I would honestly use alcohol and q-tips, spend the time digging in. it seems that the electronics are super sensitive and messing with the buttons may make it inoperable :(

Where on earth is the battery compartment!!! The instructions I had doesn’t have an accurate description bought brand newb the
Lol Le battery compartment is up in the detachable drum box. Does that help?
