Wait, so you get dismissed for MVP consideration if you have help? The MVP is a joke. Give it to Lamar every year. Nobody cares. There are no real criteria. Lamar has a lot of help but he's in the MVP race. Goff has help and he's not a consideration. What? So your team should win, with no good players to be an MVP prospect? Nonsense.
Its turning towards a running backs game again... The league has created defenses with smaller faster guys to cover the passing game, and great runners are starting to shine... Once the league shifts back to heavy run stopping linebackers, running backs should shine for a bit.
If the Bills had Pat and the Chiefs had Josh. Josh would have rings and Pat would not. Stop acting like Pat is the best QB. He's not nor will he ever be. Brady goes from one team to another wins a Super Bowl. Pat never ever will. Notice they have never had this talking piece and never will because it would dismantle any credit you could give to Pat.
Most people didn't think the Bill's would be good because of the supporting cast around Josh. Meanwhile most people thought the Vikings wouldn't be good because of Darnold, his supporting case is elite. The fact that he's doing good IS Because of the cast, not as much because he's a great player. That doesn't diminish his success, but it does hurt the MVP argument for him.
Wild part is that if Monken had figured out how to use Henry before Week 3, he'd probably already be at 2k yards. Henry and Barkley are avg the exact yds/carry so far this year too (5.8). People want to focus on Henry helping Lamar, not many talking about the fact that every RB that has played with Lamar since he became starter (with, I think, the exception of Kenyan Drake) has increased their success rate around 10-15% regardless of OC or OL. That's not a coincidence.
@@dmholman yeah Fam. I came up with that 1400 yards just if Henry only ran the ball 250 times next year but gets 5.5 yds a carrier because of the offensive scheme.
Didn’t ravens have the best record in the league last year? I mean Josh doesn’t even have the best record in his conference playing in the worst division and last year Lamar had everyone hurt on offense with the best record dominating a bunch of playoff teams last year as Josh has a losing record vs playoff teams including a blowout loss to the ravens this year. Let’s add some context to your argument
Lamar only won last year because nobody really had impressive stats like that and his team was so dominant. He wouldn't have been in the running if guys had seasons like they had this year
@@pmc9593 better record is Allen. Has a worse roster, was picked 3rd in the division pre-season, and they also beat #1 chiefs and #1 lions. Josh is MVP this year.
@@charlesrupp3976just because the money value of a running back is low doesn’t take away from what he’s doing. In this era of football, no running backs are getting 2000 yards that often.
He was supposed to be there back up QB - so he is more valuable and it's not about who is better because if that was the case it would be a boring debate because Mahomes would win it- and this season he's been as a good as anyone in the league Josh Lamar Barkley - and to play the what if game isn't fair to any of them - Josh plays the weakest division so there's an argument his number should be better he also had an historical bad game Lamar has a couple bad losses where you can blame the defense but his fingerprints are on the loss as well - the award has become too media driven and narrative focus
@Warcodered01 it's really a si.ple argument. If Darnold plays in Josh's circumstances is he as good as Josh? No Kevin OConnell, no JJ, no Hockenson, etc. Same for Burrow. And Lamar. Are these guys doing the same things as Josh if their best weapons are Khalil Shakir and James Cook?
Darnold is actually a better story than Josh. Burrow has a great story also, he’s willing his team into the playoffs. Barkley is on tap to break the single season record. This is what happens when you throw stats and precedent out the window.
In that respect, he's like Colin Cowherd. He believes in the system and always seems to have grace for the high draft picks and made guys. He goes after any guy who doesn't align with his narrative.
Darnold lit it up when Jefferson and Addison were out and his WR1 was Jalen Nailor. Hockenson was out for half the season as well, and Aaron Jones is no CMC. He also doesn't have Trent Williams protecting his blindside. The Vikings are not a 49ers-esque super team. Put Purdy on this Vikings team and they are not competing for the 1 seed.
No it doesn’t because he didn’t add who had the hardest schedule which Lamar smokes all of the other candidates! Lamar’s combined stats are the best in the league. The help argument is weak because he didn’t add in coaching!
@@lennybeason1110 that's an insane statement because the bills beat two teams better than anyone Lamar beat and it's not close. Josh did it with nothing around him.
