- Mom mourns daughters killed in distracted-driving crash
On March 20, 2016, Stacey Riddle's life was forever changed.
“When you lose your only children, and at the same time, that's a pain that no one can fix,” said Riddle, the mother of distracted driving victims.
It's been eight years since she lost her two children but it’s a loss she says she will never understand or get over. Investigators who were at the crash told Riddle the crash was so horrific that there were clothes, phones and debris all over the highway.

Her children were beautiful just like she is. What a brave mom to speak about her tragedy to help others learn from it.
The irony of the driver being the sole survivor.
I don't know if I'd want to live knowing that my negligence took the lives of so many people.
The driver has this heavy guilt to live with for the rest of her life.she will not bounce back from this,life goes on but at a different momentum.

We have no idea what the driver has to live with. We don't know her so who are we to judge.
@@beatricev.7783 It's not "judging" to say she will have to live with it for the rest of her life. If you were looking at your phone while driving and crash into an 18 wheeler, which kills your friends but you manage to survive, then you have to live with your decision and the aftermath. She made a foolish decision that killed people and destroyed lives. I'm sick of people whining about supposed judging regardless of the topic. This is something that should weigh on anyone's mind and conscience for the rest of their life, unless you're just a completely heartless person.
The same thing happened to my cousin and her daughters. But, only 1 daughter died. My cousin was NEVER THE SAME. She and her husband divorced after that. Her daughter was just a very quiet young lady after losing her sister. Nothing was EVER THE SAME. --My cousin fell asleep while driving after working all night. She was a nurse.

@@free2rhyme29100 My Cousin did not pass away. But, her 2 daughters were in the car with her. Only 1 of her daughters passed away from the accident. My cousin was a nurse and she had picked her daughters up from college (after her overnight shift as a nurse.) My cousin fell asleep while driving.

If they start being charged with murder and go to jail. Others will think twice before reaching for that phone, etc. I’m sorry that was an accident, but she caused the deaths of four people and destroyed several families lives.
Too ignorant, that's why. There's should be steps that's consciously taken, any time you are not fully focusing on the road. No one is cyclops. Even something as normal and peripheral vision isn't used anymore.
I'm so sorry for that mom's loss. Two children at once sounds almost unbearable.

Truly tragic. The only survivor out of both vehicles was the distracted driver. I pray that she has learned a valuable life long lesson. So many loss due to her actions.

You guys are being extremely judgmental I’m sure it wasn’t a careless mistake she made, we all look at our gps when driving. Why should she be in jail ? Unless she was drinking or texting than yes I can see how we can blame the driver bc those can be avoided. But gps yes we all look at our phones out bc we don’t always know our way around places. I’m not saying always look at your gps but maybe invest on those phone mounts attached to your front window so that why you don’t have to look down at your phone for directions. Terrible situation, I know. I hope the mom is doing okay😢
The person who causes the accidents, whether it's a drunk driver or a distracted driver always seems to walk away unscathed!

And continue to do not loosen up tying your grip. I let my baby girl leave for the summer feeling that she was in the country so she would be safer with family and she never came home. There was four young ladies in the vehicle to survived. My baby girl was one of the victims. She was the youngest. The driver was the only one with those seat belt on and the oldest. She had a few scratches and bumps where the other survivor have lifelong issues and scars from the wreck, but my daughter and their friend life was cut very short Samara Cooks July 29th 2019

Driving is something we need to understand that need all our attention. just talking on your phone is a distraction even though they say it’s hands-free but your mind is focusing on the conversation not the road. such a sad story. May God continue to bless and keep this woman strong .

Oh my gosh. I literally said, "Please don't let them be her ONLY children." then she said it. It's always horrible to lose 2 babies, but to lose every one of your children & have none left to love on earth is another level.
Truly truly sad. Stiffer laws for distracted drivers. New laws to make people focus on driving. Cant even imagine this mom’s heartbreak. Just so truly sad.
It should be a law that all cars should have a screen for gps navigation instead of looking at our phones for gps navigation. The devices that prop the phone to the dashboard or car vent can be difficult to look at when following the gps. My new car has apple play and it makes a world of difference. I can quickly glance at the large screen instead of the small screen of my phone.

My mom was only 5 years old when her older sister passed away in a car accident. She was in the car with her friend and her friend fell asleep and crashed and killed my aunt instantly. My mom barely remembers her but she remembers her mom crying and her mom never being the same. The friend who drove survived the crash and my grandma had a difficult time reconciling that she both crashed and lived but her daughter didn't. It took many years until she forgave the friend, even though it was an accident.
Oh my goodness so sad. I have two girls the same age. This reminds me that we have so much more to be grateful for. My heart goes out to her. Why do I even complain

When I tell you that this breaks my heart. The fact that she lost both of them at the same time. OMG, the pain is HORRIFIC enough with one child but two. As a mother who has lost a child 17 years of age in a fatal car accident, I know that hurt. It is the worst pain a HUMAN BEING can ever feel. No one should have to experience that. My sincere condolences to her and all that were impacted. Please know that there is no life lost and you will see them both again........and OHHHH what A REUNION that will be.

If I am not mistaken this is the relative or very good friend of my coworker. When it happened my coworker came to work very upset and and I remember her showing us some of these photos. Small world. Very sad. I didn't realize that it has been so long since it happened.

So impactful. I lost my oldest son a couple of weeks after she lost her children. Unrelated death but a devastating loss none the less. I admire her strength. I know her faith and trust in God will hold her and keep her in peace.
I hate seeing people on their phones while driving. People can invest in a dash navigation system or at the least appoint a passenger to read off the directions. Please! Put your phones down!

I remember when this happened. I can not even imagine the pain their Mom, Dad, and family have endured. It just seems so unfair, but this hopefully changed someone's behavior and prevented more senseless deaths.

I'm going to give the driver some grace and mercy, she was distracted but not alone, so one of the other girls could've told her where to go, since it was said and most likely verified that she was looking at her GPS, she has to live with this guilt for the rest if her life and that's punishment enough for me. I feel so sorry for this mother and all of the people involved. It was a preventable accident, and I hope her faith continues to keep her strong
