It's not, but in old noble families it was a given because who's gonna stop the patriarch. The wife was expected to either accept it or deal with it. That's why you have so many harem/scheming stories and dramas, because there was literally no way to not have a husband's mistress or mistresses around in the same house (though each one had their own servants, and courtyards aka bedrooms)

I don't know what the time period of this drama is supposed to be, but concubinage was standard practice until 1949 when the Communists took over. After that, mistresses were generally kept outside of the home and family.

The main wife did well. Accepted it all and the mistress showed her envy and jealous nature. Spoiled and throwing tantrums. Just gonna make him respect his wife all the more for her cool and leve headed personality.
This was too hard to watch! The English translation does not make any sense. I will not be watching these again.