@@lennybeason1110 1). Lamar has one of the best coaches in the league. 2). Lamar's strength of schedule is up there but so is Jared Goff's because NFC North is one of the hardest conferences in the NFL. 3). Stat wise, Broussard gave Lamar a top score for stats, but his stats weren't great last year, yet he had the biggest impact on his team, so that also should be taken into account for picking a winner this season which would favor Allen. 4). Statistically, Burrow, like Lamar, is having one of the greatest passing seasons in NFL history. So All in all, I don't know what you're complaining about lol
They all played great this season. I am going with Josh. All I heard all off season into preseason was how the Super bowl window has closed for the Bills. How Josh does not have enough weapons on offense to score points with the elite NFL teams. How the entire team has regressed. Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller from Sirius radio didn't pick the Bills to win the AFC east or make the playoffs. Along with many other Sirius radio hosts. Mad Dog and many ESPN analyst didn't have the Bills winning the east. Rich Eisen, Pat McAfee. Many of the Fox sports shows did not pick the Bills or Josh to make noise in the league. That is why the media has selected Josh Allen. He did more with less.
It's crazy cuz they all said Henry was too old and washed before the season, but now he's too good and takes away from Lamar 😂 Sports media is a joke and shouldn't be voting on anything in the NFL.
Here's something that bugs me. There's constantly people complaining that MVP shouldn't be a QB only stat. Those same people then judge QBs on their claim to MVP as if only the traditional QB passing stats matter. An example is Nick hand waving away the 12 rushing TDs Allen has when comparing him to Darnald, and not even listing rushing yards. They want it to be a non-qb exclusive award, then they specifically only focus on passing stats when making decisions.
Eagles probably have 1 or 2 less wins without him tho, u r getting offensive player of the year confused with mvp, mvp is more like who would u want on your team for that year, imagine a team saying ya I’d rather have saquon than Josh Allen
It is peculiar how the weapons Lamar currently possesses were once deemed insufficient, and people were insisting that the team needed to acquire a true number one wide receiver. All of a sudden, it is no longer an issue.
@@boogidwnej179the seperation isn’t misleading. The Ravens WR corps has the highest “Average Seperation Score” which takes into account the QB buying time and escaping sacks to give the WRs more time. The Ravens WRs are the best at getting seperation regardless of what Lamar does because defenses are forced to stack the box against Henry.
Batemen before his injury was on pass for 1k actually nice flowers to but is a rookie this yr but u see what he doing n Henry everyone said would help Lamar out I didn't hear nobody say Lamar weapons r not good enough
If Saquon doesn't win after breaking Dickerson's record, then this is a travesty! Just rename the MVP as the Best QB Award by this point. Saquon is set to break a 40 YEAR RECORD! The QBs these years are putting up just another average QB performance year, nothing special, nothing like the 5000 yards 50 TDs we were seeing previously. AND Saquon crushed Lamar when they went up against each other... Enough said. Saquon is MVP, hands down!!
similar has happened before. Chris Johnson broke yards from scrimmage record with 2506, and lost to a mediocre peyton year. sad part about the titans that year, they went 0-6 until they went 8-2 after swapping QBs
Lamar's got insane numbers and crushed Vick's record on Christmas. That being said, if Saquon gets Dickerson's record (which he will) he is clearly the MVP and that will put an end to the discussion!!! 💜🖤
The MVP award last year was basically how can we rob 4 players who eclipse Lamar statistically and give him the award when he has the worst stats by a winner of the award in this millennium. 😂😂
As a Texans fan, I do believe Lamar is the most deserving statistically speaking. Not just because of his 121.6 passer rating, but also because he smoked my Texans🙃, and we gave Josh Allen all kinds of fits when we played him. Having said that, nobody thought the Bills had any chance in the AFC because they had lost a lot of key players in the off-season. Despite that, Josh Allen stepped up and he carried the Bills to the 2nd best record in the AFC. He also gave the best team(Chiefs) in the NFL, their only lost of the season. I don't think you can go wrong either way, but if Josh Allen wins, then I would say it's well deserved.
