Impressive how they make perfectly round jars only with their hands. This takes place in Burkina Faso, probably in a Mossi village. They’re talking in Mooré, the main language of the country.
It really wasn’t stupid to ask. The way the commenter worded it left it open to ask that question. Plus how often do you expect to run in to people from this country in the comment section of RUclips.
These are clips showing Pottery from different African villages as recorded by Christopher Roy (please check out his channel for his commentary, which I cut out, also due to poor audio quality); I found this enjoyable not only from an anthropolocial viewpoint but I also enjoyed the the tapping and the peaceful village ambiance sounds
OMG your channel ROCKS. I get more tingles from one of your videos than THREE videos of some other channels (although there are some *very* nice other channels too), but when I _really_ need to relax or sleep, I just go to your channel and randomly pick something and . . . poof! Ten minutes I'm in tingly la-la land lol! Thanks a lot! :)
I tried pottery once and even with fancy tools it was one of the most difficult things ever. I genuinely admire the time and effort that must go in to creating these pots and perfecting this craft
This reminds me of a lovely episode of Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood where he visits a Native American pottery maker. That clip is available online, and has pretty decent ASMR qualities as well.
Okay I'm just gonna say it: I want to blatantly drag my mattress into one of these workspaces, curl up with a blanket, assume the internet-voyeur's-fetal position and let the village sights and sounds gently lull me to sleep.
Probably a necessity as they can't afford to be wasteful with water. For them, obtaining water probably involves walking several miles to a well or river and then bringing it back to the village.
I love how these women are able to work for such a long time bent over like that but if I try to do that my.back creaks and goes, "Bitch, you thought." And I'll be stuck like that for the rest of the day.
I had to do an art project with clay in my hS art clas and boy did I suck even with all the fancy equipment I had mine still looked like crap… if only I had her help during that time lol
I don’t necessarily feel bad about it because it’s two vastly different cultures, but it’s odd how I’m relaxing to what I’d consider less fortunate’s labor (compared to myself less fortunate that is, but I bet she’s happier than a lot of “fortunate” people)
I believe it was your channel that had a record cleaning video... If so, it's now gone? The original is also gone... Curios if you know what happened, don't recall music playing in it to have it be taken down...
the owner contacted me recently and asked for the video to be removed (he also removedthe originals). I don't know why exactly, but of course I respected his wish and did it
Africa is the 2nd largest continent on earth and has the 2nd most ethnicly diverse people so just saying african is kinda off if u ask me. Good post tho.
Once the African potterymaker enters the store, we first establish their ethnicity. Most RUclipsrs don’t know their diversity, so we establish this using our measuring services
c2dholla who cares? The title is still accurate depending on the level of comparison (eg grouping different pottery styles within each continent). Like if he changes is to “pottery in Africa” will that appease the language police? People love to feel offended.
I like how Africans don’t have social media, they don’t talk crap on people and they don’t give a flying F what you think of them. They all come together and smile and have fun outside and USA kids cry if they don’t get a $1000 cell phone
Ankur Nath they actually aren’t poor, they are very well off in this current condition. It’s just not the US so you don’t see an abundance of iPhones and technology.
If you think about it, their society is very capitalist, they may not be technology advanced or rich, but they gotta work hard for the food on their plates. Compells craftsmen to work and not be lazy.
These places are far more socialist than capitalist. Hard work is not something capitalists do - they use capital to make money. They own their way into wealth. They have other people working for them. There is a reason communism is the workers party. A person is entitled to the fruits of their labor under communism. Instead of all of the money going to some capitalist who owns the machines instead the workers own the machines and split the money they make equally. You have no idea what you're talking about and have fallen for the capitalist lie that communism is about living off of other people. You have it all backwards. Capitalism is about exploiting other people as much as possible to capitalize on every opportunity. Communism is about communities of workers WORKING for their wealth. If you simply choose not to work then you will not get a damn thing.
I respect anyone who can make things with their hands because mine are always involuntarily set at autopilot to *_DESTROY_* .

Best Unintentional ASMR what part of Africa? It’s a big place with many diverse countries.
@@trailerparksupervisor7046 I'm sure the original videos by Christopher Roy would inform you on that point. :)
This is what it is like to be human. There is something intuitive about it. This is probably the original function of ASMR, in fact.
Interesting thought James 🤔👍
ASMR is the "grooming response" that all primates and probably all mammals have
