The big turning point was when Microsoft started believing that the gaming industry has a future big enough to keep Microsoft competitive with Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple. And then they went "all in on gaming" as Satya Nadella said
I can't wait to play GP when it comes to ps5 next yr.
@@sampson3121 Game Pass on PlayStation and PlayStation’s version of the service on Xbox would be excellent. Both on PC of course.
@@R17759 Sony's not a 3rd party publisher. They depend too much on console sales to move their IP to xbox. Would be interesting though. It would also kill playstation.
@@sampson3121 not yet
I don't understand why any gamer would want MS to corner the gaming market the way those brands you mention have cornered their respective markets.
The other thing I don't see a lot of people commenting on is Xbox has a cornerstone of the E sports scene now too. Halo championship series, overwatch league, Call of Duty, Starcraft, Hearthstone, Quake. This was a multilateral move for them in multiple spaces.
It is because most of the people are in video games but not e-sports and you even hear one of the comments I think Parris made about rolling back on e-sports with Overwatch. Smart move for Microsoft is to roll everything under their MLG branding and have a massive e-sports team supporting everyone and like they were saying basically put on a video game "Super Bowl" every year while supporting all the video game majors throughout the year.
first I beat you all 😂
The podcast ive been waiting for. You guys rock !! loving the fact you got Mr Grubb in on this episode, love his take 😀
Jeff Grubb is a goddamn national treasure. BeefNCheddarBoys!!!!
I’m not an Xbox guy, but so happy for these guys and the Xbox community! Exciting times!
This was the best podcast about Acti-Blizz deal I listened to. I listen to 10 of them, if I’m not mistaken. I still need to check Gamespot. Snowbike Mike surprised me with professionalism and great discussion organization. He was prepared, divided it into concrete segments, ask good questions and the guests followed in a great manner. Examples: first time I heard, regarding Phil Spencer tweet about Sony and CoD, that it might be an invitation to negotiations. It’s so obvious, why I didn’t think about it? Also the e-sports Olympics - very interesting idea.
I’m very surprised, but greatly pleased with this podcast. Podcast Unlocked should study this episode. I will listen to Xcast regularly.
this is such an excellent cast and grubbs only adds to the value of these conversations - love it
I just finished watching the Xbox Documentary, and one of the first things that MS kept bringing up about the original Xbox was betting on the future by including the ethernet port as part of the console and the future of online gaming. The innovation of Xbox Live and the now staple aspect of gamers with headphones was not actually the standard it is now. Xbox actually did make that happen with the original Xbox. If we fast forward to 20 years later, this is what I feel MS/Xbox understands. Though we are not fully there yet, just like with ethernet not being fully standard when the first one released, but we are moving to a future were there will no longer be a need for the actual console. Xlcloud is the first step in this direction.
The guaranteed future of any brand is the first one able to adapt to changes in market as well see where that future is heading. Video games is going the same way as the movie rental business. Netflix got it's start as a DVD rent by mail service, but eventually overtook even Blockbuster who didn't change to the shift in the market nor have enough foresight into the fact that media delivery would change in how people would start watching movies altogether and when they did try to change and adapt, it was too late for them though. I view consoles like Blockbuster were the physical location of going to the rental store is no longer viable and to remain in the old school way of doing things will eventually see you sink ship.
Currently Nintendo and Sony are still somewhat stuck in the Blockbuster model, while MS is shifting to the Netflix Model, understanding that the future isn't physical, but on delivery and accessibility. Sony is starting to realize they need to diversify more as well, the fact that they are now bringing PS games to PC is the first step in this realization. To many think that this means them trying to entice PC gamers to buy a PS console, but I don't think that is the case, I think it's more about them realizing that the old way of doing console business won't be surviving the future for very much longer. In 15 years, the console won't exist, instead, it will be the Xbox Game App, the Nintendo Game App, and the Sony Game app, and you will have these on your TV, Phone, and PC . Peripheral's and games will be the only thing you will need to buy moving forward, everything else will be a sub to the service that each offer.
This and iron lords is going to be fire this week!

Great episode y’all!
