I own a 2012 wr450f and I agree with your assessment. This was the first year of fuel injection on these bikes and they are generally reliable but definitely need more power, especially if on the street. Luckily I have the competition ecu and tuner, didnt even know they werent available anymore. Im going to keep my bike (probably forever) but the 2024 model has caught my eye.
I had this same exact bike back in 2015. Had the ecu, full fmf exhaust + air box mod and I got it up to like 113 on knobbies. Obviously the real gps verified speed would be lower but it was significantly faster than what you have lol.
I have an 06 steel frame ....with grey wire ignition ....(yz ignition) no throtle stop .....upgrade hot cams ....and several other upgrades ....and its a damn handful try and ride....but i like the old steel frames ....and the titanium 5 valve engine ....is a really good engine .....i also have sprokets changes from a 13 front and 50 rear to a 15 front 47 rear ....was really hard keep front end down on it with the 13 /50 set up and would only run 77 miles an hour ....now with the 15/47 .....still has all kinds of low end grunt but will easily go over 100mph ....but even with upgraded brakes its hard to stop at that speed ....thats a nice bike you have but i can understand....my bike was uncorked when i bought it ....easier to do on the 06 ....
I had an 06 wr450 as well. It’s in some of my other videos. Engine was stock far as I know. It was a wheelie machine that took a lot of abuse but kept on running.
I have a 2012 wr450f dirt bike and ur right on exhaust restrictive. I see muffler coming out of engine area turning super hot red from the heat. Hoping it won't melt or malfunction a part. Is there a fix for this problem? I don't ride for competition i mostly do trail riding. I have broken pelvis, broken right leg dislocated right shoulder, some scar stitches and front broken teeth that has helped me decide what type of riding to do nowadays. Thanks for the video, any feedback appreciated
I got mine probably around the same time as you I love mine I bought it uncorked and it rips it’ll do 111 on super moto wheels I can pull wheelies 4th at 51 no clutch and I don’t have the comp ecu it’s coming in tomorrow I found one on thumper talk id look there it was 550 with the tuner
Great bike to buy, rstricted not thrashed . The exhaust is fine no problem , remove the throttle stop screw and cut it down , full poweryewww.

Thanks for your input. I bet it performs a lot better with the mods you have!

I would recommend adding an aftermarket slip on exhaust. I believe that would help a lot!
just sold my yz250f to be able to buy a 2016 WR450F and man i cant wait
the 2016 is a different engine than the 2015 and prior
I have 2016 and it’s savage power uncorked with yz450f exhaust 😮
ECU & a few other cheap mods... My 16 WR450 cranks wheelies from 80mph+ all day. Unbelievable bike.

That’s awesome. I sold it already lol got tired of looking for parts
@@therealwillmoto yeah I could see that being a reason to get rid of it I got some videos of me doing wheelies on my channel if you like them
Great 👍
Thank you 👍
its so hard to find videos of this bike running with good audio and your audio is super shitty but you can hear all the sounds the bike makes.
😂😂 audio is trash tbh
Just buy a KTM. Job done.
