37:40 This isn't actually a bug, this behavior has to do with how the process for casting/activating X-cost spells/abilities works. When you activate an X-cost ability, you first choose the value for X, then pay costs, and then choose targets. Since you chose X=3, and since you didn't have any one-mana artifacts, there's no combination of artifacts with Automated Artificer that you could exile in order to get a total mana value of exactly 3. The correct way to use the ability would instead be to select X=4, then exile Automated Artificer and another artifact to pay the cost.
It is a bug though. The artifact has not been working for me at all, I never get the option to choose more than one artifact, often I can't choose any at all.
The cost for the ability requires you to exile artifacs with total mana value X to get something back that costs X or less. If you want to get back a 3-cost by sacrificing two 2-drops, you have to select X=4. Otherwise if you select X=3 it'll let you pick one of your 2-drops but not the other because you end up going above the activation cost. Honestly they should've just made the cost say total mana value X or greater and then it'd be a lot more intuitive.@@szandorkane6372
I found adding a couple Teferi's along with Celestus really helped with life gain and ramp. It is a little win more, but Tef also helps meld Urza and then being able to activate him twice really gets the wheels turning. I added Farewell at my top end. I rarely want to exile graveyards or Artifacts, however I can plan around either if I need to. That said the versatility of wiping Enchantments can really turn some games around in the current meta. Between Ossification, Leyline Binding, Up the Beanstalk and the various Virtues, farewell can really stop you from getting buried in value. Not sure how I overlooked Mirrex, thank you for that one!
@@willdomm4122 Teferi who slows the sunset. Untap land, arti and creature and give you +3 (or 4 if you untap mind and weak stone) and really crafting and melding simple
17:05 Small note: instead of bouncing Tishana's Tidebinder to free the Barracks of the Thousand temporarily, you can use Otawara to bounce the land itself, since it's an artifact, and replay it. (Your line likely was superior anyways.)

You can also do some really neat shenanigans with Tefari by untapping a land and artifact with full control with the moon smithy. Also, Mirror Box would play well in this deck.
Urza , Prince of Kroog. You can copy artifacts, Planeswalkers, or any permanent when Encroaching Mycosynth is in play. Works great and can be oppressive when you can make multiple copies of Mightstone Weakstone, or anything else.
First opponent really copied one of the best decks available right now, then proceeded to play some of the worst magic possible. Truly a sight to behold.
Happy that Akal Pakal showed up twice. It's a pretty underrated card - I built a Historic Brawl deck around him, which puts lots of ramp artifacts and artifact tokens into play, and has Rise and Shine and Masterful Replication as out-of-nowhere wincons. Would love to see you give him a go there!
Cool deck, I love artifact decks like that that don't just ramp into You-win-the-game. Looks fun to play. Btw, ignore me if it's none of my business, but have you seen any positive change on your end since youtube started to crack down on ad-blocks?
10:04 Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't Takenuma, Abandoned Mire's ability not work with Dennick in play? Or is this some weird rules interaction I've never seen?
LengenVD, What do you think about trimming two Thran Spiders for braided net (Since you only need one to sink mana) and bringing in 2 copies of Karn, Legacy Reforged going down a Thousand Moons Smithy and a mightstone and Weakstone?
Counterspells for control/ramp, sweepers and lifegain for aggro. The main is already decent vs midrange. Can't dilute the deck too much since we need a critical mass of artifacts.
So in that first game I gotta ask,if you target raffine and do not pay the ward cost with glyphbridge, does the ward counter the whole ability or just the forced targeting and would still destroy creatures?
Unstable Glyphbridge, importantly, doesn't target and Ward only triggers off targeting. It says "choose", which is a sneaky way of getting around it because Magic is fairly literal with targeting, as in it has to explicitly say "target" for it to target.
Sorry for my question, I'm still quite new to competitive magic plays. Couldn't Dennick be double blocked by the spiders at 18:48? It would be exiled and one spider would still be remaining, or am I missing something?
@@LegenVD At 14:40 you had 1 card with two options, and plenty of mana to spare. By the time you cast it and drew your cards, the timer started a few seconds later. It's not rocket science to play a single card when the opponent's hand is empty, with no possible way to counter or respond.
@@SuperMontsta There are multiple options with Mightstone, several targets to choose from, many ways to tap our mana, even a few activated abilities to think about. It's very easy to tap incorrectly and shut down future options because of that. I appreciate your concern for the opponent's and the viewer's time though!
If you're familiar with all the cards it should be easy enough to skip to the games using the timestamps. Someone who might be getting into Standard for the first time could be watching, so I need to cater to a wide range of viewers.
Really nice of your game 1 opponent letting you play your board wipe not once, but twice, when they could have kept it out of your hands. Honestly i lowkey wish youd cut games that feature an opponent making such a large, glaring mistake. Especially when those games are 20 minutes long.
I love how Luca knows every card in his opponent's deck as soon as they play their first land. Truly a knowledgable and skilled player. 🧠

Classic Urza, destroying the world with an army of robots when he’s not doing Eugenics
But why not both?
so many war crimes, so little time, which is why he invented the Tolarian Academy

Thran spider is such an underrated card in artifact leaning decks. It has ramp, that big booty, and the _sneaky_ reach! You get A LOT for your mana.

32:15 I know the opponent conceded, but you wouldn't have been able to pay the ward cost with automated artificer because ward is a triggered ability.