Great episode, thanks ya'll
I want another metal arms glitch in the system now they own Sierra 😀
The whole idea of ‘now we have 10,000 extra staff to pay’ I don’t think is really true. The company MS just bought was already paying those people, those individual businesses were already paying the staff and presumably making profit so MS is actually just making more profit. It’s not like all of a sudden activision and blizzard are totally dependent baby companies who can’t do anything without MS’ money, they have games out their making revenue, if MS did nothing with them for the first couple years probably not much would change
Was thinking huh kfgd on Saturday, wow, but it makes sense that xcast is here
This is such a good show
Loved this episode. So many good nuanced takes that really try to see the big picture and look at both the potential good and bad, without falling into common traps of “oh this going to be a greedy monopoly, BAD!” Or “Yay, finally not just COD games every year, good!” Kind of takes that are what most people online are focusing on.
Personally, cannot wait to see what this will do to the industry as a whole and I am more optimistic and excited about this, wether it means more value to gamers via gamepass or simply pushing the other companies (Sony, Nintendo, etc) to counteract this by providing different experiences and working harder on their own franchises.
I did not know what hexen was b4 phil mentioned it but after seeing what it's about DAMN a modern version would be so cool
Hexan 64 was interesting
Does anyone know what type of headphones Mike is using? I'm looking for some quality in-ear headphones. Cheers!
Did the survey, hope it'll help!
Just starting. My body is ready
They are doing it!
Good episode! Just one comment to Parris: A reboot of Quake hasn't even been announced yet, so they never said anything about keeping it multi plat. And with games like Halo and COD I kinda doubt that the new Quake (if it exists) will be a live service focus thing. I think it'll be more similar to Doom 2016. Could be wrong on that!
I think you're on the right track. And I'm in!
Mike: "What do you want to see from this?"
Everyone else: "Nobody can tell the future."
WANTS guys, wants!
PREACH.. Jeff Grub is spot on that we need better laws to protect us from abusive managers!
Paris was so kind about calling the PC xbox app as not ideal lol. It's trash and buggy as hell.
I had a couple of issues with Halo Infinite. But over all the Xbox App has been functional for me. Definitely a lot of room for improvement though. The sooner they go back to x86 the better. It's not exactly putting the heat on Steam.
CoD needs its own "Battlefield Portal" or MCC. Just have all of the legacy maps and modes available to players who want them plus keep Warzone thriving and then do a new story campaign once every four to six years. If they wanted, they could simply add new maps and modes to this "Portal" without needing them to be tied to a yearly story campaign launch.
Can’t say no to more Grubby Content!!!
Haven't seen it yet, but calling it now they made a deal to have each other's apps on each other's console
That would actually be pretty cool. I love sharing!
That’s the ideal future. People can still choose which console they prefer (or PC) and just pay for the service. PlayStation could still have their ecosystem and trophies it would just be available to access on an Xbox console and vice versa for Game Pass on PlayStation.
Jeff Grub 2:50 min 😂😂😂 ( When he feels shy when someone praises him )
The homie Grubb!
love it!
I think the most interesting thing in the acquisition to me is the Films Studio, what do Microsoft do with Activision/Blizzard Studios? Do they start making their own cinematic content? Do they shutter it? Do they License it out?
They are working on a halo TV show. Maybe the y keep it
Elder Scrolls 6 is going to be exclusive and it was on PlayStation previously. Fallout 5 and Wolfenstein was previously on PlayStation too.
For IP ideas, Blizzard made a game called Blackthorne for the SNES. I can see them making a Gears style game out of that.
Why does everyone overlook how great hellblade is from ninjatheory
I want to see the return of Sierra Entertainment. Create from an existing studio or start a new one. Either is fine with me.
Just having like 6 month or so exclusivity or just a lot of exclusive content would be enough to draw people in while keeping sales to casuals on PS. They could essetially have their cake and eat it too but like you all said there are many different ways they could play it.
I can’t see COD no longer making COD every year. I just think Raven and High Moon will start making there own COD and they start getting 5 year development cycles.
I never understood the argument of NOT making it every year. It’s been the best selling game for the last 13 years. It’s not like they are on a one year development cycle. I think they will have a much better support system so some of the other studios can be freed up though.
People think these games are actually in 1 year development cycle when it's up to 3 years on each cod game but yea, 5 years they could do some good shit.
@@stuartbagley2586 ya I think it mostly stems from fatigue of the same kinda games but I think with 5 development studies they can start to explore other wars go back to the future, I think sledgehammers best game was advanced warfare especially compared to WWII and Vanguard.
20:43 There's 'intention' and 'result'. Two different things. I don't intend to stink up the bathroom when I take a shit, but alas, the next person in there is going to need a can of febreze.
