Hi Joy, $2k is quite luxury living here 😊. Normal starting salary in BKK is only $500. I am sure all Thai want to talk to you but they are not confident in their English You can easily find Thai BF who wants to practice his Eng, while you practice your Thai. BKK is messy but fun both day and night, but real Thai is outside BKK. Food, air, people, nature are much better and cheaper than BKK. Klongtoey is unsafe only if you walk into the middle of Slum after 9pm. MRT Klongtoey station is 100% safe, and I believe BTS/MRT here is one of the world's safest. Chill (Sabay Sabay) is part of Thai culture. Another is Kreng-jai, I don't think they have vocab in Eng yet. You can practice more Thai by joining club that you like, be it running, cooking, or etc. Or you can try homestay for 1 week. Enjoy your time here. I am 100% sure every Thai welcome you here with open arms.
Your Thai language has been improved a lot! With one more year in Thailand, you should basically communicate with local people easily. Nice to have you here in Bangkok Thailand Joyce!
I'm so glad that Thailand made you feel comfortable and safe, gave you a chill vibe, and even made you see yourself here in the next 1 or 2 years. I really wish you happiness and joy here in Thailand while you reach your personal goal as well.
Sometimes we laugh or smile, it is the first gesture to cover the shyness or don't know what to do at the moment, not because they laugh at the person. Especially when we can't speak or understand the language. 😅
Hey Joyce! I don’t usually comment but just wanted to drop a note to tell you how much I love your videos and how much assurance(?) it has given me for my upcoming move to BKK next year. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and I bit the bullet and made the decision after watching your ‘first day living in Bangkok’ video. Hope to see you around then😊
Utter waste of time. Thailand is not a country that accepts immigration or provide any long-term prospect for living as a foreigner. Sooner or later you will face visa issues and frustration that comes from heavy pollution, traffic jam, cultural barrier, and corruption. It's a country that you might stay just for a week or month. no more.
Same here, I’m moving to Bangkok soon as well and Joyce’s input on IG and RUclips has given me some assurance too. Hope we can all can meet up one day. 😊
I absolutely love your enthusiasm for Thailand and I completely agree. The place has had the same effect on me; I've become a more open, generous, and kind person. I can't wait to return. I love you Thailand
ms gurl, if you're planning stay here for the next year or two. make sure you get health insurance too na, it usually comes with throughout medical check each year. this will help u control some unexpected expenses
I like your dreamy side and practical street smart side, the two sides perfectly blend in in your video and I like your dedication to Thai language and culture as an ABC living in Thailand
"If you come to Thailand & you are not happy, that's really on you"-Joyce Sin Very true.As a 'bit' of a traveler myself, after my retirement as a flight crew...I've been coming to Bkk every other month just to chill & at times doing next to nothing and am happy 😃! Love your simple & candid videos (am watching some other youtubers on/with Bkk/Thai contents too). Keep it up & stay happy 👍🏻😊
Really love your videos, am in Bangkok now and hope to bump into you! Watching the Thai dramas really got me into understanding the culture, language and songs more!
I graduated from Chula. Their are many great spot to sit. If you go to Chiang Mai, you can try visiting Chiang Mai University campus especially at the reservoir called "Ang Kaew". It is so chill and good vibe.
I am Thai. I would like to say that all Thai people still agree that the Thai language is very difficult. Therefore, I would like to present a quick way to learn Thai. I live in Udon Thani, and the cost of living here is even lower for example, I pay 8k baht for my studio which is located in the best place in the city and is excellent. However, I have plans to move to Bangkok, although I like Udon, I think Bangkok is the best city to live in Thailand. About you being from a small town and being introverted, I'm the opposite, I come from a big city in Brazil, where everyone is super communicative, I can talk about anything, with anyone anywhere, I love talking to strangers hahahahahaha
Hi Joyce, got addicted to your videos for some reasons, I'm Thai who used to live in the U.S. (Los Angeles) for like 3 years. I have been watching your video for practicing my listening skill for a while. You are talking very fast but easily to catch. By the way, your Thai language has improved. It is very nice to have you here in Thailand and cheer our country up. I wish you luck and love Thailand as much as we do. Cheer !!
