are these mods free? after installing I get a message from dcs saying its not authorized and will be disabled.
Yes, make sure you're following the correct install instructions, don't just drag and drop into your DCS Folder

By the way, can THAAD shoot down ballistic missiles in the middle of their trajectory? Like, putting a THAAD in between the launch point and the intended target instead of on top?