I don’t feel for Sony in this situation, once you made STREET FIGHTER an exclusive and countless others, just gotta deal with it lol
Nothing has been announced as exclusive and everything they're saying points to that not changing.......everything's fine lol
@@preyingocelotgames4397 Some games that these studios make in the future definitely will be exclusive.
Microsoft did NOT spent 70 Billion to share games.
We’re going to take this away from you… my answer to that is it’s not taking it away from you if you never had it to begin with. So new titles even new titles from existing properties like COD, well that was never yours to begin with. You need to come to Xbox and places that support Game Pass.
You know if the shoe was on the other foot, PlayStation would never allow COD and the rest of the Activision catalog to come to Xbox. So don’t expect these games on PlayStation. And I wouldn’t expect Game Pass to show up on PlayStation. That seems counter intuitive.
this move probably triggers a video game arms race, get ready cause I think the next 2 years will have some big deals coming that change the landscape
If they are going to make any changes to call of duty, I just want a full call of duty game that focuses on the Vietnam War. I would absolutely love to see this happen.
I believe that was the first Treyarch Call of Duty game just before or after Call of Duty 4, ofcourse with way less graphics on the PS3
That Jeff grubb blury backround was faaaar to much.
Looking forward to all the new games activision will provide
This was an interesting way to find out Meat Loaf died...
Not watched xcast in ages... this line-up I like.
Think you might need a "not male". But you know that.
One thing I’ve noticed about “game analysts”, is they listen to what the executives say, repeat it ad naseum and look at these moves as validation for their analysis when really they’re just parroting what’s already been said. It’s extremely surface level.
No one is asking the real questions. Microsoft is banking on GP being the future, data suggests it’s not. What happens if this thing doesn’t scale the way they projected it to? What about Microsoft’s history of busting organization efforts and how that jives with what the employees at AKB want?
It’s pretty crazy to see how much of an echo chamber we have. Not just at KF but everywhere. Very weird.
So what you are saying is, it's strange that people don't see things the way you see them. Out of interest do you play games on Xbox?
This data that you are seeing that says GP is not working, is apparently different to the data that Microsoft is basing their decision making on.
You're spinning a negative narrative from the past, while ignoring the happy studios releasing quality games in the now.
You talk about echo Chambers, but you can go to any PS channel and hear exactly what you're saying.
Game pass has 25 million subscribers PlayStation now has 2 million for comparison Xbox is simply showing the industry how it should be done it’s not that surprising Microsoft has always been a software company and Xbox has generally lead the industry when it comes to how to deliver gaming services going all the way back to the original Xbox live and then the 360 being the template for how it’s done today on every gaming platform it’s really hasn’t changed that much since than and that’s a real testament to the vision of the Xbox team at that time
@@Str1derNZ I’m not spinning a narrative. I understand people can see things the way they see them, but not acknowledging basic angles is amateur. Why is it so much to ask for them to consider Microsoft’s stance on unions? If you do this professionally this should have been bought up.
Read what I’m saying. The data I’m alluding to is commercial consumer data that is out there. People play less games for longer periods of time. They also don’t consume games the same way they consume tv and music. There is a role for subscription services to play in our art form going forward but I suspect (as the data suggests) that it will not be THE future but a part of it.
What are the consequences when this doesn’t pan out? No need to get offended, I’m simply calling out things that should be factored into the discussion.
@@TheVampireavatar yes they’re doing well. But Are there 100M+ people out there interested in subscription? Are there even 60-80M+ people out there interested? I suspect not.
@@Mr8T1 streaming will be a component for getting over 100 million for sure India has 1.7 billion people plenty of growth potential there for streaming through phones. by 2030 I don’t think 100 million is out of the question it’s a long play by Microsoft but owning the Netflix of games will be valuable for sure.

With the work that Xbox did on the Halo wars series, Im betting that Starcraft 2 see a console port not too long after the purchase is completed…
the time's they are a changin'

I'd like to see yearly COD multiplayer stay multiplat, but then COD campaigns go exclusive and only drop every 2 or 3 years. I think this would keep microtransactions rolling for Microsoft, but it still gives them the prestige exclusives. And people are going to be less pissed than full exclusive. Plus, it allows COD to become a console showcase.
Think the biggest difference with this buyout was that they took out a publisher. From Software used them to publish Sekiro. We are def in the content and exclusive wars now!
Still a few years off, but yeah, you guys are finally catching up and thats great for everyone.
The most expensive tweet in history!
Not a huge seller but one scenario i do see could happen is the COD campaigns could be xbox exclusives
Starcraft Ghost reboot!
