+Lilian Miramontes, Jr. ...That's what I originally bought the fabric for, but then I got too scared to try it.... hahaha. The underside of the fabric is rough, too, so I would have to line them. Considering I'm still not very good at making shorts, I felt like it would just be another disaster waiting to happen. But. Maybe I should try anyway...
+Annika Victoria girl you're the one that motivates me to go for sewing again! When I first found you I BINGED so hard on your vids. You think outside the box really well and it's a pleasure watching your take on projects! (and occasionally seeing your failures;) ) But you're really cool! keep it up!
A tip for your new rotary cutter: get a long acrylic ruler. You can use it as a guide/straight-edge for your cutter, so you can get perfectly straight cuts if you line the edge of the ruler with the lines on your cutting board.
+Gabrielle Gerdes I originally bought the fabric to do that, haha, but then got scared again! >.> also, the underside is really rough so I'd have to line the shorts as well. Considering I still haven't really worked out how to do shorts properly, it's a disaster waiting to happen..
+Annika Victoria sorry if this is a bit late, but I appreciate it that you replied!! >o< and you're right about the shorts needing a lining, it would be really uncomfortable without it. Thanks : )
If the fluff is cut correctly* at the store, there will be less shedding (Noticeably less!!!). Just be prepared when buying fluffy fabrics to correct the store associate. Some take it well, others don't, but just be nice and show them a new skill that will make them a better employee. And you don't get covered in fake fur. ** Correctly meaning the fur is lifted/separated like a part in your hair, and then slowly snipped away at the base (skin, if you will) of the fabric. This means the fur won't have those straight edges cut in it, so if you roll the ends together in a tube, you won't be able to see the seam. This is how people cut real fur (as not to waste the fur) for clothing etc. Just because its fake, doesn't mean it gets treated any differently.
there're SO many of your tutorials like this that I think i'd hate or never try out, like the pompom earring and the clear plastic skirt, but end up falling in love with after i watch the video for it!
Ilove your videos. Iv literally watched all of them. Lol. They've helped me a lot improve in my sewing. And encouraged me more in looking at thrifted items differently when i go thrift shopping. Thank you so much. Your a huge inspiration.
I made my daughter 2 pairs of your Pom Pom earrings after she watched your video. She loves them!! She's gonna love this one too. She's 11 and beginning to sew. She's a huge fan of your videos.
i just wanted to say thank you so so so much for providing this series? i know you've pointed out that this is sort of the reson you wanted to do this in the first place but not only is it a really cool way to share how to make specific items of clothing, it's also a really great way to teach other skills that you can use for any project!!! and you're providing that to us for free when some people keep this kind of stuff TOP secret. i plan on making your holo-sleeve shirt and a pinafore and just some other cool stuff you've shown us just because you made them and they're great!!!!! thanks again diy mom c:
Fur tip: When cutting fur you have to cut the backing only!! That's why the fabric you bought had a little edge on the right because the fur was cut not straight through all the layers but through just the backing. Hope this makes sense and keep in mind the fur you bought does not fray nearly as much as some of the longer furs sold at spotlight so you did pretty well! (I work at spotlight btw) :) :)
I have made like 8 of these, they are so easy and fun!! i make them for my friends and coworkers, it's so fun to personalize them, make them different heights and lengths. I made one that was really tall for paintbrushes or tools for my friend, i made a small round one for a money pouch!
i just found your channel and i've watched so many videos already!! i love your DIYs and your personality and i caught myself just sitting and smiling while watching, instant subscribe from me!!! (usually never comment but i felt like i wanted to in this situation!)
okay i literally watched all of the mtb episodes couple minutes ago and then this showed up in my notifications and i was like wow wow wow hold on... is this real life? because that's like frickin awesome :DD
Just used this to make a makeup bag for my boyfriend for Christmas. He’s been needing one and I wanted to make on instead of buying it and this video was a LIFESAVER
A tip with working with fur fabric, using a rotary tool (like shown) or exacto-knife to cut ONLY the backing results in a LOT LESS fluff going everywhere :)
Love it Annika! I've been lusting after one of those wheely-cutty fabric things for ages! Maybe I will have to invest... It makes cutting fabric look so easy! x
:O I never thought to sew the zipper side of a bag first. I always did that part last and dreaded it! That looks sooo much easier! Thank you! Also - just a tip for working with fur like that. If you use an Xacto knife or similar blade on the backside, then you won't be cutting the fur fibers themselves, and it eliminates the mess. :)
Hey Annika :) I am a long term subscriber of your youtube channel, and I absolutely adore your videos. I have been sewing for a while, and I want to make my own winter formal dress. I am having problems, however, because I can't quite get an idea in my head of how to go about making this dress. I would love any advice I could get from you. (Also, I love your new style pile videos)
I've had my rotary cutter for around a year now.. it definitely does make cutting things so much easier.. and for me it's neater and much faster too.. :)
Thanks for the helpful tutorial! I've been dying to use this fabric, but didn't know exactly what to make. You've inspired me to make a pouch for my 3DS! :D Keep up the amazing videos you never cease to amaze me 🦄
I beleve you for that fury fabric going everywhere, I made The monster book of monsteras few days and I spent like 1 hour taking them of my working station...
