Marvellous. As a wife of an Offr in the first Gulf War. We didn’t have contact except from Blueys. I think Sir you should be recognised for your efforts.
My father in law was a retired police officer and he was an amateur radio buff and when I saw all his equipment in this room and he told me he regularly talked to people in Argentina etc and around the world I was amazed ..I don’t know if it’s still popular these days
The USA military put their nation’s amateur radio operators to good use by having a service called MARS ( military affiliated radio service) It was used extensively in both Gulf Wars, and remember chatting to US Marine, you received a personal birthday message from his mother on his 21 st birthday on his way to a Lebanese Mission in 1982, via a American Ham . G1UYP
In 1981 I was working for the international división of a national electrical wholesale company. I received an inquiry from someone in the Falklands about replacement valves for ham radios. We really only dealt with commercial entities overseas, and at far greater cost. I called the manufacturer and requested simples for an important overseas client. I forwarded on to the person in the Falklands gratis. It would nice to think those valve helped in the conflict.

Not meant to spoil the happy story, but the 18 KIA families could deduce their low chances at that moment if a rumour milk runs its course.
Using 20 watts on a Xiegu G 90, with a decent antenna can be heard around the world if propagation is in its favour de va7dgp
Just doing that myself with the G90s and a Monnraker vertical on the garage
Mad one