Such a balanced and thoughtful discussion. This is why I avoid twitter and stick with lengthy and fulsome discussions.
I think Uncle Phil is trying to "Skyrimromiz", (if that's a word) Gamepass!!!!
I am literally all for you guys just talking about this forever lol
If only Mixer doesn't goes under.
I can only imagine how PS4 owners feel about this news and if it will affect their purchasing decision when next-gen consoles are more readily available.
Any cod fan in the market for a new console will still be able to play cod for at least the next two years PlayStation. The change up I’m more interested in is if gamepass comes to PlayStation. That would effectively make an Xbox console useless
Its likely not relevant to anyone except people that only play call of duty. I buy cod every year myself and the PS5 is still a must have console for everything produced by insomniac/naughty dog/sucker punch/santa monica/guerilla. Maybe it makes some people buy both consoles once that exclusivity happens which is likely years down the road
@@bombeard There are still reasons that one would play on Xbox. Controller, backwards compatibility, achievements, etc. Perhaps not reasons that many people would care about, but there are reasons.
Expect the price for gamepass to go up
Doubtful
They have tenchu it needs to come back
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOO!!!!
Call of Duty must go F2P now so its available on ALL platforms and the F2P model also won't split the CoD community - either because of Platform choice (PS5 vs Game Pass) or by generations (CoD2022 vs CoD2023). They can update it 'regularly' to maybe jump between Eras (WW2, Modern etc) just like Warzone. This doesn't split the community which is what MS want so it seems inevitable that Multi player CoD will be F2P so that no-one is left out - no barrier to play (free), no split community by platform choice etc. The only thing that 'makes' sense is to have a 'live service' Free Online MP CoD that has seasons, regular refreshes etc like Warzone rather than 'make' new games every 'year' or 'two' that are sold on Sony's store making Sony more money as the Platform holder and retailer than Xbox as IP owner, Developer and Publisher.
Maybe Raven will take on CoD F2P Online. That would free up the other devs to make the games they want. Treyarch could make a new Zombies game without having to tie it in to CoD (WW2 Nazi's) so create their 'new' IP for Xbox. Infinity Ward may want to try a 3rd Person Action Adventure to break away from First Person CoD, High Moon could opt to do something with their Darkwatch IP, Sledgehammer may have a new IP they'd like to make, Beenox could make a Kart Racer/Smash Bros/Party game with characters from Spyro, Crash, Banjo, Conker, Psychonauts, Halo, Doom, Quake, Hexen, Perfect Dark, CoD, Warcraft, Skyrim, Fallout, Dishonoured, Fable, Hellblade, Gears of War etc etc ALL on GAME PASS platforms EXCLUSIVELY!.
CoD MP/Warzone will 'remain' in a F2P model and Sony will still get 'revenue' from Battle Pass, CoD Points sales etc, still get the big name Multi-player, still support those Communities etc etc so from that perspective, Online CoD will remain on PS. It doesn't make sense to split the community or try and 'force' them to switch platforms. However, they don't want to tie up all those developers making games that release on other platforms.
They 'NEED' at least 12 big New games every year to get people to subscribe to Game Pass and stay subscribed for the 'next' month's big game. Ideally, they want their 'own' studio's making those games as its the most 'lucrative' option but they also have Xbox Publishing for 3rd Party Studio's and then if there are still gaps, they have to go to 3rd party publishers to try and negotiate a deal to release on Game Pass but ideally, they want their studio's all making their own games that people WANT to Play (critically acclaimed and/or high player acclaim) so they not only Subscribe, but stay subscribed! They may also use CoD, Crash, Doom, Wolfenstein, Elder Scrolls etc etc to get Game Pass on Playstation too and get Sony's 'Spartacus' and their games on Xbox -even if they are streaming only @1080/60 on their 'rivals' hardware...
COD love em or hate em makes billions each year with current model, why on earth would they go f2p?
@@reach5589 Because its not sustainable and burning out developers, splits the community every year between those on last years and those on this years and being driven into the ground by Activision. That's NOT MS's way and the F2P model can also be 'lucrative' with Battle Pass seasons, CoD points to buy Cosmetics etc etc. Most of the MP's nowadays are 'F2P' which isn't helping the perceived 'value' of CoD/BF etc. Warzone is bigger than CoD.
The whole point of 'Game Pass' is to not measure a games success by its commercial success. Putting CoD on Game Pass isn't going to help sales and as the 'retailer' and platform holder, Sony make more money from sales of Games through their store than MS would as Publisher/developer.