Just so you know, if you're cutting furry fabric you can avoid a lot of the extra hair fall out by cutting from the back side and very carefully only cutting the rough fabric portion. I would love to see a retry of the infamous fuzzy blue shorts-- I think with a better material and with your new knowledge about fluffy and stretch fabrics you would be triumphant!
+Morgan Weber I'm trying to find the right material everywhere!! I can't find anything that I'm happy with hahaha. And thank you so much for the tip :D
I made something like this when I was little... I didn't know it was an actual thing! I had green furry fabric with googly eyes... and used velcro because I didn't have a zipper. Mine was a wallet though, not as large as hers.
This came to my mind as you were showing the googly eye buttons! you could use them for the eye-button-shirt in your previous episode of make thrift buy!
A tip for cutting faux fur is if you just cut the back where the fur is attached instead of cutting the fur as well you will get less fluffs that escape and haunt you forever.
Absolutely love this!.. Although, I'm not a fan of dark colour so I might just use this tutorial to make my own design for a pencil case. Thanks Annika :3 Love your vids
I don't have a specific request rather than a generalized one- could you try to recreate some more things from wholesale sites such as sheinside, ronwe, and beautifulhalo? They're pretty sketchy looking and from what I understand you hardly get anything if you order unless you're a blogger and their sizes are so small to boot but they have some interesting designs and I'd love to see your take on them!
This reminds me of a Yeti pillow i made a while back, it was white fur and the face was blue felt. and the eyes were also created from felt, along with the mouth
For those of us without pizza-cutters-for-fabric: If you have the patience, you can use scissors and TEENY TINY snips while cutting furry fabric to decrease shedding/ fallout and potentially balding the seams... :)
+Annika Victoria just use a strait edge when using your roller. Pin your edges when cutting patterns, and pin vertically when sewing XD sorry didn't mean to be mean or anything
You DIY are so adorable !! It' so messy cutting fur fabric, you have to me really careful to not cut the hair out of it otherwise, you get really weird edge. Cut in mid-air with a fur knife ( or a really sharp cutter ) and the no furry side, there will be almost no mess! Specially if you work with very long fur. Happy crafting !
+CanadianFrenchFox Ahh - thank you! I'm about to embark on a project with very long fur, and I was a bit scared about it haha - so that's really helpful.
Top tip: with fur (especially long like fur!!) cut it from the back side using a razor or a box cutter - that way you're not chopping loose the fluffies
Have you ever tried making a corset?? I would love to see you do that! And by the way I absolutely love your channel and will be trying some of these things when I have access to my sewing machine again!!! :)
To reduce the amount of fur getting everywhere you can put tape over every place you cut on the wrong side. That way you can cut down the middle of the tape and the fake fur won't fray on the edges
+Jess Delivegne Haha I'm going to admit that I originally bought it with that intention... and then decided (again) that it would be too hard!!! Hahaha. The underside of the fur fabric is really rough so I would have to line it, and I'm already so bad at making shorts so I knew before I started that it would be a disaster :P
Can you try making one of those better sleep arm pillows? Like the pillows with arm holes in them? They look really comfortable, but they cost like $100!!! So expensive...
for your next make thrift buy could you please try to make a "chester" plushy that can actually hold things from the game "don't starve"?! i wanted to buy one for my sister for her b-day but it was like 50 bucks!!! so instead i would like to make it.i just need you to show me how. please! (also i'm subscribed to you).
so i made something very similar to this for a new pencil case for school... i wasnt careful around the zip, snapped the needle into three pieces and had the middle piece launch at my face! :P
Fluff is to Annika as green glitter is to Mykie.
I was thinking the same thing!
Zombaes reunite 😂
omg yes
OMG YESSS XD
+Eileen Yost yasss xD
maybe if you use this type of fabric you can retry those fluffy shorts :)
Yass
+Lilian Miramontes, Jr. ...That's what I originally bought the fabric for, but then I got too scared to try it.... hahaha.
The underside of the fabric is rough, too, so I would have to line them. Considering I'm still not very good at making shorts, I felt like it would just be another disaster waiting to happen. But. Maybe I should try anyway...
+Annika Victoria OMG YOU REPLIED TO ME 😲😲😲😲 BUT yes TOTALLY go for it!! You can persevere and come out completely victorious!!
hahaha, thank you for the motivation!! 💪
+Annika Victoria girl you're the one that motivates me to go for sewing again! When I first found you I BINGED so hard on your vids. You think outside the box really well and it's a pleasure watching your take on projects! (and occasionally seeing your failures;) ) But you're really cool! keep it up!
This reminds me of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared for some reason
Ay same
+Tasha Robinson i can see i now
the notepad
A tip for your new rotary cutter: get a long acrylic ruler. You can use it as a guide/straight-edge for your cutter, so you can get perfectly straight cuts if you line the edge of the ruler with the lines on your cutting board.
Yes! I still need to get myself one :)
I'm assuming that this method could also be used to make a laptop/tablet case? It looks so fluffy, too!
+tiacahia Yes! absolutely. Any sized case, and you don't have to use fluffy fabric either, obviously :) You can use any fabric you want!
+Annika Victoria you should redo the fuzzy shorts with this fabric, I think it would work better!
+Gabrielle Gerdes yes!
+Gabrielle Gerdes I originally bought the fabric to do that, haha, but then got scared again! >.> also, the underside is really rough so I'd have to line the shorts as well. Considering I still haven't really worked out how to do shorts properly, it's a disaster waiting to happen..

