Hey Eric, do you use a separate router + managed switch for malware analysis? It's really important to run potential security threats on separate, isolated VLANs so it doesn't spread to your network.
I hate these kinds of fake cheat videos, I once tried to find just Grand Theft Auto 5 gameplay because I was too lazy to record it myself, and I just typed "GTA 5 gameplay" on youtube, and for some reason these kinds of videos showed up, and I found out why, the videos usually have spammed tags in the description which makes the videos show up first. Also, spamming tags in your description is against the TOS and can get your account terminated.
Good luck to the owners of those accounts. I just got a community guideline strike from one of the nasty videos they upload on my other channel after my channel got hacked too.
If you configure something incorrectly. If you run Windows under a Windows host, and are not careful with networking, in theory an escape is possible, but unlikely. Virtualization is used securely in many enterprise applications (such as the cloud), if it was easily broken it wouldn't be useful. If you want added security run the VM from a linux distro (I usually use Arch), and then even if the malware escaped, it would fail to run.
2:59 It is not a virus. The copyright line contains an email address from the gov . pl domain, which is the domain of the Polish government. I am 100% sure that this was prepared by the Ministry of Digitalisation (the body in charge of IT in the Polish government). It is logical that we have Chinese characters in the name of a programme coming from Poland. Very logical.
I generally don't report them because they're compromised channels. The channel is probably owned by someone who already fell for the scam and has now had their channel taken over. RUclips usually suspends them within a day or two, problem is that they keep finding new channels to spread.
@@EricParker Yeah, my channel was also a victim of it recently. They upload random software crack videos on my channel thankfully I manage to caught them immediately.
@@EricParker RUclips will have a headache cracking down these compromised channels. Almost every hour there's new video being uploaded with links to these malware to steal more channels.
Reporting in from Twitter Our community got hammered too. Apparently when some rando sends you a link... And you know your whole deal is making enemies... Yeah probably not a good idea to click em. Immediately the compromised accounts started spewing poisonous links.
Yo can you make a tutorial on how to make a secure sandbox for analyzing malware? Going through the benefits and harms of using using internet and etc. when analyzing via VM. Would help a lot 👍.

no it doesn't, love your channel, but this thumbnail is clickbait. a video doesn't do that on youtube. impossible. Fine with a bit a of bait, but this if straight up fear-mongering.

They used my Instagram account to follow about 200 users that I'm guessing bough a follower bundle or something, and used my RUclips account to watch the propagated videos and leave a like Kinda deserved it lol next time I'm spending the extra cash on legit apps
this is why you don’t trust overly edited thumbnails with sus links in the description
That's the reason I clicked on this video
I clicked on this video because it was such a basic thumbnail

why is it that they put passwords on it anyways?
@@inftt so it can't be detected by antiviruses right away
The password specifically is a file decryption key, the antivirus and the file host can't read the file until it is decrypted.
Imagine this video steals your YT account. Would be a good trick tbh, I would have fallen for it
all fun and games until you realize you haven't even started your VM
I've been watching malware videos for a while and i am gonna boot up my laptop and check for malware with my new knowledge

NATed under VM. Does not touch physical network.

been a while since eric has posted a video. either way, i enjoyed it!
Eric is there a way for a virus/malware/trojan/btc miner to spread from a vm to the main computer?

it depends a bit on what you define as run. there was a way to get information from an host machine (/other vm), via bugs in the CPU
why do you have 700 subs you need way more with content like this
Your the only one i seen do this type of content, i like it and should do more!
Yay, finally a new video! You left us waiting for 3 months. 😢
yo eric could you check if the macro program "tinytask" is safe or not?
the new tinytask is replaced by a new suspicious version from a different company

you definitely can have the video ID in your video its just has to be done with the youtube data API

is tinytask safe tho
what do you mean when you have no wifi on this VM. 20:04
VM does not have a Wifi adapter. It connects via virtual ethernet (wired) connection.
Can you test RUclips malware links like for example vol .gen .in
so what pc do you run the vm on?
i wish RUclips algorithm took this video off!
the bg music is amazing
