just did a mobile repair last night on a 2008, other years may be different but it was not going to come out thru the bottom area for me. transmission lines did not have enough give and i wasnt going to remove them or any suspension components in a parking lot to remove it. almost gave up. decided to go thru the passenger wheel wheel. that also was a headache and almost gave up. ended up using the starter as leverage as i had it fully removed and inserted a crow bar to bend the exhaust manifold cover as i needed about a inch of additional clearance space at the approval of a stuck and desperate out of town customers request. i hope it doesnt create any exhaust issues. if i have to do it again, ill have a powersaw to cut slits in the cover - bend, remove, and bend the cover back after installation. install went smoothly after that but may not be as easy of a job as this video depicts for some people. just my experience tho. straight forward task but car repair completions seemingly never are. 😂😂😂

Excellent video! My 2007 Escalade ESV with about 90,000 mile also is having the same issue. Now I know what to try to fix the issue. Thank you.

Thank you for the video! I have the same symptoms, greatly appreciate about the bolt that holds powering line bracket. I’m stuck on removal of starter, will definitely use your method to shimmy starter out of tight area.

Great tip on moving the coolant lines, I couldn't figure out how to get mine out after I got everything disconnected. It was in the dark in a Fred Meyer parking lot. But I will head back this morning to loosen the coolant lines. The other video showed it coming out through the wheel well, so I thought it would be super easy, but it wouldn't come out that way

Daniel Tanev after I did this fix I realized it was something that could be done in a parking lot or side of the road. I lucked out and had the fix in my driveway. Let me know how you make out, I’m glad my tips helped you. Best of luck and thanks for your comment.

@@dustinelgan6070 thanks got it fixed. My lines were actually connected to some kind of snap on connection so all I had to do was pop it loose, and it moved slightly.

Great video. I have an Ext and I keep getting a lot of clicking and grinding. I was gonna inspect my starter but when I saw the under carriage I was like nope too difficult. I vid tells me otherwise great video.

great video I'm wondering if my starter is going out to I just bought a refurbished alternator and a refurbished battery and every once in awhile when I go to start the car it will just click like a clock it will almost turned on but it never does unless I jump the car 2007 Yukon Denali XL AutoZone said I could have a bad battery and they don't recommend to buy refurbished batteries so before I buy a starter I want to pick up a battery to see if that maybe the problem either way it can only be three options Option 1 alternator is bad option 2 battery is bad then option 3 the starter is bad I bought the alternator about a week ago so that can't be bad I bought the refurbished battery about a month-and-a-half ago but like they said you never know if that has a bad cell in my last option is take apart the starter then test it at AutoZone it's always something with these trucks but great video when I was done replacing my alternator the car was dead when I went to go start it up so that's weird so what would you recommend buy a new battery and see if that was the problem AR try to buy a starter and see if that's the problem?

Cam Mims how many miles on that starter? Mine had less than 90k miles when it went, and there was no sign of it wanting to quit. Battery would be my guess, when in doubt with batteries just replace them. Best of luck!

Cam Mims you have to do the exhaust manifolds yet? Mine rusted out and had them replaced, clicking noise from exhaust leak. Part of that caused the starter issues

I am not a mechanic, but this video is AWESOME!! I was able to change my starter just as you instructed. I have never worked on any vehicles at all, this was my first attempt and it solved my problem. You are awesome and thank you so much!!

Lamont, thanks so much for the positive feedback. Being able to help and contribute to this community of youtubers has been great. In all seriousness your comment to me is one of the greatest compliments I've received on RUclips. To know that I helped put tools in the hands of someone to help them realize their potential really makes me feel good and makes being a video contributor all worth it. Thanks again for commenting and enjoy your first mechanical victory working on your escalade.
