  • Duloxetine / Cymbalta Withdrawal - Depression - Suicidal Ideation
I've been trying to get help for 7 years. I've been to many different therapists and doctors seeking help. I've tried both medical and non medical solutions. The antidepressants that I've tried have not given me any relief. I can't even remember all of them. The first one I tried was Prozac and I hated that one. I just switched to Wellbutrin but it has only been a couple weeks so it's hard to tell if it is working yet. Especially since I'm suffering from extreme withdrawals from duloxetine (cymbalta). I suffer from ADHD, depression, major depressive disorder, ocd, borderline personality disorder.

@@sg1315 Oh girl. Thanks for your contribution to the conversation and explaining what the hell you mean by “oh boy”. Do you disagree with the comment, disagree with the video, or are you excited about something? Id say the majority of us here watching a video about getting off antidepressants, probably don’t believe antidepressants have changed their life in a positive way. So you’re condescending comment makes you seem like an inexperienced, non-sympathetic, shitty, ignorant or arrogant person. Im not saying you’re any of those things but you kind of come off that way.

Update for anyone else reading this. I’ve hit the 6 week mark. And I’m me again. I did have to go to emergency room for severe insomnia. They prescribed Lunesta for 1 week only ! Just to get my sleep back on track and let the mind and body heal. Cannabis didn’t help so stay away from it. I thought it did but it ended up making it worse after a week. So it’s true it’s takes 6 weeks to get your brain to heal back to its normal self. All symptoms are gone. I’m actually sleeping 10 hours a night and have no complaints. Also quit all caffeine in the process. I’m a coffee and soda addict and I never really thought about the affects it can have on the body and mind. It’s helped out hugeeee. Good luck guys and hold on and stay strong 💪🏻 God bless

Thank you for sharing your experience! I used to have a bad caffeine problem too. Now I drink half caffeine coffee and limit it to 1 or 2 cups per day. I've gone long stretches with no caffeine before. I think over a year once. It was great. I wish you all the best on your journey! 🖤

Pheww, the insomnia is real! I normally cant continue living without sleeping 7-8 hrs a day. Im decreasing my dosage from 90mg to 60mg, its now 2nd day and i could sleep only for like 4 hours maybe. I feel sleepy af but cant release myself into the state of sleep. My brain is working like a fast machine but i cant function. Its so annoying. Its not my first withdrawal, ive been through various hells a few times with different antidepressants (efexor, cipram) before, since my health issues have been all about depression, anxiety, etc etc since my teenage times. Medication is a life saver, cant deny it but letting go is no different than (maybe even worse) a drug addict's journey in sobrierty rehabilitation. Btw im so dependant on caffeine also, so letting go of the filter coffee feels equally awful. We all know how the caffeine cravings feel :/ But im gonna limit myself only with the morning cup from today on..because the insomia is reallll😑😑

I’m microdosing with magic mushroomed which is helping with the withdrawal symptoms. I’ve had brain zaps, hot flashes, irritability, and intense tinnitus. Every time I’ve eaten a small mushroom, the symptoms stopped until later in the day in which I just take another. Thought I’d share what has helped me. Especially now that magic mushrooms are legal.

This is me currently. Have been off it cold turkey for a week and a little and it's been hellish. Vivid, strange, disconcerting dreams when I manage sleep, but am dealing also with bad insomnia, and flu feelings and brainzaps just started today. Have also been dealing with the feeling faint a lot which makes it hard to leave the house. I have been deciding whether or not to go to ER and get a team of doctors to help but I know I'll just get put on more meds and I'm not willing to do it. Reading your reply makes me feel a bit better as at least I know others have experienced the day. It's the feeling faint and exhaustion and insomnia and debilitating depression that has been hitting me harddddd. I'm trying to find ways to ease the withdrawal.

I used to struggle with depression all through my teenage 13 years old until 30 years old at age 30 I met someone who invited me to church, and I started reading the Bible. There is no medication like what The Lord Jesus Christ, can do. I have not cut my wrist, or had the same feelings of depression like I used to have we all need Jesus Christ in our lives to be free from any demonic attack. Jesus delivered me and saved me from myself.

I also have the cry for nothing, extreme anger and laughing at wierd stuff syndrome. The hopeless feeling and the feeling of being a failure is tough. The lack of sleep, even if I have Lergigan, Quetiapin, Atharax and Agomelatin is a struggle. Just feel so tired and exhausted. Maby have to put myself in the clinic for a few days (did it when quitting Voxra). I'm not suicidal but I don't have that normal "I would never" restriction either and that's scary. I appreciate this video a lot. I just started taking Duloxetine today to help with my anxiety, depression, and numbness sensations I feel throughout my body. I can only fall asleep when my eyes are extremely heavy to avoid the brain zaps so typically I fall asleep around 5-6am.