@@Xb1-w5jand he should probably win it again this year. So they’re talking themselves into voting for Allen. He’s having a great season too so that makes it easier

That includes OJ Simpson and Thurman Thomas two HoF running backs that won MVP's. -More passing TD's than any other Bills QB's... Again includes a HoFer in Jim Kelly -First player in History to throw a TD, Receive a TD and run for one in a game - First player in 60 years to throw for 3 and run for 3 TD's in a game -First and ONLY QB to have a TD on every single drive of a game... And he did it in the Playoffs -Fastest to 150 TD's soon will be the fastest to 200 TD's -8 straight games of 30 or more points... -This year the Bills tied a record for most amount of players with a TD reception. Which includes Josh. -3rd player in History to throw a ball and have a reception TD on the same play. Oh and he never won a MVP... because it's not a stats thing... Remember Lamar???
OOOH! Let me try! Lamar: - 2x MVP - Single Season QB Rushing Record - Career QB Rushing Record in 41 fewer games - Tied for #1 in perfect passer rating games - First quarterback with multiple 1,000-yard rushing seasons - Most career 100+ rushing yards games by a quarterback - First quarterback with five 700+ rushing yards seasons in a career - Most 100+ rushing yards games by a quarterback in a season - First player with 3,000 passing yards and 1,000 rushing yards in a season (has a chance, albeit very small, to hit 4000/1000) - Most perfect passer ratings in a season - Most wins by a quarterback under the age of 25 - Youngest quarterback to achieve a perfect passer rating - Highest completion percentage in a game when attempting more than 40 passes - First player to register two rushing touchdowns, two passing touchdowns, 100 rushing yards, and 100 passer rating in any game - Currently #2 in single season passer rating, and could break that record next game. (FYI, It's partially a stats thing, but if you want to talk about stats, make sure to include the 18 picks from Allen last season (which was the reason why they lost most of the games they did). Dak couldn't beat a winning team, and Purdy literally had a superstar team and got ROFLStomped by Lamar. on top of throwing 4 picks that game. There's a reason why Allen was #5 on the MVP list).

How does that argument work for Allen this yesr when his team isn’t even the best in the conference and other QBs are having better all time great statistical seasons? Just don't use his presence to downgrade what Lamar does.
Henry helps Lamar more than you think he does. Just having him in the backfield completely changes how a team can line up on defense. Normally, Nick drives me up the wall with his insane takes. However, I think he’s made some excellent points about Josh and the debate with Saquon Barkley. The Chiefs would 100% be an undefeated team this year if it wasn’t for Josh Allen.
So if Patrick Mahomes plays with Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce he doesn't have too many weapons to win MVP but if Jared Goff has 2 pro bowlers he has too many weapons to win MVP?
Kelce was 1st team Allpro without Mahomes THill in his 2nd year had 1200yds Alex Smith lead the NFL in Passer Rating in 2017 with Mahomes watching from the bench that’s what he inherited Goff took over a terrible team and was part of making them great
We’ve been saying that for decades. But especially loudly when Rodgers was on his “streak” of 4. At least 2 should gone to another player/position (D Henry for one).
To be fair bills have blown out enough teams that Allen has either been pulled for 4th quarter or they just go into burn clock mode and he doesn't do much. Legit about 2 games worth of this time cumulative. Lamar has a good chunk of this too. Burrow has to chuck it in catch up or keep up mode all the time so serious inflation of stats. If Saquon breaks the rushing record he should be MVP. That means he broke a record that has been established for almost 40 years. Only 9 running backs ever have rushed for more than 2000 yards and Saquon could beat all of them setting a new NFL record that will probably take another 20+ years to beat. On top of all of that Saquon is the only guy on here that does not control his own stats. He needs someone else to give him the ball the entire time unlike all these QBs who touch it pretty much every play on offense. I understand Josh Allen is having a great season but its nothing so fantastic it's setting nfl records that will stand for decades. On any given year 2-3 qbs usually put up outstanding numbers similar to Allen and Jackson but noone has done what Saquon is doing at the Running Back position in 40 years. So yea in my opinion it's not even a close race if Saquon can break the record that has ben there since 1984.
Ok that’s good and all for Allen but his teams strength of schedule is weak compared to Ravens! Look what LJ8 did last year against like 10 playoff teams he whipped them big time…And then this year, Allen only did that against 2 elite teams, LJ8 been doing the same again this year!!!