You asked about an area that might be more down to earth and local , Wongwian Yai is an area on the Silom line that fits this description without being a ghetto. It's extremely good value and well worth considering for long term living.
Your pronunciation of Thai sounds really good to me. When you say a phrase or a short sentence, it's like a 9 out of 10! 👍✨️ It's great to hear that you love Thailand. 🇹🇭
Thank you for posting this, I’m literally sitting a the airport on my way to Thailand. I have kind of a similar story where I’m from a small town USA 😂 (i was born in Thailand) and super introvert as well I have like 3 good friends back in the US. Hopefully I’ll be able to make more friends out in Bangkok ! On the upside though I still speak fluent thai I can read and write as well
"If you come to Thailand and you're not happy, that's really on you." - I like how you put it, so true. Thailand's got mix of modern and traditional setting next to each other, depending which angle you're looking. You may want to enjoy malls with ACs, but you also crave traditional tom yom noodles on street, you can. And it's not poverty, cuz the local street food are delicious and they are o making more revenue a month than most office workers dressed beautifully on high rise building. Joyce, If you like Thai university vibe, you should try to visit Kasetsart university. It has many great food courts, probably the best of all universities in Thailand both cheap price and good food.
I used to know a professor in the Chulalongkorn medical school who was doing his post doc at OSU so it was cool to see Chulalongkorn, even if it was the engineering department.
Been last year in bgk and i visited that university area and i was "why is this familiar to me?:)))" near university is "museum of imaging technology" that i visited :)) i recommend to visit it, greetings from Romania👋🏻
Regarding Thai language, You are doing well, BTW Love = Kwarm Rak or Rak(รัก) "ร" it's pronouce as "R", while Lak(ลัก) actually means "steal" so please becareful. Anyway, with this amount of effort you putting into, your Thai language will be close to perfect in around 3 years (You probably be able to make proper conver to locals within a year) Watching Thai series is a very good way to improve(in term of correct accent and appropriateness). Having someone to talk to can improve greatly as well but since you are an introvert so maybe it's not an option, however having people to help correcting the specific words or sentenses could be really helpful though. Since Thai language has many shades and not every locals speak Thai with the same accent hence you may need to choose your role model carefully. If you are a GMMTV fan, I recommend to try immitate these following actors/actresses; - Tay Tawan (calm, nice tone, good pronunciation) - Namtan Tipnaree (elegant, misterious, perfect pronunciation) - Film Rachanun (confident, charming, clear pronunciation) - Jane Ramida (cool, decent pronunciation) please avoid; - Prim Chanikarn (Unclear pronunciation) - Dew Jirawat (Unclear pronuciation, a little careless) Hope this helps.
Don't they not have DonQuixote? Muji is quite pricey. Also, I think it's super cute that you still use "bougie" I haven't heard anyone say that for quite long time.

ISTP here krub. Let me give you trick to practice Tonal language like Thai in a way that will stick into your brain for good. 1. Write down consonant and pronouce it 2. Write down each vowels and pronouce it. 3. Combine basic consonants and vowels to become word and then pronounce it. Add additional tone marker for basic words and pronounce it. All of above stage you may need to practice - Write according to the words after teacher. I want to move and live there for a time at least but very low knowledge of the possible income a foreigner can work with. A lot of videos everywhere on expenses and that’s fine but very few in comparison on jobs a foreigner can get. Most people think also of retirement. That means living off of savings. I need stable and.constant income, not savings, and become part of the life there to maintain a life there. Besides all that mess, your Thai has rapidly improved. 👍
So agree with liking Thailand because of who you become! I think I like the country not necessarily because I had a nice trip (there were so many things that popped up that I could've complained about) but rather what I learnt about myself while I was there while solving all those things 🙂 On another note I spent an hour trying to find the engineering building at Chula on my trip there and never found it 🤣Found the economics building instead 😅
Enjoying the young people perspective. I've been in Thailand nearly 20 years. Your pricing is about right, much cheaper in Isaan. I wonder if you want to cover how to earn that budget? I don't know many American 20yo who can quit their job and have a year of budget to live overseas. There's nowhere to work or earn in Thailand. I have a friend who's been coming here for a decade. He waits tables in a US tourist city 6 months and then travels SE Asia 6 months.
