    "Number one: Don't tell anyone."
I actually laughed out loud! It seems like such a simple thing, but such a good piece of advice. There are people out there who want to tear you down, and sometimes they don't even know it. Just don't tell them! It's YOUR project, YOUR dream--you can do it!

Like a lot of folks here, I've had minimal support from my "inner circle". It's hard for people who aren't creatively driven to "get it". I've wanted to be a professional writer my entire life, but the constant negative reinforcement took the wind out of my sails. In recent years I've gained a lot more confidence in my ability to succeed, after networking with fellow creative minds. I have a big family (5 kids) so I have to hang on to that day job, but I do hope to make writing my "side hustle" very soon. Thanks for another great vid! #HappyWriter

I just found your channel and you're really helpfull!
I was really afraid of getting no support from my family, I believed they wouldn't understand me, especially because I'm only 13.
This is a reason why I didn't started to write yet.
And I can't just hide it from them because I don't have a single place where I could be on my own.
But I will start now. If they don't understand me it's ok, it's my thing.
Thanks for giving all these advices with your videos!
PS: English is not my first language so don't be mad if there are mistakes.

The Sci-Fi &Fantasy Writer's Guild on Facebook is my go-to community (I've recently become a mod). It was the first group I found that didn't have too much snark/bitterness in the comments, or that didn't hate on either traditional or self-pubbing; there's a strict policy about advertising and politics (real world ones, at least ;) ), and in short, an aim at keeping the discussions about writing and being a supportive place where people can come and be inspired or get help. There's also a good mix of writers there, from total novices to people who are published. Ask a Book Editor is also an amazing resource: it's a group where authors can ask freelance editors questions, and they have a side group called AABE -- Help Wanted, where you can find editors for your projects.

I have been in a few Facebook groups, but unfortunately, at least once they grow larger, they turn out some very toxic people ... look out for that, anyone who turns to Facebook, and if anyone has a tip of a Facebook group that isn't toxic, please do point me in the right direction!

I've been following you for a while now, I absolutely love your videos. I was wondering if I could ask for some input though; I have a hard time getting organized and I have a lot of ideas for novels, and even have started to just write things down to see how it would go. My issue is, in everything I do in my life, I am very organized, yet when it comes to writing, I have no idea where to begin. If I was to start at one place to get organized, where would you say would be the best place to get started for someone like me?

    • @emiliaross2244

Vincent DiLallo I'm the same. What I do is use folders. I have a folder where I write down all my loose ideas (ALL ideas, even if I know they're horrible), and I have each book I write in an individual folder with individual sections in it (like research, first draft, second draft, edited, non-edited, etc.). It's very hard to be organized with writing, but it is possible and very personal in the way it's accomplished. I use Scrivener, which really helps sectionalize my work in its many forms, but there is a folders option in almost every platform. Good luck!

What would you recommend to balance 'dont tell anyone' and 'connect with people online' for support/marketing purposes? I found it hard to manage both a personal and an authorgram account so I deleted it and use my personal account for both types of posts. I try to balance my content so I don't overwhelm people with writing posts but I'm worried I'm not going to reach a good target audience that way. I have an author page on fb though - can I use that account to interact with niche groups on fb?
