During the fire station activity, Huckle flying the paper airplane and sounding the party horn and trumpet from his window is based off the 1968 Richard Scarry book "What Do People Do All Day?" when Smokey and the other firefighters save Huckle's family and their house.
(7:43) Oh yes, in the PC versions of the game, Huckle will always hurt his thumb at one point when putting shingles on the roof. It occurs in both the 1993 and 1999 versions (and Huckle's "OW!" sounds more pained here), but it rarely happens on the Sega version. It's funny how happy Lowly is in this version when that happens. Does he enjoy seeing Huckle getting hurt?!

That's interesting! I have the same book.

I just finally found the name of this game after literally only remembering, "a cat hitting his thumb while hammering shingles to a roof"
YESS! this game has been nothing more than a fever dream to me ever since literally this morning