@ Allen also has the best pressure win % and best stats against the blitz so what you’re trying to imply about him being carried by his o-line doesn’t have much logical standing.
2:55 “historic precedent” going to Allen is actually outrageous. 😂😂. Lamar setting records, qbr, rushing, and Allen has what, TikTok highlights? This take loses credibility.
Its crazy that this years mvp is based off of last years selection. People forget that ravens played the 2nd toughest schedule of all teams, ran the gauntlet and won. That factor itself won Lamar his 2nd MVP, NOT because of his stats. Now allen stans are comparing Joshs mvp case to Lamars last year, but Lamar never throws that many interceptions. They use this comparison as to why Allen should win.. hes had one of the weakest schedules this year. Statistically Allens worst year since 2019. Lost head to head against the ravens, allen stans have amnesia when it comes to that game and their rebuttal to it is "yall lost to browns and raiders" like Allen had a part in those games, also it only worsens allens mvp case lol minshew and winston ran through the defence Allen couldnt score on? Sympathy award at best.

Darnold being eliminated from MVP conversation based on his previous seasons is completely unjust
Nah he’s just not as good or valuable as saquon Lamar and Allen
He was supposed to be there back up QB - so he is more valuable and it's not about who is better because if that was the case it would be a boring debate because Mahomes would win it- and this season he's been as a good as anyone in the league Josh Lamar Barkley - and to play the what if game isn't fair to any of them - Josh plays the weakest division so there's an argument his number should be better he also had an historical bad game Lamar has a couple bad losses where you can blame the defense but his fingerprints are on the loss as well - the award has become too media driven and narrative focus
Darnold is eliminated because he has 5 fewer TDs and twice as many picks and twice as many fumbles lost.
Nick arguing for Darnold when he was so against Purdy last year is nuts
In that respect, he's like Colin Cowherd. He believes in the system and always seems to have grace for the high draft picks and made guys. He goes after any guy who doesn't align with his narrative.
Tbh I'd rather darnold win over josh.
Broussard's grading system is actually a logical way of judging it. With a tweak or two, it should become the standard grading system

As a Philly fan I can say that if they try to get the rushing record and Saquon gets hurt I will not hold it against anyone. This is an historic moment and I think that out of respect for the history and tradition of the game it would be a disservice to not even make the attempt because “we had nothing to play for in week 18” that’s bs you go out there and you play the game. There’s a scenario where Saquon runs for 200 yards, smashes the record, doesn’t get hurt, and the Eagles win the superbowl. There’s a scenario where he gets hurt, no record, first round out. This is the game we all love and we owe it to ourselves and each other to be as good as we can possibly be EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK.
Josh Allen: 3 games against the Rams, Dolphins, Jaguars where he had 3 or more passing TD's. 2 games with no touchdowns at all passing with 1 rushing TD. Faced 6 teams that should be in the playoffs. Best games totals of 10 passing TD's and 3 rushing TD'S.
Lamar Jackson: 6 games with 3 or more passing touchdowns, has thrown at least 1 TD in every game this season, 4 games against the Giants, Buccaneers, and Bengals twice where he threw 4 or more TD's and had 0 interceptions. 4 game total of 18 TD's and no INT's. He has faced 10 teams that will be in the playoffs and 12 if Cincinnati gets in. Won the head to head matchup 31-10.
I am a Bills fan and I know that this is not even close when you break it down. Josh Allen is a beast and the best chance we have had in 30 plus years to win a Super Bowl but he should not be the MVP unless voters are just defiant in voting for LJ. As for Burrow he has lost twice to Baltimore and Lamar has been great in both games.
Bils fans know Josh is the NFL MVP and has been for years now.
Something tells me you're not a Bill's fan 🤔
The lone problem here is that they gave it to Lamar last year based on narrative and wins/seeding over stats, setting a precedent that stats don’t matter as much as the storyline. And this episode hit the nail on the head. The best stories this season are Josh’s and Sam Darnold’s. Even if someone like Lamar or saquan deserve it more. Just like mccaffery should have won it last year. Or Dak or Josh. So the voters/league played themselves.