MS wants to grow Game Pass and 'keep' people subscribed every month and putting CoD out to 'buy' on PS5 every year, taking up multiple studio's and staff to crunch out a 'new' game doesn't make ANY sense to MS. They'd rather have 'Billions' each year because of more Subscribers on Game Pass and add to that from 'sales' of Battle Pass/CoD points in Warzone/F2P MP and the fact that being 'F2P' may bring many more players into CoD MP because there is NO barrier to 'entry', this could end up benefiting the CoD Community, MS and Sony. Sony 'could' lose ALL revenue from CoD, the CoD community would be split up by those on older games vs the new, split by platform (old Activision Cod on PS5 vs new Xbox CoD on Game Pass) and therefore it makes much more sense to go F2P and get money from ALL platforms. $15-$20 Battle Pass for 'each' of a 3month season a year would be about the 'same' as selling a 'new' game every year anyway!!!
The Modern Warfare setting should just become the Call of Duty multiplayer game alongside Warzone. Still make campaigns and zombie additions in whatever era you want, but just focus on making a single multiplayer experience and refining/adding to it over time. These games already operate as free to play by selling a battle pass and cosmetics so I would like to see the yearly $60 releases stop sooner rather than later.
@@R17759 Exactly - That's how Call of Duty will be - just the Multi-player suite that gets new content, maps etc with seasons and 'rotations' alongside Warzone.
That won't split the community because every CoD gamer has access to the MP and Warzone. F2P also means everyone can play, not just those who can buy too so CoD name will be 'EVERYWHERE' which everyone will know is owned by MS so win for them.
There won't be annual CoD releases splitting the community between those who buy the latest and those stuck on the last. CoD Online will be F2P indefinitely.
Microsoft will want to keep the entire CoD Community happy and that they will ALL get the same updates, same new maps etc at the same time. Maybe even do some 'Retro/Portal' type mode or Halo:MCC of all the CoD Multi-players in a CoD Online Hub that includes the MP Suite & Warzone)
Apart from whatever team takes on this, maybe even form a team from IW, Treyarch etc to be the 'CoD' online Studio focussed solely on 'CoD' online. But the other studios will make whatever games they want to and for Game Pass ONLY platforms.
MS wants every studio they can working on their own games exclusively for Xbox. They won't make a new 'CoD' Multi-player because they have F2P CoD Multi-player. They may make some CoD SP if a studio wants to or use the CoD name to spin off into a different genre maybe arcade flight fighter (CoD: Battle of Britain), 3rd Person Co-op Stealth game (CoD:SAS) or whatever they want. CoD MP/Warzone are still on PS to play...
Oooo
If someone asked me what console to go for, and money wasn’t a major factor, I would still go Sony. There are just way more high quality current and previous gen games on PlayStation to play right now and in the very near future. Maybe in the future that will change, but I wouldn’t suggest someone buy a console on the potential of future great games. Now if they were on a limited budget I think Xbox with game pass is a no brainier. It’s amazing for my 12 year old nephew who would have to wait for Xmas and his bday every year for something new to play.
There will always be a need for physical media
It's dying right now
When he says desire put on playstation 5 that's meant with gamepass LoL because that's the only way you will get it on your console
The money they would make by leaving it as is is not something they are going to sacrifice. CoD staying on Playstation is massive for them. I say this as someone who hates CoD, but understands that whoever owns it wants it to be as accessible to everyone as possible so they can throw money at it. Everything else acquired is maybe debatable, but CoD will stay on Playstation without any other conditions.
Jeff Grubb “I stoped covering mobile gaming because it was stagnant and the same game (candy crush) had topped the charts since 2013.
Call of duty, 13 years as bestseller: hold my beer
This seems simple to me. Activision has 3 CODS in development at any given time, not counting warzone. They have a contract with sony to give COD on their platform special timed content or whatever. Until that contract expires microsoft will keep honoring it. I'd guess the next 3 games already have contracts with sony so the earliest we'd see anything change would be 2025. For all we know that contract might extend to 2028 or even 2030. Nothing will change on cods side until those contracts are done with. after that I suspect we'll see cod either be exclusive to xbox minus warzone or have the extra content hit xbox first before playstation.
Good podcast. Grubb definitely added a great dimension to the analysis. Could have gone for Barrett tee-ing off on some of the unionbusting angle especially with the Raven software QA angle. Also I know it's an easy comparison to make but making the 9/11 comparison is always an issue cause it makes for great out of context clickbait and then it comes accross as super crass.
we are nowhere near apple/android yet.