This is absolutely adorable! Definitely want to add one of these to my collection of bags, a chain added would make this a super cute handbag!
+MikylaLouise Such a good idea :)
Love it Annika! I've been lusting after one of those wheely-cutty fabric things for ages! Maybe I will have to invest... It makes cutting fabric look so easy! x
It is the. Best.
Love the earring! And the bag! And you channel! And OMG I LOVE EVERYTHING I AM OBSESSED !!!!

Truthfully I watch bigger channels ( not that I'm saying yours is small) and they don't replie like you do I think that's so cool!
Wow you're so talented! Can't wait to watch your next diy- they are (almost) always amazing and look better than store bought!

I live for your channel! One of my favourite subscribers!! Thanks for making such awesome and inspiring videos❤️

I got a rotary cutter for Christmas too!❤️

This came to my mind as you were showing the googly eye buttons! you could use them for the eye-button-shirt in your previous episode of make thrift buy!
I first saw your pleated skirt tutorial and I've been hooked ever since! I love youuu 💘💘💘

literally never clicked on a notif so quick!! love your videos
+xlivelaughlovex0x0 :D
I used this method to make a DIY pencilcase and it came out sooooo cute!!!
I got a rotary cutter last xmas, but didn't get a cutting mat til this year. lol
been too busy crocheting to test it out yet.
Used this tutorial to make a Star Wars pencil case for school ☺️ thanks annika!!!
Absolutely love this!.. Although, I'm not a fan of dark colour so I might just use this tutorial to make my own design for a pencil case. Thanks Annika :3 Love your vids
+Nidashki Chan you could always get furry fabric in a light colour too! :) I've seen some really pretty pastel fake furs. And rainbow ones!
Travel makeup bag anyone? This is adorable!!!
I love her earings!
She made them in episode 31 :)
Can you make a mermaid tail?
I don't have a specific request rather than a generalized one- could you try to recreate some more things from wholesale sites such as sheinside, ronwe, and beautifulhalo? They're pretty sketchy looking and from what I understand you hardly get anything if you order unless you're a blogger and their sizes are so small to boot but they have some interesting designs and I'd love to see your take on them!
Yes! :) I will definitely try because those sites are definitely sketchy (I know from experience!)
...by the end of this video, i had purchased a rotary cutter off of amazon. oops.
+Lily O hahaha. you won't regret it!!
omg gonna make this a little smaller to keep makeup in and some for my nieces and nephews to keep crayons and stuff in. :) awe I love it
You should do a retry episode of those fluffy shorts with this fabric!
I love how quirky and retro style she is! She's very inspiring and I love it! And that clutch is really cute haha
This would be such a cute laptop sleeve.
i just made a clutch like this but by hand!!! really time-consuming but i loved the process!!!! thank you so muuuch!!!
Honestly love this series
A tip to working with fluffy material is, don't laugh, hoover them :) I do this after cutting the pieces.
Thanks! I had no idea reusing a big zipper would be so easy!
Hey Anika, your earrings sure do match the clutch purse!
Fur is just like glitter it Will get evertwhere
just a random alternative girl always does💪
This would make a cute laptop bag! Love this!
I love spotlight! It's the best craft store!
This reminds me of a Yeti pillow i made a while back, it was white fur and the face was blue felt. and the eyes were also created from felt, along with the mouth
I used to have a rotary cutter and it was amazing !!
a few months ago I made a phone case that looks so similar to this. great DIY
Nice earrings Annika!

