry and flaky and renews itself too much, the key here is don’t cleanse to the point of stripping, cleanse to the point of balancing. The goal is to really calm down the skin, and help it regulate properly, because naturally it is flaring up and D regulated. It’s not smart to use a really harsh cleanser, with active ingredients that can exfoliate the skin. But using a mild gentle cleanser can really help to calm things down, especially if you use cold or moderately cool water. The goal is definitely not to dry out the skin - try to keep it hydrated and happy. That’s why I like oil cleansers or gentle cleanser’s, avoid anything with those serving ingredients! You have to search for them, but there are cleansers that are formulated to hydrate.I hope this helps!
What about scalp Eczema. I've been struggling with it for a while but obviously I can't use any of the skin products, because it's impossible to spread it as easily with the hair being there
Hey Cassandra, I have acne problem and My skin is oily And also I have pimples and small small pores in cheeks Could you please recommend moisturizer, Toner and cleaner and please do recommend scars lightening creams available in India.. I am an Indian and located at Gods own country Kerala
I started to use the AHA +BH acid exfoliate from the ordinary, and I had an eczema flare up a couple of days after. Is this just part of the purge, since it’s a new product, or should I discontinue use?
I personally researched this because I also have eczema and wanted to use the peel. This is something you should discontinue because acids on eczema (except HA) causes flares ups and irritation. I recommend just typing acids on eczema to research it. I also recommend if you want to exfoliate use a clay mask instead such as the Aztec clay or kiehl's clay mask. It not only hydrates the skin but it takes away all the dirt and you can do it once or twice a month. It's more cooling for the eczema.
The only thing that I like about having eczema is that I literally never get pimples because my skin is so dry lmao
Very lucky😂 I have both acne prone skin and eczema
lol I get both 😂😂
Acne prone and eczema sucks. I found that cerave hydrating facial cleaner works best along with my topical cream from the doctor. I honestly don’t know how to get rid of my acne/blackheads without making my eczema worse.

And try different types of lotions and if they work but then later stop working, switch it out. I just switched to a new face cream and its working really well for now my face isnt red at all!
Bless you, I hope you get your eczema sorted :(
PLEASE look into taking l-histidine as an oral supplement. my english is bad so cant explain this here. google it there is evidence for it to work. and it helped me a lot! startet topical steroid witdrawal after 7 years of use on my whole face, two months ago, and it was really bad all over my face! totally RED og burnt and iching with blisters :(. l-histidine has really really changed a lot for me. But it is a pretty high dose for us with eczema, 4000mg per day. It is something about we are missing the "stuf" between the amino acids in our skin. this should help for that. please look into it, I´m so happy that I did :)
Did anyone else come here just so they could see the comments from and talk to other eczema sufferers?
just me?

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid + B5 has pretty much gotten rid of my eczema after years of use as well!
Majority of my life** lol oops!
Where do you do a leaky gut test

Me too! Can you recommend anything to use as a make-up primer?
Please please please suggest a sunscreen for eczema prone skin. And do tell the exfoliation routine for us.
Hi, I suffer from Eczema on my face and I really like La Roche Posay Anthelios XL Stick. It's quite pleasant, easy to use and has minimal ingredients in it compared to most.
KursedMoo please do a video on this!
Below list are prescribed by my dermatologist:
Avène
Vmv hypoallergenic
Neutrogena sunscreen
Late reply but I love elta MD!
I have eczema on my face and I use La Roche Posay Anthelios Shaka Fluid. Its so smooth to apply and doesn't make my face itch at all
I treat my husband's eczema on his legs with Cetaphil Ultra Gentle Bodywash, TO Niacinamide + Zinc & then moisturize afterwards with Cica-based moisturizer (we use Kundal Derma C.P.R Cica Balm Skin Repair from Korea) & last step, Skinlabs Therapy Oil to lock the moisture. The itch calms down. No flare ups.

After viewing this video I tryed amino acids +B5 and it saved my skin!!!! I loooove it!!! Thank you sooo much!

You are amazing Cassandra, no one else talks about skin care for eczema sufferers. I needed this! Would a B5 supplement help too?
When you said "don't want to use cerave because they aren't cruelty free I was shook. I'm kind of scared now because I don't know what to use ( I may try the ordinary squaline cleanser though), but I know I have to find something different!

I heard that HA is actually bad for eczema-prone skin but how come you recommend it?
After some research I found out, these two are the best products in the ordinary for eczema.

i’m very prone to hormonal acne and i also have atopic dermatitis flare ups any time i use anything but vanicream gentle cleanser and cerave moisturizing lotion😩 any products that you would recommend any products to help my acne without flaring my skin up?
birth control to balance the hormones maybe then you can concentrate on the dermatitis, this could work
I’ve got the same problem and I hope that my skin care advices might help you. Xoxo
What are the other better moisturizers you mention??

I used one korean brand it is called dermatory their allantoin cream and balm are for extremely sensitive skin, it has the minimal igredients. It is like 10 dollars, maybe look at that one.
@@bluecurlygirl TO are accessible to every country in Europe including mine , I personally just don't like the squalane cleanser
zinat3333 I have used the decubal cleansers during flare-ups, would highly recommend them:)
Hi Cassandra, I have been recently diagnosed with scalp eczema. I am wanting to know what you would recommend. Thanks ;)

Cassandra, does Eczema prone skin really need regular cleansing??? Clearing drys the skin out so how does cleansing help?
I've been struggling with it for a while but obviously I can't use any of the skin products, because it's impossible to spread it as easily with the hair being there

same here I don't know what product is the best 😭
Please do a skincare video on DMK and Lira Clinical Skincare it changed my life
Is this only for the face?
Can i use the ordinary glycolic toner then niacinamide? Please reply im so confused
so it must have been the algae in the marine hyaluronics that made me break out i guess my skin doesn't do well with algae.