We live in a society :)
I want Prototype 3 and new High Moon Transgenders War for Cybertron
I feel like the bad publicity for Activision is very loud in our niche community of gaming news and gaming media. The average people who get Call of Duty each Christmas etc aren't paying attention to all of that info. The NPD numbers show people don't care about Activision because Vanguard and Black Ops Cold War were still the top selling games of the year.
There wasn’t much competition and sales are down 40% for COD. Sony needs to bring Soccom back
Sure maybe but the government had started rattling the cages because of the California DEFH lawsuit and shareholders were also suing so maybe not bad publicity in the general public but enough noise in regulatory bodies that matter.
@@BhandariShashank to add to his point… most people don’t care about gaming news. We are such a niche community. You could expect a minor drop, but 40% is a massive drop. People are not interested in call of duty
@@Joelda23 When Modern Warfare II comes out it will become the best selling Call of Duty game ever. Vanguard is still the best selling game of 2021 and the number 2 best selling game of 2021 was Cold War. People have been saying CoD is dead or nobody cares about CoD anymore for the past 10 years. It would be more accurate to say that not as many people care about Vanguard specifically, which is true.
Vanguard did sell less in the uk than Cold War but it’s mostly just because people are tired of WW2
I seriously doubt gamepass goes to playstation.
Yea 100% agree am pissed that valheim, new world and valentine are all pc only should make xbox preview program a early access point cut the cost for new games
So, if single player AAA games are the best games on playstation why are sony fans losing their mind over COD going exclusive?
They want everything and Xbox has none. That's their mindset rn
@@blackraven85_1 Then I would think that playstation fans would push Sony to create even more 3A titles. Wouldn't that be better for them than having a game like COD?
First of all you people need to stop using Minecraft as an example when it pertains to exclusivity. Minecraft had verbiage written into the contract that prohibited Microsoft from keeping it off other platforms. This is not the case for Activision/Blizzard.
The real question is Microsoft as a whole is seriously investing into video games and they still have money left and will have a new budget every year. What is the next move they make?
Having Gamepass on Playstation would practically kill the xbox console system why would anybody ever buy an Xbox when you can just buy Playstation that have Gamepass and also have access to all Playstation exclusive games. This strategy would make Playstation untouchable And they would charge a premium price to buy they console.. I hope Microsoft don't even consider such deals.
I’d say Keep COD Exclusive, so we can all just game on Xbox and everybody has Game Pass. 1 🔥 subscription instead of 10,000 different subscriptions. That will please all gamers.
Toys For Bob ……BLINX!!!

20:00 Phil didn't say that, he said nothing about publishing future games. he said they will honor "currently existing" agreements & won't be taking anything away from the "currently existing" communities on those consoles. you could easily read that as Warzone & Vanguard won't get delisted from PS4/PS5 but the next COD proper or whatever battle royale that comes after Warzone, there are no guarantees that Sony will get those. not unlike how Elder Scrolls Online will stay on playstation but Elder Scrolls 6 is exclusive.
I am not qualified to provide medical advice but I am going to say his heart rate was hopefully not zero.
Call of Duty will be Xbox exclusive when the contracts end. With Game Pass you save up to $600 every year. With that money buy every console and everyone can stop bashing
Minecraft, imho, is the example that proves the rule. There is no Minecraft 2. Minecraft was an existing online service game which had a big community on PlayStation when they bought mojang. They simply didn't remove it from the ps store, and they continued to support it. If there WAS a Minecraft 2, it would be exclusive. COD warzone is the same, so will continue to be sold and supported on PS. The single player portion of new unannounced call of duty sequels will be exclusive (after any preexisting contacts expire). Look at hellblade. HB1 was exclusive to PlayStation, then, xbox bought ninja theory, and HB1 came to xbox and game pass, now, HB2 is exclusive to the xbox platform, along with ALL other NT games, but you can still buy HB1 on ps. After all the acquisitions, not 1 of the studios they acquired has gone on to make or even announce a new game that has released/will release on ps. Not 1. And before anyone cites Minecraft dungeons, that game was made by double eleven, a 2nd party studio.
Call of Duty is on the same terms as Minecraft but if the player base goes below something like 10 million on Playstation then I can see the game become exclusive on Xbox.
I can't wait to play GamePass on my ps5.
Never gonna happen
@@ansem383 Phil would do it in a heartbeat.