You ARE pretty! Thai girls are also pretty. Enjoy being single. But if you want to change that you have to make the 1st move Thai guys are super shy I guarantee that every couple you ever talk to there were in the same class, met through friends etc, NO one will say " Oh, I thought she was pretty and I had to talk to her.! That's just the Movies.! (I travel to Thailand every year for my job so I know stuff)
Just discovered you, really enjoy your content. I intend to retire to Thailand in a few years and want to study the language. Wondering what works for you. Are your notes distilled from conversations or text books / videos? Thx.
I think your visa status will be shown to the immigration officer once the owner of the condominium submit your info to TM30 form. The owner is required by law to submit the form if there is a foreigner reside in his/her residence. Anyway, I do like many of your videos, very funny and interesting and jia you with learning Thai !
In the next 3-4 years Bangkok wil transform into something else even more clean and modern already, a lot of big projects around the city will be completed such as: sky train extension(you will go to concert at Impact arena much more easier), underground train extension, new massive park at oldtown district, clean canals with more green area, The messy wires around the city will go underground, EV bus 100% around the city.
EV bus 100% around the city? lol. The majority of buses here are still from 1970s, nothing can be done, because of financial issues with the country. Surely there will be some new malls and condos built, but the overall cleanliness, infrastructure, heavy pollution, traffic jam will deteriorate or at best the same for decades. Thailand is in decline in every aspect for YEARS due to political issues.
@@문수진-c9o what I’ve mentioned are all ongoing projects. The amount of EV buses are already been increasing in every districts around Bangkok, kinda strange you can’t find any.
@@문수진-c9o actually there are news, updates, clips about the progression of many projects around Bangkok and it,s not even hard to find. Only if you can understand Thai and know exactly what they are saying.
Condominium rent price depend on location Transport payment if we use metro train only 1 line it's ok F&B depend on lifestyle it's variety for foreigner i Think work on teacher with internarional school or teacher with thai scholl on ep or mini ep It's good wage
I love your vibe I too am a big fan of Bangkok and visit or try to visit at least once a year sometimes twice if I'm lucky we are coming at the end of January maybe we can meet I also love BL series
Should visit other Uni`s like Ramhkamhaeng (Law/Business), Silapakorn (Art ) and Thammasat (Law/Engineering) University..it is a liberal university where students staged anti-Gov/Coup. There are other famous Uni`s in the Provinces like Songkhla, Konkan, and Chiangmai etc…

But if you want to change that you have to make the 1st move Thai guys are super shy
I guarantee that every couple you ever talk to there were in the same class, met through friends etc, NO one will say " Oh, I thought she was pretty and I had to talk to her.! That's just the Movies.! (I travel to Thailand every year for my job so I know stuff)
Just discovered you, really enjoy your content. I intend to retire to Thailand in a few years and want to study the language. Wondering what works for you. Are your notes distilled from conversations or text books / videos? Thx.
Hi! Joyce. You can speak Thai fluently👍🏻 Admire your determination to learn up the language. Happy for you 😊

Thank You Three Time 🧡
Your Thai is much better now 😮😮can’t wait to speak Thai with you 😜
I would totally move to Bangkok for Joyce. Such a babe
In the next 3-4 years Bangkok wil transform into something else even more clean and modern already, a lot of big projects around the city will be completed such as: sky train extension(you will go to concert at Impact arena much more easier), underground train extension, new massive park at oldtown district, clean canals with more green area, The messy wires around the city will go underground, EV bus 100% around the city.
pollution from agriculture still same
@@inzakaew You mean Chiang mai right?
Only if you can understand Thai and know exactly what they are saying.
feel glad that you like thailand
welcome welcome
you are not alone, I started getting interested in Thailand because of GL series 😅 and maybe live there one day
Thanks for the informative video Joyce 😊
US $1k to 2k a month is a lot for Thailand. Your hometown sounds like Singapore. No one talks to stranger in Singapore.
คุณจ๊อยเก่งมากครับ เป้นกำลังให้คุณครับ❤❤❤
Condominium rent price depend on location
