    In my little universe that is one of my favorite pieces ever. It’s nothing but joy and happiness throughout. The perfect remedy for when you just need some more pure and simple joyfulness in your heart.

    The geek in me says, “sweet editing job.” The Bach-lover in me says, “Perfection.” And the McVeigh fan in me says, “NAILED IT!!!”

    I love this piece, and Richards’s rendition is the best I have heard in over 40 years of listening to Bach’s organ works. Outstanding pedal work!!

    Beautiful performance Richard! The trills in the Toccata were amazing. The fugue is breathtaking! This sample set really brought this Bach piece to life. 🎵

    I have always loved the Toccata from this and as usual this is among the best performances of it that I have heard.

    Lord Richard, Of JSBach's Toccata's this is my superfavourite hands down - And your rendition of it brought tears of quiet joy to my eyes - Why? Because your musicianship and introspective thought which you bring to the fore takes my breath away, thats why...
    Respectfully and truthfully yours until the end of time...
    P.s. This Goch sample set is a gem...

    Magnificent . I wonder what Maestro Bach would think of this beautiful organ. Im sure it is unlike any he ever played. Very exciting. I wish I had such a toy myself! Thanks.

    I have to say, that I had tears in my eyes while listening and watching. The reason might be the piece itself, I mean: Bach, but also the perfomance and not to forget: The sound. This is a reaction I don't have often, it has to be a special reason. So, congrats, I think!

    Fabulous! One of my favorite pieces of Bach. I love your control - this is an easy one to let run away but you maintain a stunning intensity throughout. The new sample set sounds great too. Bravo!!

    I would listen to this riding the train to work, the toccata got me all revved up. The fugue put me in a state of bliss. I can still hum the pedal solo after all these years. When I first heard it I could not figure out when it would end, it kept going and going and I would just laugh. The ornaments are fantastic, I saw the pedal ones, amazing, trills and mordents, so cool. Again the sound is amazing, the low C pedal made things rattle in my room, BIS. Why it the toccata such a favorite in the comments? It is kind of mesmerizing how it seems to never stop, I wonder if that is it? The fugue is mesmerizing too in its own way, seems too holy to be paired with the winding toccata.

    Brilliant and enjoyable performance as always, and loved the organ. Despite your answer to lustful2, must confess I still found the pedal in the toccata (though a great sound!) was overpowering the manuals a bit; might be just the balance in my headphones but I didn't experience this last time you played it (can't remember where that was). Not a problem in the closing bars of the fugue, though.

      I agree. The second and third pedal points were overly dominant. I think I tend to the view that reeds aren't necessary anywhere in this toccata until just the last section just to add a colour change for the climax. Ditto for the fugue. Be that as it may, this performance is nicely played.

    Although I’m away from home, it’s so satisfying to hear great organ music like this
    Unfortunately here in the Philippines there are no pipe organs !!

    Sounds great, but I like the way Walcha uses a softer more pastorale sound for parts of the introduction.

    Prefer a brighter mixture pleno myself this one is a little more softer as is the 16ft reed.

    • @beautyinsound
      @beautyinsound  2 года назад +3

      The opening 16’ reed is coupled down from the Solo. The pedal bombarde 16’ is too loud for the opening couple of pages. I used the bombarde 16 for the pedal solo passages only.

    Nice CONTROLLED performance. However, personally, I would have slightly backed down in volume with the long pedal points, then brought the pedal volume up at the pedal solos. Personally, I don't care to listen to long pedal points over shadowing the action in the hands. As a retired cathedral choirmaster, organist, composer, teacher and concert level violist, I can't understand why so many organist are hell bent on playing - loud, louder, and even more loudly!

  • @frankrother1343
    @frankrother1343 2 года назад +1

    Soo funny. We see the pedalboard on the lectern but the organist read the music from the sheets or Ipad, not so ?

    Well, Don Rich.. Almost there, some minor notes, and a little too stacc. (I.M.O.;) Towards the final 75 sec. Of the fugue… puh, still miss the richer-in-color Barock Sound… Spāter..