could you try to make this as a travel napping kit? i.e. travel pillow with an inside throw blanket and eye mask?
I love how the bag came out! it's even cuter than the asos bag and I love the color 😍 I just subscribed, can't wait to watch more of your videos (:
Can you please recreate dan howell's horned hoodie?
You DIY are so adorable !! It' so messy cutting fur fabric, you have to me really careful to not cut the hair out of it otherwise, you get really weird edge. +CanadianFrenchFox Ahh - thank you! I'm about to embark on a project with very long fur, and I was a bit scared about it haha - so that's really helpful.
You can try yourself! Just use the technique that work the best for you. I am the same, I love furry pillows and stuffs! ^___^
I really love this serious, every time I watch I think..."get your sewing stuff out and use ALL that fabric you have!" lol
Top tip: with fur (especially long like fur!!) cut it from the back side using a razor or a box cutter - that way you're not chopping loose the fluffies
If you cut it in certain shapes, it could look like a ghost from Pac-Man!
Or a googly eyed version of the cupcake from FNAF!😄
Great video as well!😊
annika i think a cool video would be a bunch of things to sew with just one yard of fabric! :)
OMG you did it!!!! My computer crashed as I wanted to send the comment and apparently the comment wasn't deleted, but my name was :D Awesome!
Oh yay!!! Hello! :) hehe. Thanks for leaving this suggestion! ❤️
Have you ever tried making a corset?? I would love to see you do that! And by the way I absolutely love your channel and will be trying some of these things when I have access to my sewing machine again!!! :)
love the idea, but is there any way you could show us how to make straps for the bag?
she luved so much the fluffy earrings and well, it wasn't just her.
To reduce the amount of fur getting everywhere you can put tape over every place you cut on the wrong side. That way you can cut down the middle of the tape and the fake fur won't fray on the edges
+Catriona :) awesome! :)
you should try re-making the shorts with that fabric! and your videos make me happy :)
+Jess Delivegne Haha I'm going to admit that I originally bought it with that intention... and then decided (again) that it would be too hard!!! Hahaha. The underside of the fur fabric is really rough so I would have to line it, and I'm already so bad at making shorts so I knew before I started that it would be a disaster :P
okay. i still love it. all of your work actually!!! 😍😍😍😍😍💋

👊🏻😍yes beautiful
Can you try making one of those better sleep arm pillows? Like the pillows with arm holes in them? They look really comfortable, but they cost like $100!!! So expensive...
This would make a super cute coin purse or pencil case.
That bag ups look really nice with a shoulder strap 🤔
^would
Annika!!! This is one of my favorite channels!!!!!
+Lucy Mae Lennon Aw, thank you! :)
for your next make thrift buy could you please try to make a "chester" plushy that can actually hold things from the game "don't starve"?! i wanted to buy one for my sister for her b-day but it was like 50 bucks!!! so instead i would like to make it.i just need you to show me how. please! (also i'm subscribed to you).

Hi Annika! Was wondering if you could show a tutorial on how to make little badges/button badges? Thanks!
I just sewed a pouch last night! I REALLY could've used this I kept messing up but w/e it's cute
This would make a adorable pencil case! Might try it....
An*
An*
I love this. It is beautiful.
thanks for the French captions ♡♡♡
so i made something very similar to this for a new pencil case for school... i wasnt careful around the zip, snapped the needle into three pieces and had the middle piece launch at my face! :P
Oh my gosh! 😰 people don't think it is, but sewing can be dangerous!
Annika Victoria it really is! i also had a needle go through the top of my finger once! :P
+notyourprey I'VE HAD THAT HAPPEN TO ME TOO :O It wasn't fun hahaha. I cracked right through my nail and everything!
omg! thats alot worse than mine! i was more concerned about the white tanktop i was sewing at the time than my bleeding finger :P
I feel like this would make a really good laptop case.
you deserve 1.000.000 subs, because you are AWESOME!!!!
Do you think I could maybe add a strap? Or chain? To make it more of a cross-body bag? ✨
I have an idea you can put stuffing in the inside of the purse and zip it and it can be a pillow
