Xochitl here, I have a Nicaraguan friend whose name is Eztli, meeting him made me realize how influential Nahua culture was outside of Mexico. In Nicaragua and El Salvador it's the mainstream culture proving how dominant the Nahuas were and still are in those countries.
So excited to find your channel! I’m expecting and I thought this would be a perfect time to reclaim our Indigenous routes and gift my child with a name representative of who we really are ❤️❤️
Please make more of these videos! I’m studying Nahuatl for my dissertation paper and it’s so hard to find actual live users of the language online! It’s one thing to learn pronunciation and how to read, it’s another to hear someone speak it with the natural intonation and emotion that comes with speech and you do it so well!
Thanks this helped me a lot , I’ve been interested in learning a lot more about the language, I’ve just finished watching and learning from all your videos and they helped a lot !!!! So huge thank you to you !! Also I’m in Sj too so this is super convenient as I attend a lot of the aztec festivals so thank you again 💯💯 I can’t wait to see your next upload
Your passion and insights are incredible! I'm learning so much with your videos and eager to check out the book recommendations. Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Congratulations on the birth of your son -- you are and will be an amazing father to him. Wishing you and your family all the best!
Im so thankful for you. Im Aztec/Comanche Native Indigenous woman. Ive been learning here and there. I want to teach my grandchildren. They took so much from our people with violence. Its important to me that we learn and pass this knowledge to the next generation. NIMITZENQUICAH XIMOCHICAHUACA (I want you to be strong) ✌🏽💚🙏🏽🦅🪶💕
Great video bro. I really appreciate you pronunciation examples especially with the kw (cuh,uc) phoneme. This sound is often butchered by people learning Nahuatl especially in Danza where the make it a KU sound. Excellent job. Tlazohcamati huel miac.
i like these videos - i'm australian so still confused about the pronunciation of "tl". It seems to be different when it begins a word from when it's at the end. Ok, so i'll look again at episode 3. thanks
The "Mexica" nametape patch was custom made, but Tochtli Wear has some awesome patches including the Mexica Flag. www.tochtliwear.com/search?type=product&q=patch
Pialli 👋🏽 I was wondering how one goes about the naming ceremony, when and even where? I’ve kept the name Ayotli because my mom calls me turtle but I’m not sure how to get my real name?
I am interested in finding a nahuatl community.. I'm learning the language and mexica culture to be close to our ancestors... I wish to meet new nahuatl speaking friends and people.. Does anybody know where I can find them?
Could you direct me to an elder. Who would guide me in choosing a name. How could I contact one? I live in Texas and there's not many nahuatl teachers here like in California
Yo soy salvadoreña y me apellido Quezada pero mi hijo es apellido Cuatlatoa y apenas me enteré según qué significa el que habla como águila. Can you please tell me if this is what really means so i can teach my son our culture he’s half mexican-salvadorian but his dad is white skin short men! I have Mayan-Pipil ancestors back home in el salvador including myself but we don’t really have true indigenous anymore they are almost in their 80-90 and they were afraid to pass it on to the younger generations due to all the kïllings just in 1932 more than 20,000 were kill in Sonsonate just because of our language and skin color
It’s crazy how we once had the land and they had the Bible. Now we have the Bible and they have the land. Our people needs to leave that religion alone and bring back our ancestors roots
Hey man I’m having a hard time picking out a name for my daughter to come. Is there any way you can help me with that naming ceremony and how it goes. I’m a historian myself and although my library consists mainly of European history, it also contains a little bit everything else and therefore meso American culture as well. Now when it comes to naming my kids I get a little serious in terms of meaning. Me and my wife have been searching for a Nahuatl name and meaning this time but your ceremony sounds very interesting. Is there anyway you can help and indulge me a little more with our Nahuatl roots and culture ?
Congratulations on your baby girl! My naming ceremony was done through my calpulli. My maestro, Ocelocoatl, used the Arturo Mesa Gutierrez correlation to calculate my birth date and time in the Mexica calendar, and research my tonalamatl in the codices. You can calculate her tonalamatl using www.tonalama.com/hoy.php You can give her a tonalamatl name using the energies in her tonalamatl, or check out this website for more Nahuatl name ideas. sixthsunridaz.com/nahuatl-names/
Thank you temachtiani. Many of us are reconnecting, may our creator contiune to lead you on this path of education. May blessings cover you always.

Hey brotha are you referring of temachtiani Ocelocoatl Ramirez?
Itzcoatl like Quetzacoatl? Are there some pronunciations that lightly pronounce the l at the end, blending with the t?
Congratulations! Are there any links to naming tables? Or how to calculate the dates and times of birth?