Brain zaps suck! I had forgotten the part that you call one inch heart attacks, but yeah more strangeness from this med. I was originally prescribed it for Fibromyalgia pain and it did nothing at all for that. It did make my Fibrofog even worse and it made me stumbly. I would trip walking upstairs. My doctor was getting frustrated with me because nothing he tried made any difference, we had a bad visit where we were both irritated by the other and after that visit I quit taking Duloxetine altogether. Bad choice on my part but I had never been warned about the withdrawals. Horrible time. One of the reasons I wanted to stop taking it was because it changed my personality so much that even I noticed I was different. I wasn't suicidal but it was a very dark time. Not sure how else to describe it but it wasn't good. I hate that you're going through this but I appreciate you sharing your experience. I was taking 60mg for almost 2 years for Fibromyalgia and MDD, and at the time it was a lifesaver. I was able to work fulltime which before I thought was impossible. I'm hoping to start a family soon so thought it was best to try to get off it. I work in management and the withdrawal symptoms are hard to hide. My body shakes, every time I turn my eyes I get full body zaps and white noise. The nausea is so intense. My migraines and body pain have returned. What's more is I keep getting massive bouts of vertigo alongside a permanent weird dizzy/sick feeling in my head.. Anyone else had that? I keep trying to fight to get off these tablets after so long, but I'm not in the best headspace right now, thankfully I've got weekly therapy and a loving family - but it's tough, and my heart goes out to those also suffering.

Been taking for several years, hasn't done much for my depression. Decided it should be discontinued when I had withdraws after a pharmacy issue and I went without for 2 days.
Went from 60 to 30 to 20 over two months. Just stopped 2 days ago. Withdraws are slightly less severe, but not by much. Confusion, brain fog, mood swings that go from intense anger and rage to crying. When I move my eyes to one side, I experience this "zap" and feel vertigo. It's disorienting. The mood swings create a lot of shame and loss of sense of self.
I'd rather deal with episodes of major depression over having to experience whatever the hell this is. At least I know what depression is-it is familiar, understandable, and I know what I can do about it. This, I am fairly helpless and lost, and I have no idea when it will end.

I've been taking Cymbalta for approximately four years. 60 mg. If I forget to take it for a couple of days, withdrawal symptoms are noticeably present; dizziness accompanied by amplified depression and anxiety. My latest hiccup lasted about a week, and the side effects were enough to convince me to possibly quit. Though I always have so much going on, it feels like it would be such a burden in my life to deal with withdrawal symptoms. I can only imagine how 120 feels.

As someone who worked on the front line supporting those with mental health challenges, i observed that many who had borderline PD didn't seem to respond well to anti depression meds. They did better on mood stabilisers like lamictal. This isnt medical advice as i am not a doctor . Some of my clients found lamictal improved mood, helped anxiety, and prevented some of the lows. A few found using low doses of drugs like seroquel or olanzapine in combination even more helpful, especially with DBT talking therapy. Again, not medical advice, and you must always speak with your psy doc or GP to see what options are open to your unique physiology. May take a few goes to get things right. Best wishes from the UK. Keep fighting!

Im currently on day 2 of completely stopping cymbalta. I did some research beforehand, so i knew not to stop cold turkey. I've been opening the capsules and tipping the medication out slowly over a period of a month.
The one thing i can't find anything on and the whole reason why im getting off of it is because of my dreams and involuntary movements. I had been acting out some of my dreams where i was mostly fighting with someone, and i was physically throwing punches and kicks. I hit my partner a few times quite hard, and we ended up sleeping in separate beds for a while. I also scratched my face with my nails from top to bottom because of a dream i was having.
Since tampering off slowly, my partner says i haven't been moving and twitching as much. I never experienced anything like this before taking this medication.
Anyway, thank you for making this video as now my partner can understand just how hard it is to get off cymbalta.
I sincerely hope you are doing well now.

I had a breakdown and threw all of my meds away and refused to talk to any more doctors, (which I don't recommend for everyone, I'm just a stubborn asshole lol). I did that about 2 days after my comment above. I honestly feel amazing now! Still have some random withdrawal stuff while my brain resets itself, but to be honest, I feel great. For my situation, it's society and government/local commune that is putting too much pressure and trying to push me into these roles/cultures that I don't fit into and when I push back and say no, they threaten me with financial sanctions which means I prolly end up on the streets, and the side effects from them giving me all this stress is making me physically ill, getting extreme stomach and chest pains, getting angst and depressed because I feel like I am stuck in life and that I am a slave and the government owns me which really messes up with my head... I know that all my symptoms go away when the local commune let me be who I am and let me be at peace without sticking their nose into my life and just let me do my own startup business, so I know I don't need meds to function, it's the environment and commune pushing me, that makes me sick but my doc won't listen, he wants to put me on Duloxetin, but no thanks, I don't trust any of these meds.
