I love this song it's so pretty... One thing I learned is don't let the notes fool you. This is a hard piece even though there is whole notes and half notes through out it it's still very hard... It's all about listening and blending!
Opened this expecting to find "Dusk" by Cecil Armstrong Gibbs... but what a delight-surprise to find this piece! Compared to Gibbs's "Dusk", which is peaceful, this is a much starker, more powerful kind of dusk, with an element of uncertainty. The coming night, not the passing day, dominates.
Lovely work sir such a beautiful piece. Is there any meaning behind the French horn solo and Clarinet? My band played this for a competition Last year all the band kids were sure Dusk was the reason we placed Gold. Thank you so much for composing this piece. I hope to follow in you foot step I have big shoes to fill.
Whoa, this is so cool, were playing your piece in school right now and it sometimes will put our conductor to tears. Your amazing, I play f horn 1, thank you for the wonderful sounds you allow me to play.
the man himself, a little late, but this song was played so much by my highschool way back in the day, never fails to bring a tear to my eye. thank you for creating such a beautiful masterpiece.
I played this in school, 2:28-2:48 was probably my favorite part of this piece As well as 3:10 This piece is really moving hearing it live. It's gorgeous, the horn parts specifically.
Heard this song played at a wind fest by Lafayette high school band and me along with most of my other members loved, like the blending and true power, being a trombonist happy to hear a mixture of different instruments
This is a little faster than what it's supposed to be played at but this a orchestra did an amazing job nonetheless! I'm a touch upset that a bassoon got the part at measure 53. I may be biased but I think I prefer the bass clarinet on that part. c;
Beautiful piece!! I think this orchestra version is better than the original but it would sound exponentially better with a bass clarinet instead of a bassoon! ;) Sorry I am a bass clarinetist!

This piece is in my marching show this year for the ballad section! It’s a true pleasure to perform such a beautiful work of art.

Steven Bryant just came to my bands peformance to conduct this piece for us.... truly amazing. Flew all the way in from Austria
This song gives me chills every time...so beautiful!
I just started playing in symphony as a freshman and we're playing this piece. It's so awesome! I'm playing Violin.
My school’s wind ensemble played this at Carnegie Hall.
Hey, thanks for posting this! Would you mind linking to my original page about it, including the SoundCloud posting of this same audio file? Thanks!

Playing this in my band, and I'm Horn 1, the solo parts are easy, but absolutely stunning!

I like the ones with string instruments much better.

This is beautiful but I can't get past the wind band version.
